Danish Final 1st Round Saturday 17th May
iris123 replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Wasn't the best of meetings, but i was glad to see how fast Nicolai and Patrick looked. Was talking to someone earlier at Esbjerg and said i hoped one or two of the Young Guns could give the more experienced riders a scare.Apart from Nicki and Hans it was a fairly even meeting with only 3 or 4 riders down the bottom looking out of it -
Result from Group A of the YGT quali at Esbjerg 1. Michael Li'glad 15 point. 2. Mark Randrup 14 point. 3. Mikkel Michelsen 13 point. 4. Lasse Bjerre 12 point. 5. Mikkel Salomonsen 9 point. +3 6. Emil Nørret 9 point. +2 7. Kenni T. Hansen 9 point. +1 ...................................... 8. Nicolaj Jacobsen 9 point. +0 Only managed to see the first 4 heats as it started a bit late. But no surprises at the top.Mikkel Michelsen came from third to first and Lasse was left at the gate and couldn't get past the riders in front.Good to see and talk with Erik Gundersen and also Manuel Hauzinger and Uzzell jr

Saw the programme as well.Weren't those lady MotoX riders lovely? Was a good programme.Unfortunately the racing was pretty poor both on the Bergring and in the speedway stadium.Fans as well as the commentators(Egon particularly)were complaining about the dust on the Bergring. And what they showed of the speedway re-inforced most fans views about the track. It is an Autobahn. The Bergring weekend is well worth taking in.You can get two days of racing on the Bergring + a speedway meeting in the stadium next door and a speedway meeting on sunday night at nearby Güstrow. The big curve just before the start/finish line is spectacular as they are almost riding on the wall of death because of the banking. But that narrow bit in the middle where you can see them going on both sides looks a good spot as well. To see the track, you just have to put "bergring teterow" in google maps. You can see both tracks very well on the satellite photo

Wiener Neustadt To Stop Speedway
iris123 replied to iris123's topic in International World of Speedway
Looking through Brian Collins' excellent site it seems the Killmayers did ride in Wiener Neustadt. Now whether that is the same track i don't know. What was interesting is that i found they had ridden against each other in an unofficial test match. One rode for England(2nd.Div) and the other for Australia(2nd.Div)!!!!Those were the days when you could just ride for anyone.Didn't Neil Street put in an appearance for Yugoslavia And was this the Vienna track in days gone by? Ernst Happel Stadion.Ex Wiener Stadion -

What are you on about? Do you mean the first round of the Danish Final, this saturday at Holsted? This meeting will act as a qualifier for the GP quali's if that is what you mean. But it is one of two rounds to decide the Danish Champion -
And just as important. What is the situation with Pardubice?Seems there was a rumour going round Germany at the weekend that they have financial trouble(big time)and this years Zlata Prilba will be the last!!!!!! Now hopefully someone in the know will tell us this is total ####

Ok,that is a pity. But what you say about the line-ups is what i thought.Although i didn't go to the extent of working it all out. Yes,i saw that the 1.div was also on.Was hoping the YGT would be a bit earlier,as i won't get to see more than the first few heats before going to Holsted.Good luck to Simon.I see he is now in the 1.div team
-
Well it seems Ray did stay in Sutton with the other Kiwis.Ronnie Moore,Trevor Redmond,Geoff Mardon, etc
-
You have to wait for the qualification rounds to be run first

Is there a bit of controversy here.Seems as if Sajfutdinov is blaming teammate Kenneth Bjerre for an injury he picked up. Taken from Emil's web-site I see on sportowefakty they are bringing up the Kosciecha clash with Kenneth as well Any comments about this in the Swedish press?

I'm sure he would have if he hadn't have had that e.f in his first heat.Apparently he was on the German tv report with the opinion he had made it(thinking the top 8 went through) Here is a report on Smoli.Says in training everything was perfect. He was about half a second quicker than most. Then in his first heat the engine went.He had to use his spare bike, which for some reason wasn't even set-up for the track.Guess he thought the first so good he didn't bother with the other one.

Like i said,in indivdual meetings like GPs he can be nominated by any country.Latvia,GB or even Sweden. But to ride in a team competition you need to be a citizen.Simon Wigg for instance "represented"the Netherlands and they played the Dutch anthem when he won in Longtrack.Much to his dislike According to one Latvian member he still didn't have citizenship in November of last year.So i guess he still doesn't otherwise he would surely be in the team Here

Here
-
Think he is from Vladivostok, right over the other side of the world.About as far away as you can get.His younger brother is in the Russian U19 team, but it seems Gregori has differences with the Russian federation. Not sure how different Latvian is to Russian, but they do use the western alphabet rather than the Russian one Just what i read in the German mag and on here was one member from Latvia who gave a bit more info on the problem
-
Not sure, but Hungarian meetings are normally very early.About 10 or 11 in the morning
-
Well they have a ready made replacement in Ricky Wells.Seeing as he is over in Europe for the U21's next weekend
-
Must still be problems with his nationality. He was having trouble last year.In particular with the language.Seems they have a test, and he could hardly speak a word.He could ride in Individual meetings as all you need is the nomination of a particular country. That is why he rode in the Ice Racing as a Latvian or in the Latvian GP.But to represent a country you need to be a citizen and he was having problems in that area. But Ferjan seemed to take years to get his Hungarian citizenship
