  2. Ah,your parents paid for you did they? You spent most of the meeting with a coke can on your shoe pretending to be a rider. We all did that at some stage
  3. Thanks Tomaz.I thought i might be putting 2+2 and getting 5 Looking forward to the new series.Wolfslake look to be getting a good young team together.I wait to see what team Teterow put out. That could be interesting
  4. Is it just that some people hit "reply" rather than "add reply"?See it often with certain people that they have a quote, then post a reply that is nothing to do with what they have quoted. The Aussie guy who keeps changing his name is one that springs to mind
  5. Now you have gone and done it Steve.Looks like the plan was to tell Shazzy the thing was on the 4th
  6. Mmmm we have thick snow here in the North. But i see that forecast in the south for the next few days is for 10/12°
  7. It was announced at the time that he wasn't eligible,i am sure
  8. Don't think so Conkers.German tv doesn't seem to be as good on that as the Beeb.I looked at the weekend on another channel for the facility,as i just caught the end of the preview for the indoor meeting at Kiel.Wanted to see if they had it on the web. They didn't.Had a look around the Bayern web-site and although they do podcasting, they won't be doing this programme. As far as i can tell. But i used to be able to get loads of german channels on Sky when i lived in london,so it should be possible to get the channel.Just the fact that they do 2 sports programmes.North and South Bavaria.Which one you will get i haven't they foggiest.Maybe both. Our local tv channel splits into 4 regional programmes, but luckily we get them all.So if there is a bit of speedway over in Teterow or south in Neuenknick or even north from Brokstedt i can see that
  9. There is something planned.Here.But it isn't likely to be more than 5 minutes, most of which will be made up of crashes and an interview with Günther Bauer or maybe Franky Zorn Not even sure if i will be able to see it as the channel splits into regional programmes,as you can see.Not sure which one we get up here in the North
  10. That is going to be hard in Saransk.Only 5 places and 4 Russians in the line-up + Posa and Aakko
  11. Booked accomodation and transport for Berlin finally
  12. Just seen the group of riders Kristian Lund is getting together for the Danish 80cc squad Simon Fischer Outrup speedway klub Michael Jepsen Jensen Silkeborg speedway klub Kasper Lykke Nielsen Fredericia speedway klub Nicklas Porsing Silkeborg speedway klub Mikkel B. Jensen Midtsjællands motor klub Mikkel Michelsen Slangerup speedway klub Marc Randrup Midtsjællands motor klub Rasmus Jensen Holsted speedway klub Michael Vissing Holsted speedway klub Confirms that Liglad is staying in the 80cc class.Change of team though by the looks of it.Some good riders.I said a couple of years back to look out for Simon Fischer, but the 2 riders that really stand out are Mikkel.B.Jensen + Mikkel Michelsen.Watch out for these two in the future.Mikkel.B was one of the few riders to go to Vojens and really give the home riders a problem.
