New Arena Safety Rules In Sweden.
iris123 replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
That is what is was saying. So i don't understand(maybe i have it wrong here)why they are stopping the run-off area when an 80cc track is inside a 500cc track? It seems that they want to put bales around the bends rather than use the 500cc track as a run-off area.Or are they trying to get the youngsters used to the idea of a fence being there? But they will ride on 80cc tracks with a proper fence often enough anyway.Oh,i don't know...... -
Possible maybe. Not very likely though don't you think given the trouble with just a practice session over the past few years

New Arena Safety Rules In Sweden.
iris123 replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
It all sounds good.....apart from this. Not so sure about this one.I mean i have often seen riders go out of the 80cc track onto the 500cc track without incident. And although i think proper 80cc tracks like Vojens or Skaerbaek with a fence around the track are better, i don't think a run-off area is a bad thing either -
Interesting.Especially that there were quali rounds in 1933.So a further question then.Who decided what was an official World Championship at the time?Who was running the sport internationally?Or was it just the British promoters at the time that decided their competition was going to be official?
-
Reading the latest Speedway World there is a programme from a 1933 World Solo Championship held in Sydney. Can't make it out.Anyone know who won? And how many other World Championships were held that are not officially recognised?Wasn't there one held in France(Paris)?

Under 21 World Team Cup
iris123 replied to srbramble's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I am glad René gets a chance. He was one of my tips for the top a few years back when almost all the Brits were picking Bridger as a future World Champ Not sure how Kidemand rides Holsted.Pity Simon Nielsen didn't make it,but looks good for the future. Will this team be strong enough though? -
Exactly. They might just as well have given it to Skornicki
-
Would have much rather seen Emil get it.Although that was never likely to happen.Maybe if Ole has some leverage on this,he could make up for all the bad decisions he has made in the past Jagus is going nowhere
-
My condolences to the family. Never saw the Templeton brothers that much, but they were both favourites of mine RIP

It's not that Sajfutdinov or Holder are not good enough. It's just the way speedway works. In one meeting on one track they didn't get through. If the meeting had have been held at another track there would probably be a number of changes to who qualified. That is speedway. But the problem with any qualifying system is there will always be 1 or 2 unfancied riders who make it through.Lubos Tomicek almost made it last year.Andy Smith made it through a few times. It isn't so bad if an unfancied rider makes it through to a one-off World Final, but when 1 or 2 make it through to a GP series then it is bad news.Protasiewiscz is a good example
-
It seems a "revolution" is being planned.Only the World Champ will qualify for the next year(2010) if all comes to fruition. According to Mr Grodzki there are too many old heads in the GP's and the youngsters are finding it hard to break through. A decision will be made at the FIM Conference in October More here, but in German

Grigorij Laguta For Daugavpils
iris123 replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
A further update on this from someone who was talking to Gregorij in Vojens. He has dropped the application for Latvian citizenship. It would mean riding in the Russian League for Vostok as a foreigner and apparently Vostok have big plans for the future and need every Russian rider.Especially one of such quality and a home town rider at that.Plus money talks Probably why he was in the Russian team in the SWC -

Grigorij Laguta For Daugavpils
iris123 replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Think that is correct about his problems with Latvian citizenship. But i think he has ridden Ice Speedway on a Latvian licence. That is easier to get than citizenship.Same with ferjan and his Hungarian licence and then eventually citizenship came a few years after -
Unfortunately i had an unwanted but enforced break from the internet for over a week Glad to see you are thinking ahead here. Will be interesting to see what developments come to fruition.Changes to the World Final format?or foreigners in Russia? Also saw something about an U21 Euro Championship which Jesper mentions. Good to have the best thread on the forum back

Good result from Szymon Wozniak though to finish 4th.Just wonder what happened to Mikkel B in his last heat. 3 stars of the future there though

Rider Gate Draw For Gps
iris123 replied to speedy den boy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
What do you mean "so does Nikki P for example get to start on the outside of jason crump equally throughout the gps."? Are you asking if Jason and Nicki start outside each other equally? It wouldn't be a draw if it was all pre-selected,would it?You do seem to be making it more complicated than it need be or is.Typical speedway fan -
Results from yesterdays Bundesliga meeting in Berlin-Wolfslake Wolfslake Good win for the home team, but a poor result for Brokstedt.Only Joonas doing the job that is expected(plus Drossmann in the juniors).Matten and Tobi pretty poor looking at the scores
-
And you would pick Kildemand ahead of Madsen or Jacobsen,Jacky? Even Stekkers didn't put Bach in the squad
-
There are at least 2 riders in Denmark as well.
