  1. And just how was that "What speedway is all about"?As opposed to Vojens being the opposite Explain?
  2. Line-up for this weekends Bundesliga meeting at Olching.Olching have a strong looking team with Smoli,Tobi Kroner and British interest Andrew Appleton. Also interesting to see the track return of Michael Hertrich.Going back to his old home track to take on what he scathingly termed MSC Smolinski
  3. Thanks for the info Tomaz.Very interesting as ever.
  4. I agree there is always an element of risk involved in un-tried riders. By the way, because this came up in discussion last night.......how the hell did Matt Browne get a contract????Was it on a recomendation from Hancock?
  5. Lets face it,both Denmark + Poland could probably field a B side stronger than the States
  6. I guess they are not used to having people apply for citizenship in Hungary.Came as a bit of a shock to them
  7. He hasn't ridden for Hungary in the SWC yet.Why he doesn't ride for Slovenia i don't know.Either he doesn't want to or they don't want him.Tomazpozrl didn't know the answer either last time he was asked.Maybe he has more info now?
  8. No he got slated because it was all a con. What is it now?3 years on and he still hasn't got his passport!!!!!
  9. I agree totally with that. Some of the stuff one this thread about great meeting!!! I did say that would be peoples opinion.Unfortunately i got bored of it after 10 heats and stayed to watch another 5 and it did get better, but not enough for me to stay any longer.GB through, which is great.USA should be made to go through the qualis, like i said a few days ago. That is a disgrace that they field a team like that when others with similar or better have to qualify
  10. Interesting that no-one has signed Tobi Kroner or Kevin Wölbert.Kroner having made the GP Grand Final and Kevin having qualified for both the World U21 + Euro U19(third time)
  11. Same as Hamburg, but without the black cloud and rain If anyone wants more updates on the weather i will be here for another hour before heading down to the Glasgow Rangers pub #spit#to meet the guys and girls on the Travel Plus trip to watch the meeting
  12. Makes a football managers job a lot harder in my opinion. All the choice, trying to get the right combination and cover in all areas in case of injury, etc.A speedway manager just has to ask on of the statistical wizards on here who the 5 best riders are,and Bobs your uncle.Job done.Apart from motivating them(which is Middlos strong point,so we are told)and making the right tactical decisions(which is Middlos weak point,so SCB keeps telling us )
  13. My thought entirely Steve. What does it say about the other 2 top teams if they were defeated by a track? I mean,ok the cancelling of practice might have been a bit of gamesmanship(Stekkers?).If Jan had anything to do with either the cancellation or the way the track was prepared then i take my hat off to the man. That is what a manager should do.I would say prepare the track to your advantage and your opponents disadvantage. But the thing is who did Australia and Poland have out in the first heat?Crump + Gollob! Now they should have been straight back in the pits and told their team mates just what the track was like.I mean if top riders like Adams,Gollob and Crump can be beaten by "lightweight" Kenneth Bjerre what does that say about their adaptability? Like i said it was enjoyed by the Danes in the crowd where i was.And if the same thing happens tonight for Britain, many who were complaining will be saying something like "Well it wasn't the best meeting, but the main thing is we are in the Final".
  14. Well this newspaper seems enthusiastic enough about the meeting.Talking about a return of the dominance of the 80s.Denmark in a class of their own, etc.Great crowd, just big queues for beer and hotdogs Ekstrabladet
  15. And there was a team meeting today.Not sure if this is something new on the calendar.Look forward to it next year if it is I. Dania – 46: 13. Mikkel B. Jensen 8 (2,3,3,u,-) 14. Mikkel Michelsen 5 (2,d,-,3,-) 15. Michael Jespen Jensen 15 (3,3,3,3,3) 16. Rasmus Jensen 8 (1,-,2,3,2) 20. Thomas Jørgensen 10 (3,3,3,1) II. Szwecja – 37: 5. Anders Mellgren 10 (3,1,3,2,1) 6. Pontus Aspgren 12 (3,2,2,2,3) 7. Victor Palovaara 6 (3,2,1,d,-) 8. Oliver Berntzon 9 (1,1,2,2,3) 18. Mattias Thörnblom 0 (t) III. Polska – 18: 1. Szymon Woźniak 10 (2,2,1,3,2) 2. Marcel Szymko 4 (2,1,1,d,0) 3. Łukasz Piecha 1 (0,0,-,1,-,1) 4. Marcin Bubel 3 (0,-,1,1,1) 17. Damian Synowiec 0 (0,0,0,) IV. Australia – 17: 9. Taylor Poole 6 (-,1,2,1,2) 10. Sam Masters 2 (0,2,w,w,w) 11. Todd Kurtz 4 (1,3,d,-,0) 12. Alex Davies 3 (1,-,0,w,2) 19. Clinton Dennis 2 (w,w,2)
  16. Congratulations from me too .3 wind from Li´Glad but two exclusions.Said he is a bit wild.As Peter S pointed out it was a Danish ref as well.Great result from the two Mikkels and this in their first year in the comp.A few years to come from them and Lasse.
