Just reading about Riihimäki on the Bahnsport site. Was going to pick up an Enduro bike.Went by train and collapsed in the road after leaving the train station and was in a coma for two days.He couldn't speak or move when he woke up.And it seems they still don't know the cause! Other news is that Franky Zorn is being sponsored and will be test rider for French Tyre manufacturer Mefo. They plan to develope a new tyre for the back to go along with the front wheel tyre they developed a few years ago.

Oi! -
I started going around the mid 60s with my parents. My mums uncle was Viv Harwood the machine examiner and my grandad was one of the St Johns at the stadium as well. Most of the family went to the speedway to a greater or lesser extent. Some of the others here like Blazeaway,Donsfreelancerider and Slaphead are relatives. But it was only in 1973 when i started going with schoolmates, that i went regularly.Dad isn't much of a speedway fan, plus he worked shifts. But i did manage to talk him in to going to Exeter a few times when we holidayed in Cornwall, plus a trip up to Hull for Briggo's farewell meeting
-
Of course i do.I was one of them. For big meetings like the Internationale the cars used to be parked right up to the Cemetery gates and beyond.Sometimes though i used to walk down the alleyway from Colliers Wood past the sewage farm and the back of the Cemetery.Came out almost opposite the gate.Going back that way in the dark was SCARY!!!!!!! For some reason it was great to see a speedway rider going down Colliers Wood High St on their way to the track. And i do have about 30 or 40 rosettes in the cellar still

Funny things come back to me mainly, like standing outside the bar halfway up the grandstand after meetings trying to get riders autographs.Always seem to recall Cyril Maidment was there by the door having a great time.It looked so plush inside. Or the old lady who stood on the second bend and used to wave to Trevor Hedge and he would wave back at her. And the burgers in the grandstand(70s) used to taste fantastic, which for a sporting stadium is unheard of in my subsequent experiences. Getting to the stadium hours before the start of the Will's Internationale and still being way back in the queue. Sideburns, bobblehats(even the riders wore them ),sawdust, one bike on the back of a car And the parade out on track to Blazeaway, the smart starting marshall and TRACK RAKERS I very, very rarely see a track raker here on the continent

Polish League Transfers...rumours...

Have you got any Polish juniors tommy? -
What would you say to some pics from Stockholm Boss?
-
Yes,but €25 entry I don't think i payed that much for the Danish Final meetings. I don't know Peter P's financial situation.I do know he travels often to GPs,etc so he probably has enough money to pay €25 to see that sort of line-up on a tiny indoor track But these meetings are held in one of the poorest parts of Germany.I think the unemployment rate in MV is double that of Hamburg
-
Not sure if you have seen this, but it seems that Germany will be host to the Nordic Longtrack Championship next summer.Danish club Gandrup are going to be promoting at the Jübek track which has been closed for a couple of years. Jübek They ran a training weekend this year and look set to hold a couple of meetings next year.Guess there will be Finnish involvement in the Longtrack meeting

Looking at it with the previous pic together,i'd say definitely under control. Showboating in front of his home crowd

Result of the Indoor meeting in Schwerin 1.T.Piszcz(PL) 2.D.Rath 3.T.Busch 4.R.Weis 5.S.Petersen 6.J.Kristiansen(DK) 7.T.Aarnio(FIN) 8.P.J.Larsen(DK) 9.S.Katt 10.M.Nowacycz(PL) 11.S.Colvin(GB) 12.M.Jader(PL) A crowd of 1,200 which the promoter says is too low to justify further meetings. So the future of these indoor meetings is in question. What with Neustadt/Dosse only getting a 1,000 fans last week and that meeting marking the end of their 5 year contract.Fact is though two meetings straight after each other and with basically the same line-up,maybe fans ain't being fooled. At the start, the first couple of years at Neustadt the line-ups were pretty attractive but gradually they are being filled with run of the mill riders. The two day meeting in Kiel is still planned for next year and the line-up should be good.Just hope they manage to make a decent safe track and that the speedway part of the programme is presented in a similar way to the freestyle MotoX. And that about wraps up the German speedway year