  13. At 6am!!! You can get from London to Scotland in about 5/6 hours. You should be able to get to Cardiff in under 6 hours from anywhere in England surely
  14. Have they got it wrong and mean the quali for the individual U21s.There would be 4 rounds in that. Can't see there being enough teams for 4 rounds of the U21 Team Championship
  15. Your assumption is wrong.Peaked a while back.GP attendances
  16. First time i have seen it tommy and i wouldn't rush to see it again.Pity, because we now have 4 indoor venues in the North of Germany.Kiel,Neustadt,Schwerin and Rostock. So there is the possibilty of a small indoor series in a way,but the Neustadt venues is a Horse jumping hall.So that suffers as the track is very soft. That means the gaps between heats is quite long as they have to prepare the track after every 2 heats.Plus Kiel is very difficult as well, this concrete surface took a lot of getting used to.Infact the juniors seemed to get to grips with it better. There wasn't an awful lot of close racing. They were talking of doing it again next year though.Schwerin + Rostock i haven't been to,so don't know what or how the tracks there hold up. As for concrete tracks,as TMW said the indoor track at Wembley was concrete. Not sure if that was the only one.Maybe TMW knows more.I thought Ivan Mauger and Barry Briggs were experimenting in the 70s with surfaces, when they seemed to be taking speedway around the world
  17. Can just tell how it was the other way round.Marlene Dietrich returned to Germany to do a concert tour in about 1961.So,some time after the war.But obviously it was well known being far more famous than Fay,that she had become an American citizen and supported actively the war efforts against the Nazis. She was met with large numbers of protestors with placards saying she wasn't wanted here, traitor,go back to America etc.Plus one young girl who probably wasn't even born during the war and must have been put up to it by her cowardly parents came up to her and spat in her face.I don't think Marlene ever returned to Germany until after her death.Maybe we in Britain are more forgiving?I would tend to think that the people in the crowd at New Cross didn't know the full details,if any details
  18. Yes,i can't for one minute imagine those in the crowds, who would be mainly people that fought against the Nazi's or suffered the Blitz would have been very sypathetic to her if they knew what we do now
  19. day 2 Preliminary heats 1. Katt 13. 2. Wölbert 12 3. Smolinski 11 4. Skornicki 10 5. Busch 9 6. Petersen 8 7. Bager 7 8. Hülshorst 6 9. Fabriek 6 10. S. Walker 5 11. Danielczik 5 12. Haupt 4 13. Hougaard 4 14. T. kröger 3 15. Tebbe 3 16. Stanek 3 17. H. Møller 2 1.Semi:Katt,Bager,Skornicki,Petersen 2.Semi:Wölbert,Smolinski,Busch,Hülshorst Final:Katt,Bager,Wölbert,Smoli Racing wise disappointing on the concrete surface.Plenty of spills.Henrik,Roberto Haupt Jörg Tebbe and Simon Walker failed to finish the meeting The speedway became a bit drawn out.But Smoli and Stephan Katt must be commended for getting the crowd going.Smoli conducting a mexican wave from the top of the Freestyle jump ramp Stephan Katt complained a bit at the end that the atmosphere was only going for the jump guys, but i do have some understanding for that as they had 5 sections of about 10 minutes and it was action all the way. Those guys are amazing.Whereas the speedway was, well,a bit boring.A lot of people went out during the interval and never came back.Oh,just to add that Adam looked great in his first 3 heats winning them all,but had a spill and looked in a bit of pain in finishing the meeting.Kept out of harms way in the semi And an update on yesterdays injuries.Seems Tobi has broken a couple of toes and Matten has quite a few broken bones in his knee as well as others.Like i said yesterday, speedy recovery Some photos here
  20. Think it is 5+1 Conkers. From what they said in Kiel today Max Niedermaier is reserve.Bloody well done for getting a reserve place anyway
  21. results from inspeed.de Semi 1: 1.Katt 2 Møller 3. Smoli 4. Janoschka Semi 2: 1.Skornicki 2. Wölbert 3. Bager 4. Tebbe Final: 1.Katt 2.Møller 3.Skornicki 4.Wölbert Couple of injuries to Matten Kröger and Tobi Kroner Speedy recovery to both
  22. And what about this meeting in Stockholm planned for March?Any info on that Liverstam?
  23. Taken from the Stralsund web-site In answer to your question TMW,it says here that the concrete floor of the hall will be used. And so that means the riders won't be using speedway tyres, but normal street tyres.Matten Kröger has tested it and everything is good.As it was i just caught a bit of a tv report from the test run,but only saw the freestyle jumps and a bit of an interview with Egon Müller.I thought the track looked very firm And there seems to be plenty of padding around the outside, rather than the wooden boards that are there at Neustadt for the NOS.I hope if they done a preview of the meeting, the tv crew will be there during the weekend and show some of the action sunday or monday
  24. Mmmmm i wonder where she gets it from
  25. Maybe.I am not in a position to know what they thought and what they knew.I also don't know immigration policy from the time, but i would imagine Nazis were allowed, even taken to America after the war. That in no way answers my question though
