  1. New German manager,René Schäfer is holding a training camp for around 18 riders this weekend in Neuenknick. He is taking the Danish training camps as inspiration and wants to make them a regular event on the calendar. It is particularly important this year as the German U19 team go straight into the new European Team Championship at Güstrow on the 22nd of March. So that will be the first meeting of the season for lots if not all the riders. He wants to take a look at the riders and get them into shape. Also the people at speedevent will be opening a new track on the outskirts of Berlin in Biesenthal. The place is celebrating it's 750 year anniversary and a floodlight international speedway meeting(27.06) will take place at an old football stadium. It seems the townsfolk are hoping this will just be the first of many meetings at the stadium.Seems the track will be 260m.Could be a good new adventure, although the promoters do have something of a repuatation for opening new venues that only last a few years then disappear. There is no rule in Germany about opening tracks near each other, but as tracks don't operate each week it shouldn't affect nearby Wolfslake, maybe the opposite News article
  2. Must be any day now.The Outrup fixtures were on Nicolai Klindts web site. But about a week ago the calendar was pulled. So maybe he was a bit premature Edit:Outrup fixtures are on Nic's site
  3. Come on guys.Is no-one going to mention anything about the new development at Malilla?Waited a day or so thinking someone would mention it without being asked Malilla Stadium And the video as well. What is going on?
  4. Döner Kebab.Started off in Berlin for western tastes and taking over the world Döner Kebap They do have some good Kebap shops here.Shish Kebap is super and Turkish Pizza(Lahmacun) is also yummy. But the Greek variant,Gyros is also lovely

  6. Some young riders hardly get a look in.Last year with Lindgrens younger brother Ludvig and Simon Gustafsson in the same team one usually lost out to the other.Generally Ludvig,i think
  7. In Denmark(last year at least) you can use tactical reserve after 3 heats if you are 6 behind and joker after 4 heats if 8 behind. Not sure if the riders have to know the rules though
  8. I can't believe Larry Ross is still going strong. Not sure if that says a lot about him or the standard of speedway in NZ nowadays.Almost a pity Mitch Shirra wasn't there as well
  9. Austrian Championship,Saalfelden taken from inspeed.de 1. Zorn 12 Pk 2. Simon 11 Pk 3. Skabraut 9 Pk 4. Schweiger 6 Pk 5. Posch 4 Pk 6. Leitner 3 Pk 7. Kreuzberger 3 Pk 8. Bruckner - Reading Franky's website Bruckner only done the one heat then pulled out because he was still recovering from 4 falls at Inzell.Leitner also crashed in his second to last heat and broke a couple of bones in his hand. Also found this good clip of the Euro Championships,Sanok on youtube
  10. Unfortunately no.My memory is very poor for remembering specifics like that or particular heats
  11. Hire a car, take the ferry to Rostock and you can see a round of the German U21 championship at Teterow,Kev
  12. 1.Who does he think was better Ove Fundin or Tony Rickardsson? 2.Arne Bergström was very strict and Olle had a reputation of being wild.Did the relationship work well or were there many arguments? 3.What are his memories of that great season in 1965 when the Dons just lost out to West Ham for the BL title? 4.Was he disappointed to leave Wimbledon when Ronnie returned or was it time for a change? 5.Was there ever a rider he went out to "teach a lesson" to so to speak?Who were his toughest opponents? I'd just like to say Olle was my first speedway hero when i started going as a kid in the 60s.Still have my battered Olle Nygren rosette Just like to say thanks for the years he spent at Plough Lane. And thanks for all the effort he has put into bringing on the youngsters.Even after all these years he recently presented Freddie Lindgren with 50,000 sek for the Olle Nygren scholarship and will be running his training schools in Örebro again this May.A true speedway here
  13. Are they signing anyone who has a bike or what? What about all the Polish youngsters?Where do they get a chance? Glad to see René Bach signed up though.
  14. Let's hope Matej Kus is better with Polish geography than he is with German. He was supposed to be at a meeting in Germany last year.He rang the promoter saying he couldn't find the stadium."Where are you?"."I am by a sign saying Landshut 25km"(or something similar)."Oh,you are near Neustadt/Donau in Bavaria. You are supposed to be in Neustadt/Dosse near Berlin!" But thanks to Matej i had a photo published in a Czech magazine about strange phenomenon, due to him being able to talk english well after a crash. When he could hardly speak a word before
  15. Despite sending me a pm last week saying the Wolfslake Bundesliga meeting was 90% sure to be on the 24th May, it is now planned for the 12.04
  16. Yes and thanks as well from me,Anders Still think there should be a book written about Olle's career
  17. Not sure. But this sort of question should be put in the "Years gone by" section for all the old stuff.Old tracks, old riders, etc
  18. Have read that Günther Bauer rode at Inzell with 5 broken ribs.Broke them in a training session at Saalfelden on New Years Eve.Not seen any confirmation of that though. On Günthers site it says he was ill and that is the reason he never took part at Flims
  19. What is the latest news concerning Varg-Olle and Fredrik Lindgren?Olle still doing work for the youngsters?
  20. Yes,Tom rode for Newport.Doubling up in his first year with the Diamonds, plus also rode for Hull while at Barrow
  21. Sure others can fill you in better than me.especially with years and averages. But Tom did ride for Stoke. Was Joe team manager?Joe also rode in the top league with Hull
  22. He only made the first bend of the first heat f-s-p!. Had a good chat with Smoli, who was the star of the show imo.And it is really a show rather than a race meeting.Which some tend to forget.I know there were words spoken to a few of the riders to calm down a bit.Still feel the speedway is a bit flat compared to the freestyle show. And i know a friend of mine was disappointed that the autograph break didn't feature any of the speedway riders, but did have the freestylers and go-kart drivers! Photos
  23. Yes,does seem he broke his right arm and leg Looking at Christian Webers stats from Wiener Neustadt and there were 44 falls in 23 heats!!!Only 5 heats finished without someone falling. These meetings on concrete are pretty tricky at best Results from inspeed.de Semi 1 1.Fabriek 2.Wölbert 3.Hülshorst 4.Walker Semi 2 1. Aarnio 2. Petersen 3. Smoli 4. Danielczik Final results 1. Wölbert 2. Petersen 3. Aarnio 4. Fabriek 5. Smolinski 6. Walker 7. Danielczik 8. Hülshorst 9. Stanek 10.Katt 11.Drossmann 12. Pisczc
  24. That's right.Probably give each other most votes in the Eurovision Song contest
