Seems strange that having just cracked it,with a 7.75 ave for the Rockets he packs it in, pressumably

1975 was my first and only meeting at Wembley.Went hoping Tommy Jansson would get on the rostrum They do sell the videos here for about a fiver, but the german commentary has nothing on Dave Lanning! The main thing i remember from the final was the crowd....80,000 or something speedway fans was something to see even coming from a fairly big home track when at the time the Internationale had about 20,000 every year

I'll keep that in mind next time your here

Just to clarify Conkers, where there is "fällt " it means dropped out rather than fell.Sturz is normally given for fallen. In Krasnikov's 2 heats he had 1st motor then chain problems.I think An example in the Krasnogorsk semi Aakko has an "s" for sturz...i.e he fell

Depends on if Kevin Hammond got this book for xmas? And how comprehensive it is.For 45€ it should be pretty good! How about it,Kev?
-
Thanks Kev, Thats helped track him down a bit further....... Bit from a Rayleigh prog: "Congratulations must also go to our newest Rocket, young Barry Lee,on getting a "Paid" maximum.....A truly sterling performance for a rider discarded by Canterbury as being no good!Barry, incidentally is very much a local boy,he hails from Hockley and lives nearer the stadium than any other of our riders......"

There will be a report from Inzell on the Bayern tv station sunday night at 21:45-22:00.Only 15 minutes and there are a few other reports on the show,so won't be much, but better than nothing

German Championship can be followed live here

The Russian team in Berlin will be selected by the MFR.So hopefully Krasnikov and Bulankin will be there

Yeah,i know i read somewhere that he rode speedway. Can't think where.Just looking through some programmes and there is a reserve for the World Championship quali in 1965 added ....Barry Leigh Also printed in the programme for the World Champ quali in 1968 is a B.Lee(Wimbledon).I assumed this was the stockcar and speedway racer Barry Lee!
-
While some riders,Ronnie Moore and Ronni Pedersen come to mind swap the speedway bike for motorcar racing, one Wimbledon reserve rider went on to become World Champ.O.K it was only stockcars(and i don't want to start on that topic),but Barry Lee was knocking about riding at Plough Lane, then went on to dominate the stockcars.Anyone have any info(averages, etc)on his career. As he was an Essex man, maybe Norbold knows a thing or two.Did he ride for Romford? Did he indeed ride for the Dons or was he just in the reserve team and reserve for "Open" meetings.
-
Any chance of putting the details of this meeting on here?Riders and points, maybe! Also does anyone know what was happening back in the states during the 50s?When did Lammy and the Milne bros finally call it a day?
-
It does state in the Crystal Palace book that Vera Hole had 3 brothers who rode for Bristol.
-
I thought the future of Rowne was also in doubt.Vladimir Trofimov had a lot of trouble last year and i thought there was a big question mark over the tracks future
-
You've obviously got your house in order,Norbold.Wish i could find my stuff so quickly!
-
Was that it for these guys then.Never to be heard of again? It's hard to imagine in todays speedway world, some of these guys would have been snapped up in no time given the results they had.I'm assuming they didn't come back to Dublin the next year,so who was riding at Shelbourne Park in 1952? Interesting bit in the programme: "Johnnie Gibson has earned the unenviable nickname of "crashwall" by his habit of hitting the safety fence."He was released from Army service to ride for the team. Nick Nicolaides,24 year old University student, saw war service in Japan and China.Had his first ride on a track prepared by one of his Army unit. Don Hawley was nicknamed "Herc" for his weight-lifting abilities.

Try here.Twominutewarnings site is pretty comprehensive

Here is an interview with Steve Schofield.Don't worry scroll down and it is in english as well
-
A bit surprised Stekkers picked J.B.Jensen instead of Charlie.Because he won the Euro Championship i guess as league averages would point to Gjedde being the better of the two.Still a very strong bunch.

iris123 replied to Conkers's topic in International World of Speedway
Look at the top of the thread,Ian.Conkers has posted the relevant info By coincidence today i came across an old Speedway Pictorial "Focal review" of the G.B v U.S.S.R test series 1965 with pics of Plechanov,Samorodov and of course the great Gab Kadirov
