  2. Looking on the Assen site,it looks like the meeting at Penza might be moved a week later and to Sterlitamak
  3. Well they must have been bloody optimistic.Reading a bit on the net the automated hare thing came to Britain from the US in 1926.In 1927 40 odd stadiums were built.Maybe or probably(i don't know)not all by the GRA.I would imagine as well that at the time the building of Custom House was started speedway was virtually unknown.Certainly couldn't have known how big a success it would be.Maybe that is why a football club was formed as well.Trying to get as many uses out of the stadium as possible.I would guess speedway wasn't in the initial plans for the stadium
  4. Fair enough. But it leaves itself open for someone like Vic Dawe to come along later and put in a reference to Mr Hoskins again or Isambard Kingdom Brunel Just imagined for something like that it would have to be checked before posted. Anyone know much anything about Jimmy Baxter? And the history of the GRA?How did they become so powerful, opening up massive stadiums like this.I mean it must have been only rivalled by Wembley at the time.In the south at least
  5. Oh yeah,i know the point of wikepedia.Just didn't know you could change stuff without a cerstificate
  6. You have that power? I was looking for a link to say the info was wrong, but couldn't see anything.Other than to reply on the Newham site.Nice one Norbold
  7. It looks like they have taken the info from the Newham site and an answer from Vic Dawe to the question about the stadium.Seems to be a bit of false info on the net,as yesterday on a Stock car site i saw they had the wrong piece of land listed as the site of the old New Cross stadium.
  8. Little bit surprised Sam Masters didn't finish higher, but well done to them all.Does anyone know if these 4 will be the riders coming over for the 80cc WC?.I heard Dave Cheshire last week on the radio saying some of the boys have got their own 80cc bikes now and are putting in some practice on them.Although it sounded like the Aussie Federation wasn't too keen on them being part of the race meeting I think the young Aussies will be more than a match for the Danes if they have been riding the 80's throughout the year
  9. The famous Archibald Leitch. The man who designed quite a few superb football stadiums and Ibrox. And of course i wasn't looking for the company that built the stadium. But wondering who financed the building of it,in answer to the statement on the link. When they say it was "built by Johnnie Hoskins"i didn't believe that they meant he was out with his shovel and trowel building the place
  10. Just looking up somethings and came across this Now i didn't think Johnnie Hoskins was involved in West Ham until a few years later.Nor i thought did he have the sort of money to build a 100,000 capacity stadium. Can't be right surely? It was just by luck, looking for some details of the legendary Thames FC.I remember reading before that they played in a massive stadium.Didn't realise it was the speedway stadium A good ariel photo of the stadium.Although i see the bloody link doesn't work
  11. Spoke too soon Conkers There was supposed to be a Cup of Russia meeting last weekend in Saransk, which was obviously cancelled due to the weather.Very few places are experiencing "good" weather.North America maybe It is causing chaos with the season.Plus all the fans who have booked holidays, flights, hotels, etc.I think one of our forum members,German Speedway Fan was in Saalfelden last weekend.Lets hope he had a good time despite the cancellation
  12. Last chance saloon! The new date is 3/4th Feb.That is the last chance they have. After that it goes somewhere else. Here
  13. Another young Polish rider signs for Wolfslake Grzegorz Zengota. So far the line-up for the 3 team northern league looks like: Wolfslake M.Bartz S.Mell E.Pudel D.Kreklow M.Müller C.Demmel M.Sekula(German pass) L.Kasperek(German pass) P.Hlib(Pl)????? some confusion.On Pawels site he says Wolfslake is his team. M.Piekarski(Pl) G.Zengota(Pl) J.Kolenko(Sl) R.Jamrozy(Pl) M.Hauzinger(A) K.Puodzuks(Lat) Stralsund M.Schultz R.Haupt T.Busch K.Drossmann M.Ernst S.Petersen B.Danielczik G.Klopot(Pl) R.Kowalski(Pl) T.Gapinski(Pl) J.Kristiansen(Dk) P.Hougaard(Dk) Teterow T.Johansson(Sw) L.Tomiczek(Cz) P.Hlib(Pl)????But in the lists he is claimed by Teterow P.Dym C.Hefenbrock K.Wölbert D.Rath S.Bromberg R.Baumann T.Brosowski R.Hermann
  14. It's definitely been cancelled this weekend. They will be deciding in the next few days when and if anywhere else
  15. I do have a feeling we are going to hear Mr Johnstons name quite a bit from now on,whenever Sub mentions Scott
  16. Final results F.Zorn 30 H.Simon 27 J.Klatovsky 24 Full resuls here As for Saalfelden,i have seen something on speedway.org that it has been put back to the 11 feb.If that means it is definitely in Oulu i am not sure.Haven't seen anything official.Like you i watched a bit of the Ski-jumping and Bob and the mountains were pretty much clear of snow, more like April than January.I think they were from South Germany/Austria somewhere
  17. Day 2 I.Drozdov 13+3(25) P.Tschajka 13+2(20) E.Krysov 12+3(18) A.Shishegov 12+2(16) M.Baraboshkin 10(14) R.Akimenko 10(13) A.Samorodov 9(12) N.Kaminsky 9(11) J.Polikarpov 8(10) S.Baltachev 8(9) D.Koltakov 4(8) I.Filimonov 4(7) G.Amazpian 3(6) E.Kamalov 2(5) A.Zukov 1(4) K.Ovdin 1(3) Taken from MFR web-site Totals after 2 days I.Drozdov 50 P.Tschajka 38 A.Shishegov 36 E.Krysov 32
  18. Sanok Cup results 1.F.Zorn 2.H.Simon 3.J.Klatovsky Full results here
  19. It could very well be that most of those 20 motors that Jason discarded would be acceptable to others. That is the sort of attitude that gets riders to the very top.The sort of attitude that meant Ivan Mauger wouldn't accept his allocated place in the pits.He took the "best" place.
  20. Have to say listening to the broadcast from Oz yesterday,it mentioned Jason tested 25 or 26 engines to get 6 for the GP's.That is being totally professional. But you never know when an engine is going to blow.Scott did have 2 go while over in Oz
  21. Results from day 1 Kamensk-Uralski I.Drozdov 15(25) A.Shishegov 14(20) P.Tschajka 13(18) S.Baltachev 12(16) E.Krysov 10(14) R.Akimenko 9(13) N.Kaminsky 7(12) J.Polikarpov 7(11) G.Amazpian 7(10) A.Samorodov 5(9) K.Ovdin 5(8) M.Baraboshkin 4(Injured?)(7) I.Filimonov 4(6) A.Zukov 4(5) D.Koltakov 2(4) E.Kamalov 2(3) I.Pugacz 0(2) Points awarded in Gp style
  22. Haven't followed this too closely. What happened to Chris in the 3rd round? And the reggae dj.What is that for an accent?.Sounds like a Dubliner, putting on a Jamaican lilt
  23. Phew, thought they were going to run out of time!!! Congrats to Jason + Radio Freemantle. Will have to send off a word to them
  24. But he just said Scott was on 9 with Simon,so there is some confusion here
