Yep.Same girl that was in Gelsenkirchen. Like garf and Ghostwalker said,Kenneth was the best choice for wildcard. He was impressive. Was expecting 20 pages or more, but i guess most people only post if the track is crap and they have something to moan about.Bet there would have been page after page moaning about how the wildcard choice was wrong if Bjerre had only scored 2 or 3 points.None of the doubters post saying how well he did though .Was good to see Gollob win,but Nicki was celebrating second place and Jason was pretty pleased just to make the final. There just isn't anyone who is going to put Nicki under pressure this year, sadly.Tbh,i didn't even notice Bomber. Great atmosphere and Gollobs win was cheered loudly,as he was when introduced at the parade. Bloody long journey there and back on the bike.Shoud have definitely spent a bit extra and gone the ferry route

Not sure how you consider asking a question on a riders career getting "carried away" to any extent They were just a couple of riders that came to mind and i ain't certain how long their careers have been. But it looks possible they could have been quite long.Plus i did initially think of Gerd Riss, who seems to have been around for ages. But he only started in 1982.So i didn't get carried away at all on that one And now you have reminded me i can strike Tomicek,Svab,Stancl and Dryml off my list And on surnames.I came across a young lad riding in the Polish Junior league with the surname Woryna. Now maybe it is a common name, but i did wonder if he is related to ex World Finalist Antoni

Just spoken to Torben Hansen from Skaerbaek and the plan looks like this Wed:Free training(15:30) Thurs:3 quali meetings, starting at 12:00 Frid:2 semis(15:30+18:30) Sat:Final(14:00)but there will be a parade through the town at 10:30 with all the riders plus a few stars like Erik Gundersen,Hans Nielsen,Puk + Hans Andersen. Sun-Fredericia will be the team championship Let's bring it on -
A couple that come to mind are Korneev of Russia who rode in the 70s(maybe he started in the 60s?) in the World Team Cup for instance and was still riding this winter(albeit on Ice)in the Russian Championships.Plus the ex Soviet, now Ukrainian rider Trofimov. He was riding back in the 80s,but was he also in the 70s?Was last year(maybe still is this season)riding for SC Trofimov from Rovno

Jim was apparently relegated to the Wimbledon second half in 73 by Cyril Maidment, but i guess took umbrage at that and never appeared.Guess he must have signed for Newport a week or so into the season?
-
Oh yes.Even though i had the match on i didn't think about that
-
Must say, again the attendance figures seem to be of some concern. Not much more than some Danish Superliga figures. But at least the Danes are keeping the costs down with only one or two top riders per team
-
Oh yes.Seems rather a shame Gregorij wants to be a Latvian. He could really help Russia become a force on the world scene again
-
The Smithy's were lucky Gollob was suffering from pre-GPitis so the score stayed respectable.Beaten by Davidsson(twice)and Miskowiak!!!

-

Under 21 Team World Championship

There wasn't a single one of the Australian lads that had sat on an 80cc bike until they arrived in Denmark it think i am right in saying.Remember one of the fathers telling me they were put through their paces by Danish trainer Henning Clausen(?) and he was yelling that they were doing evrything wrong a few days before the competition.I think they have now brought some bikes of their own,but don't think their is still an official 80cc competition in Oz.They just do it off their own backs -

Under 21 Team World Championship
iris123 replied to Hazzman's topic in International World of Speedway
It is the problem for most junior riders.Look at Kevin Wölbert, who made the 3,000km one-way trip to Balakovo recently.Luckily for him it was worth it and he made it through. But imagine if one of those young French riders ad to make such a trip!So far the Scandinavian juniors have their own zonal qualification rounds. But it seems they are soon to be scrapped. They did away with the senior Nordic quali in the European Championships this year.Would it really be worth the young Norwegians or Finns travelling down to Italy,Ukraine or Slovenia just to get 1 or 2 points? Having said that, and harking back to the dedication of the Aussies.Just look at what expense the families of those youngsters competing in the 80cc World Championships go through.Coming all the way over to Europe for a week just so their sons can compete against the best youths in the world.Fantastic in my eyes and deserves success. Then compare that to how many British youngsters enter the competition each year? -
