iris123 replied to Mateusz's topic in International World of Speedway
Thanks for that Mateusz. Heat 8 was great.Smolinski rode better than his score suggests, although he didn't seem to have the speed of the others.Sajfutdinov looks fantastic.Just a pity the meet up with Gollob was a bit of a let down. Will there be more on this channel? All Bydgoszcz home meetings maybe? And how do you log out?.If it matters -
Always liked Hackney and also sunday afternoons at Eastbourne

Are you his mum by any chance? You are right though about his image and press. He was of course a rider and personality in his own right, but he does in a way compare with Wiggy in that sense.Although no-one can really be compared to Wiggy.I do mean it favourably though. Just look at the competition he had just in the England squad at the time. But i always liked John Davis.More so than Simmo or DJ

Thanks Tomaz.Very informative as usual

Youth 250cc Championship
iris123 replied to Scunny Stag's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Something more to this discussion about different classes of machine. News in one of the papers that a young German lad has decided to further his career on the 80cc scene in Denmark and Poland as Germany no longer have an 80cc class. He has signed for Holsted in Germany and will also be riding in Poland. With help from family and sponsors they have also made a small track for him at his German club,Ludwigslust. But he only trains alone there. Australian 350cc Championships
iris123 replied to whowasthatberntpersson's topic in International World of Speedway
Anything can happen of course, but Denmark have a couple of great kids coming along for this year.Still hope this test match come off.But in the big scheme of things it doesn't really matter if the Oz kids don't finish on top. They will surely have a great time and learn a lot and make some good friends and rivals.Just look at Jurica Pavlic. He rode in the 80cc World Championship and didn't do terribly well. But he is probably the best rider from that tournament now on 500cc bikes.I am certainly looking forward to seeing the youngsters from Oz take on the rest -

Wasn't a great meeting, but there were a few good heats. As predicted Jurica Pavlic was the rider of the meeting.Featured in a great heat with Klaus Jakobsen and Sönke Petersen. As it seemed in every heat Jakobsen made a great start, but Jurica and Sönke were right behind him all the way.Never much between them but Jurica eventually passed Klaus on the last lap. That was the only time he was really troubled. The big meet with Kevin Wölbert and Patrick Hougaard was a bit of a let down.Jurica made a great gate and was never troubled, but then neither was Kevin in second place.Think the heat was the fastest of the afternoon as well.Another great heat from Erik Pudel who was outgated by Jakobsen but stalked him for 3 laps before taking him.Unfortunately it was just as i thought though.Jurica had little support.Maxime mazeau had a few good battles with the Croatians.Heat 10 especially a good race at the back with Pigac, which the announcer greeted with "Who said the French can't ride speedway?".The meeting was won and lost on Peter Juul's two e.f's at the gate.It was always hard for the Danes to stay in,even with Patrick Hougaard getting a tactical ride.Germany dropped two points when Frank Fachers bike packed up while in easy second place. Good to see two World Champs in attendance.Egon Müller and Erik Gundersen,in his official capacity as Junior Trainer Att: 678(paying,although i think they said 800 in all) photos

There is an interview with Nikolai Krasnikov on his return to Ufa.Ihave translated a bit with the aid of babelfish "Everything went well and success was on our side.I share the victory with my trainer Vladimir Belogonov and my father Oleg. This is my team.We depend equally on each other. With us,nobody made a large contribution and someone else a smaller contribution.Vladimir is trainer and looks after the engine and my father takes care of the rest of the bike.To be successful you have to have faith in your team. And i have faith in my team.I never doubted that we couldn't win the 4th title. I would also like to thank my sponsors and fans from Russia, even from Ufa who travelled to support me.It is great when you travel to another country and see support from Russia. But the foreign fans are also good to the Russian racers. It is unimportant if you are from Austria,Finland or Russia. If the rider gives his best,he will get support from the foreign fans. The first day in Berlin we had problems with new electrical system on the bike. But on the second day everything worked according to plan." Then there is an interesting bit about this new "Ignition system" from trainer Belogonov, which seems to say that the FIM make rules up on the spot.Surely not!!!! And a lot of riders were caught out with the ignition not working such as Drozdov and Bauer.I just use babelfish for this rather than trying to put it in better english "The imperfection of the construction of new system and the groundlessness of requirements FIM about its required application let itself be known in Berlin entirely. We talked with the Director-General of plant "Java" and laid out to it all these claims. It also agreed, it is said, 50 years drove, and not had whom problems whatever, the previous system of the emergency disconnection of ignition in the case of a drop in the racers never gave failure. Cost to introduce this innovation - in all they they appeared. We explained the situation of technical commission. But she stood on her: once FIM made a decision, it is necessary it to carry out ". Then Nicolai talks about the GP system and the Russian final "It is hard in the Russian final. You have to finsih in top 8 to progress. It is very hard. Not everyone, even good riders can make it through. But in the GP it is better. You can enter every meeting with a cool head. The main thing is to pass when possible, but to stay in one peice for the next day.A multi-stage competition better shows the athletes skill, preparations and mental ability. And then he says that it has never been a thought of his about breaking records set by others such as Tarabanko or Kadyrov http://www.bashinform.ru/index.php?id=62885

Good pics.I particularly like the rostrum shot with the smoke. Fingers crossed for saturday. We will need to dress warm though as it looks like snow

I agree with you Steve.Must say i am a bit sceptical with Wal Morton and his 3 "open" clubs in 1950.He was promoter/rider in Dublin, which i think rightly should be discounted as it is a foreign country.Count that and why not count all the Swedish/Polish/German clubs that other have ridden for.But did he have a contract with Motherwell for their meetings or were they just riding with whoever was available at the time?I mean take for example this nomadic Wimbledon that ride a few challenge meetings now.Would you consider those riders as Wimbledon riders, even though they have a proper contract with another club at the same level?

But surely Chapelizod was in another country? So if you use clubs from other countries riders like Mark Loram would have a few to add to his list