  17. To be honest i think most of the Danish fans enjoyed it.Those around me anyway.Particularly everytime a Dane beat Gollob for some reason. In fact i enjoyed the meeting as well.Guess it is different being there, meeting people, watching the Danes trounce the rest Good to meet up with KevH,Joanne,Mr Snackette,Peter S +Udo(though Udo is only a member of the live updates).Didn't manage to find garf,TwoMinuteWarning or Lis though
  18. Fans were not allowed to stand up by the boards, but you can get to the fence after a race. The fact that all the press photgraphers were allowed between the fence and the 2m barrier is a bit crazy though. If a bike or rider does come hurtling at them there is no way they would be able to back out quickly enough.
  19. Results taken from Holsted site 1. Michael Li'Glad DK 15 2. Rasmus Jensen DK 11 3. Thomas Jørgensen DK 10 4. Pontus Aspgren S 10 5. Simon Fischer DK 10 6. Kasper L. Nielsen DK 9 7. Taylor Poole AUS 9 8. Oliver Berntzon S 8 And not a bad prediction from me so far.All the riders i mentioned made it apart from Porsing and Thorsell. The only surprise is that Mikkel Salomonsen made it and Porsing or Schmidt didn't
  20. That is what i find great about the 80cc meetings.Just 4 riders wanting to do their very best.None of the other "politics" that gets in the way,no letting someone else win,no Jokers,no falling to try and get the race stopped. If a rider falls he gets back on the bike and starts chasing(if he/she possobly can) At least Lasse has a rest before the Final.Bit hectic for the riders in the other semi, but they will just get on with it as well.
  21. Well this was my prediction/assesment of the competition that i put on another forum a week or so ago 2001 1.L.Madsen 2.M.Bjørn 3.C.Wortmann 2002 1.N.Klindt 2.L.Madsen 3.C.Wortmann 2003 1.K.Hansen 2.P.Hougaard 3.N.Klindt 2004 1.N.Barret 2.J.Raun 3.S.Andersen 2005 1.S.Nielsen 2.T.Jørgensen 3.S.Andersen 2006 1.M.P.Toft 2.R.Bach 3.A.Mellgren(S) All apart from Anders Mellgren last year being Danish. Now to this years competitors. The top 2 from last year have now moved up onto 500cc bikes.I would make the top favourite for the title Michael Jepsen Jensen. He was the fourth rider in the Final last year.A mini Nicki Pedersen in my eyes.He has one aim when he gets on his bike and that is win.He will go for gaps that don't exist, barge others out of his way.In last years Final he clattered into René Bach(for the second time in the meeting)and got himself excluded. He was absolutely devastated at the prize giving. He currently tops the Danish league averages and led Denmark in a two meeting humiliation of Sweden in Sweden.Unless something goes very wrong he has to finish on the rostrum. From Denmark his main threats will i guess come from 2005 runner-up Thomas Jørgensen,Rasmus Jensen and Nicklas Porsing. All made the Final last year but finished down the field. Two to watch out for and they could really make a big impact are Mikkel B.Jensen + Mikkel Michelsen. They were both too young last year, but they should make the final and could quite easily be on the rostrum at the end.Big,big talents. Also worth keeping an eye on Kenneth Bjerres young brother Lasse,Kasper Lykke Nielsen and Simon Fischer. Of the non-Danish riders Anders Mellgren is a good tip to be the first non Dane to win the thing.A great talent and was slightly unlucky not to win the Final last year.Of the other Swedes, only Jacob Thorsell put up much resistance to the Danes in the 2 test matches. But we could see one or two of the others making the Final.Thörnblom,Palovaara,Berntzon or Pontus Aspgren. The Aussie contingent were the big surprise last year. They hadn't even seen an 80cc bike before they arrived in Denmark. They spent a weekend training up before the Championships, where the Danish coach was constantly telling them they were doing everything wrong.Given no chance before the competition started and no help from the Australian Federation, two riders made the Final! The main surprise last year was Sam Masters.Scoring 10 points,he was only 1 point away from making the A Final itself .He is back along with fellow finalist Darcy Ward. This year top talent Taylor Poole(who was injured last year)must also be amongst the favourites.I think all the Aussies have been putting in some practice at home on 80cc bikes,so we really could see a number of them getting to the Final and maybe a major shock. From the host nation the main challenge will probably come from newly crowned Polish Champ Kamil Cieslar, last years top Pole,Simon Wozniak and Marcel Szymko.I imagine a place in the Final will be reserved for one of the Poles if they don't manage to qualify automatically. As for the other competitors.Well the Russians are completely unknown to me.The French youngster was way out of his depth last year.Maybe he has improved. The Finns and Croatians might be lucky to make the semis. I expect the Final to be dominated as ever by Danish riders, but Mellgren and a couple of the kids from down under could really scare the Danes this time
  22. Result of 1st semi 1. Mikkel Michelsen (Dania) 15 (3,3,3,3,3) 2. Mikkel B. Jensen (Dania) 12+3 (3,2,3,1,3) 3. Anders Mellgren (Szwecja) 12+2 (3,3,3,3,0) 4. Samuel Masters (Australia) 10 (2,1,2,2,3) 5. Mikkel Salomonsen (Dania) 9 (1,1,2,3,2) 6. Victor Palavara (Szwecja) 9 (2,2,2,1,2) 7. Lasse Bjerre (Dania) 8+3 (3,1,2,u/3,2) 8. Szymon Woźniak (Polska) 8+2 (2,2,1,3,0) -------------------------------------------- 9. Jeppe Schmidt (Dania) 8+1 (0,3,3,1,1) 10. Mathias Thörnblom (Szwecja) 8+0 (1,1,1,2,3) 11.
