Armando Castagna article in SS.

Yes, but there was the famous case of a low level former UK rider who got onto breakfast tv because of an illness I think and the people interviewing him thought he was a former racing car driver, because of the speedway name........ -
Wonder if the point system that football will use to sign EU players will be affecting speedway in a similar way ?
-
Yes When I go to WH Smiths, the football magazines are all right at the front, and if they have a Speedway Star at all, it is tucked away. Is that the cause or the effect of speedways decline I wonder ? You might also ask why when you are 80 years old, you can't run as fast as when you were 20 ? Or why you don't catch as many fish with a rod and line as a trawler does with a large net.....or that piece that Eric Cantona said about seagulls or something

Indeed. We did have a little discussion about Dulwich Hamlet a while ago and how they are searching for a new stadium as the owners of their have been playing about. Think kicked them out once and they played at Tooting and Mitchams ground. Local council has fund a new site for them though.....
-
I Heard- Stock Cars also have crap stadiums. Nothing to be compared with F1

Don't forget Cieslak and of course before them Woryna and a few others

Cancelled

Have to say he looked quite ill, when I saw photos of him after an absence of a few decades Great rider RIP
-
Well speedway could be in the motorsports? But not much money for that
-
No ? Not played in schools or local teams ? Just professional ? Must say my knowledge of the sport I practically zero. But thought it was played in schools up north at least
-
Think it depends on what the money is for. If it is to support grass roots local community sports, then speedway is way down the list in participation I would think. Lot lower than 12th even

So the World championship calendar looks like 16.01 Örnsköldsvik quali 13-14 of something. It say's Jan, but guessing the FIM got it wrong and is Feb Final 1+2 Togliatti 6-7.03 Finals 3+4 Berlin Berlin must look doubtful atm. So we might end up with just one weekend in Russia

Without wishing to open a can of worms here with mention of 4 wheeled action, I was wondering what and where Ronnie Moore was racing when he left speedway for a while to take up auto racing ? I did find something mentioning his lining up alongside Jack Brabham and Sterling Moss on the GP circuit !! Anyone have some actual information on this part of his life ? Not the Atom car stuff, as that has been done a few times already
-
Of course. I was just taking the mickey out of some who think the EU act like dictators
-
Doubt it. The EU will put a block on a German produced vaccine leaving to go to the UK

MORE POLISH LEAGUE INTERFERENCE
iris123 replied to Gunner85's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Have you got a dozen or so examples ? -
But here is the news from Sweden 70-plus people, healthcare employees and people in the risk group will be given priority. Only after the summer of next year is Sweden expected to be able to offer corona vaccine to the masses. - If everything works well and several vaccines are approved, we will have been able to give all prioritized one vaccine during the first half of the year, says Sweden's vaccine coordinator Richard Bergström
-
Not sure. They did say Germany should have priority as the government have financed the research firm developing it, but then chuckled a bit saying they might have to share it round the EU !! But I see the EU are negotiating their own supply One of the things was saying if everything worked like clockwork it would take 6 minutes for every vaccine and they wanted 60 centres around the country which would give a max of 300,000 per day Bit it was more technical stuff that still hadn’t come out of the tests which might cause problems even though it was all very hopeful. But they said even if it is good, we might still have to have social distancing and masks till the end of 2021. But I didn’t understand why although I was not alone as one of the guests was also a bit confused with all the technical stuff

According to a few experts on german tv last night, it is unlikely to be back to normal by Spring unfortunately
-
It is an issue that got a bit out of control in speedway, with riders doing maybe 5 different leagues, or more if you include the odd Russian or Italian appearance in the past It is also an issue that has caused constant trouble in football with clubs that are paying massive wages losing their players because of international appearance injuries. And now recently cropped up again when players have been diagnosed with Covid whilst on international duty

Yes. Saw a number of riders over the weekend looking for teams in 3 leagues, and they weren't looking at the UK.......
