  1. Well the time i went to Teterow for the Bergring meeting,i got lost.Forgot to take a map with me.had to ring home to ask my girlfriend to look and give me directions.By the time i got to the meeting i had missed Kelvin's heats in the qualifying rounds Luckily enough he was a late replacement in the speedway meeting that night,so i did get to see him.But wasn't the same as on the Bergring. Then to top it off while watching the speedway meeting,i found out i had lost the keys to my bike!!!!!Went all the way back to the car park and luckily enough i had left them in the bike and someone had handed them in to the security
  2. What do you mean?Don't you fancy a birthday at the longtrack? Must say that happens to me.My daughters birthday the day of the Danish Superliga Final,2005.And my daughters got Christened the day of the Bundesliga Final,2004!!My fault though,i told my girlfriend i didn't want anything to do with church stuff.Left it up to her.........
  3. Here Obviously there might be additions or changes
  4. 19.08.2007 is the next meeting at Scheessel Steve And coincidentaly there is a meeting at Norden the day before. Not sure about that Steve.I imagined Scheessel were one of the few tracks that were ok.Mainly because they host the Hurricane music festival.I thought this financed their motorbike activities.Rather like some sort of Tractor meeting finances Brokstedt.Teterow also make most of their money during the Bergring weekend, and that finances the rest of the speedway season,i think. If you do decide to come over make sure you say.I'll make the effort to get there myself
  5. Well they did have rally cars on it last year!.You must have heard of Teterow. It is an absolute one-off(now).Simon Wigg loved the place.Kelvin tatum and Trevor Banks are also regulars. It is grass track, but not as we know it.Full of twists and jumps.....off into the woods and you can hear the bikes then they re-appear.It is something else.Plus the atmosphere!!!!The camping village by the track, with music and all the guys riding off into the woods with their bikes, doing burn-ups and getting pissed all weekend.Plus the speedway meeting on the saturday night in the stadium next door. You'd love it.Me?Bit too old for all that lark!!!
  6. If you really want a good show, lasers, laughs, autogram stand, topless fire-eaters,Stephan Katt is bloody magic on the little track,Sidecars were bloody mad but boy did they battle like it was for the World Championship,a blooming crazy start marshall,etc,etc......all the things that Brighton maybe used to be,plus German beer then next weekend is for you Oh,and last year there was even a punch-up between 2 Swedish riders(who will remain anonymous) NOS And in February 2007 we have a weekend of indoor speedway +those loony MotoX riders jumping in the air and doing all sorts of mad and crazy things while up there Kiel

    Yeah,yeah,Norbold.But who cares about apostrophes?
  8. Quite interesting to see the shape of some tracks Here
  9. I think the decision is final.Even now i have seen on Kenneth Hansens website sad news that because of this decision he won't be able to take part in Danish speedway leagues. He might lose sponsors as well.Maybe one of our Dansih members can confirm, but it looks like the Polish site has this wrong and there will be no Superliga. On the DMU site it states that the Saturday 1.Division will be the top league next season

  11. Yes Mateusz, speedway gets itself in a mess.Even in Germany there is a big mess. One league has been scrapped and now the arguments are going on about the remaining one.A few teams(those who want a number of foreign riders)have or are threatening to pull out.In 2005 i thought the Bundesliga was great. There was no limit on the foreign riders and although not top stars,it was great to see riders like Slabon,Jacek Rempala,Stuart Robson,Steffen Andersson, etc. Then last year they put a 2 rider limit per team on foreigners plus the reserve had to be a German U21.This was ok in theory, but there just isn't enough good German riders. Now they have limited it to just 1 foreign rider! The result is that some teams just are not interested. At the moment i think just 5,maybe 6.Most of the teams here in the North,Teterow,Stralsund,Wolfslake are not going to run in the league,i think

  13. Peter S is better qualified to answer that than me,but i believe Kristian Lund has been involved in training the youngsters this year.Think he has been helping with the natonal side. Not sure if he has been helping at his local track,Outrup
  14. Well i am sure this will not affect the 1.Division,Tsunami.So the youngsters will still have those meetings on a saturday,i think.Maybe like you say some challenges can be arranged.Holsted did have a meeting against a Polish junior side this season.Something along those lines, maybe.
  15. I think this is final. There have been a lot of behind the scenes discussions.Probably lots of threats and tantrums.Seems no-one wants to give in. One group want to have a number of home meetings as they have good crowds, while the other camp only want a couple of meetings.
  16. Latest news is that the Superliga for 2007 is cancelled. It seems the various clubs involved had differing opinions on how they wanted the league to be run. Some wanting to stay with the team v team format and others wanting to revert to the 4tt.No compromise could be found and so the DMU has called the league off for next season
  17. Of course it is early yet,but it is looking very likely to be Krasnikov again this season. The only one who can beat him is himself, the way things are panning out.League meeting this weekend, maybe we can find out if there will be a contender. But to me it looks like a fall or an engine failure is the only way he won't win any particular meeting.Over the GP season though he looks far too strong.Do hope one of the West Europeans can string together a few good results to put pressure on the Russians
  18. I guess there were a number of "Dirt track motorcycling meetings" before High Beech.Maybe the fact that this was, like speedyguy said, the one that attracted the press and news cameras.Maybe the fact that it was the real deal,so to say.The Aussies had arrived with their version of motorcycling, that was to become speedway.
  19. Ludwigslust in North Germany, started out as a trotting track.Remember the Jubilee celebrations a couple of years back included horses because of this fact. Was a try-out last year at the trotting track here in Hamburg.I think Matten Kröger and Stephan Katt(?) had a spin round the place to see if longtrack would be viable. Also for the past 2 years there has been a very succesful meeting at a horse track in Berlin.Even Egon Müller was impressed, and that is saying something
  20. No,no,no.That is the Danish list.I am a Londoner living abroad. And while i enjoy watching the youngsters in the 80cc leagues,i am saddened at the lack of opportunities British youngsters get.In Denmark there are at least 2 days practice plus a match at the weekend for the youngsters.I was talking to Morten Risager when he was making his comback from injury and he was out on track every day for a few weeks. Those opportunities just are not available in Britain. For one speedway usually magpie like occupies another sports stadium, whereas in Denmark the to a lesser extent Germany they are speedway stadiums first and foremost. How do we compete with that set-up?Most tracks also have open days, where kids can try out speedway absolutelly free of charge!!!!!Everything is supplied. I was at the meetings you linked to and it was a great disappointment that youngsters from Australia came over(and did themselves proud)while not a single rider came from nearby Britain Here is an ariel pic of Slangerup.Esbjerg for instance has 3 track, plus a MotoX circuit! And my name is Doug,by the way Sorry about the iris thing
  21. 48!!!!!! Look here.140+ in the 80cc.Not sure how many in the 50cc And don't take too much notice of the averages.Because all 4 leagues are in one list riders who have 9 or 10 point averages in division 2/3 or 4 have converted averages,so they are all clubbed together And here is the 50cc list.151 riders there

A bit from Mr Crossley's book about Path Racing. According to the book a crowd of about 20,000! turned up for the first meeting. The racing was held on the gravel paths that went around the park.A circuit of one mile had been marked out.In most places the paths were only 10-12 ft wide, but at the start it was 40ft to allow a mass start.Spped were relatively slow. The fastest lap was only 33.01 mph,in 1934.Some well known competitorswere Gus Kuhn,Triss Sharp,Lionel Wills,Joe Francis.Sidecars also raced. It says most of the paths used were later occupied by the National Sports Centre, very little of the circuit is today(1980s)discernible
