  1. Maybe at the start.Don't think it was always the case though.Certainly by the early 70s i just think it was an Open meeting.A very big Open meeting, but nothing official
  2. Ed is now an A grade rider And i think that both Ole and son Jakob are the promoters
  3. I know what you mean about Charlie Old Hurri-Ken was also a bit scary.I mean not only him,but there seemed to be a few back then that looked like they were 60 years old or something I wonder if the youngsters today think thesame about Buzz Burrows or Greg Hancock
  4. Rosettes.I do seem to recall a black/yellow(goldish more like)one,at least(could be Wolves or Newport though).Quite a few for some reason are red/blue.Guess they must be West Ham ones.Haven't looked at them in donkeys years.I will have a look tomorrow
  5. It costs nothing to talk Plus all riders should have been given a shock with what is happening.Wage demands must reflect the financial climate.Or the Swedish clubs might end up going the route the Russian clubs seem to and just use the top names for big meetings. Now bog off and stop picking on me
  6. I am just going on what they tell me here and the fact that the team is crap When i have questioned the size of the crowds over the last few years they always tell me it is near or above break even figures!
  7. I still have some treasured momentoes Jim Just a pity the memories have faded somewhat
  8. I have about 40 or 50 in the cellar.All sorts.Even an Ivan Mauger/Newcastle one.
  9. Yes i wouls agrre with Anders. Not sure 100% but i thought Smederna were not really interested in Klindt. He wasn't going well there and only turned his season around when he moved away.Being a part Smederna fan i hope the deal comes through ok.At least they seem to be one of the teams that are living within their budget, even though the team can't compete with the top clubs.
  10. Yes i imagine and hope that is just a smoke screen to fill out a list.Seeing as they have just signed for Vojens maybe they were a couple of riders on his mind at the time Hopefully
  11. And blokes with beards who have their jacket(and possibly hat)absolutelly covered in badges(usually with lots of year bars on some!!!!Who bought year bars for goodness sake?????
  12. Well looks to me like Ole says they will be announced in the next week. And Tai plus Ed Kennett are in the reckoning. GP Wildcards
  13. I don't think Lee should be in for Scott, but just because you was at ZG,what does that mean?I was at Vojens last year and Tomicek finished 4 points ahead of Lindgren.I am glad we didn't have to see Lubos in every GP this year in place of Lindgren
  14. Seems the Stockholm sports admin haven't given permission to use Östermalms, plus rumours of money problems. And this just a few days after the FIM Meeting agreeing on the speedway calendar!!!Seems it won't be held anywhere in Sweden. So where will the meeting be held?Finnland? Update:Seems from inspeed, that the Stockholm sports council took back the permission on monday. They are investing in a new cooling system, which will be layed out in the middle for Bandy, etc. They are worried that an out of control bike going into the infield will damage the new cooler.Getingarna offered to cover the infield among other alternatives. But were turned down
  15. Really don't understand Zagar getting in The others i can understand, even if i think Emil is going in a year too early maybe.Unless they just went down the Grand Challenge list and said we can't give it to any of the danish,Australian or Polish riders, plus Pavlic doesn't want it.Who is next?Oh,let's give it to Zagar
  16. They did try Brian.During the World Ice Speedway Finals in Berlin there was a conference on this subject.Erik Gundersen was there. But there is no way the Scandinavians are going to change after all the money they have invested and of course all the success.I mean, look at who is on the 80cc route.Denmark,Sweden,Poland and Russia.Look at the success they are having. Then look at who is on the 250cc route.GB,Germany,Czecho.And compare the two
  17. Forget the Chelsea rumours.Have just seen on Inspeed that apparently the Swedish quali in Stockholm has been cancelled!
  18. How did they end up with Tai as a grade A rider? He must be the most inexperienced Grade A ever(well the past few years) I can understand Emil as grade A,but Tai,as good as he is,isn't in that class yet!Unless Ole knows something about his form next season that we don't
  19. Isn't Rye House FIM approved? They have run World U21 meetings in the past few years
  20. First hints on what will happen with the Bundesliga next year.Seems they are looking at having a team v team series. Two groups of 3 teams, who will race each other home and away. Teams that have expressed an interest are Landshut,Olching,Diedenbergen in the south and Brokstedt,Wolfslake,Güstrow and possibly Neuenknick.Which makes 7 teams! The Danish Superliga rider categories would be used.A,B,C riders. But rather than 5 riders,6 will be used.Max 2 foreign riders and 1 U21 rider.Only 2 riders from each category. The A category riders will be Hefenbrock,Stange,Kroner,Smolinski,Schultz and Wölbert plus all the foreign riders Full story here
  21. Probably.Anyway i have heard that the track is still there and will be running.Just the redevelopment work has meant that the bends have now been narrowed down.Don't think it was the greatest of tracks before.Plus the surface was often reported as dangerous.I think T.Pozrl posted once that there were big stones flying up from the track hitting riders coming behind
  22. On a non-Finnish topic and back to the original. Not many riders will have many or any meetings behind them by the time of Prague. Not those missing fron the EL anyway. And if this is an up to date photo from the stadium, rebuilt and all it doesn't look like there is a track any more, although it does still curve round. So maybe they take the grass up?Or maybe i am looking in the wrong place Wiener Neustadt Or maybe that isn't grass.Or maybe that isn't the rebuilt stadium?
  23. Yes.Wasn't it the fact that it was owned by the Football club and the new owner wanted to rebuild the stadium to get into the top Austrian football league? And that would mean the track going.Maybe his plans are on hold or changed? Here is what seems to be the news that the stadium would be rebuilt Wiener Neustadt
  24. Maybe next year a promoter might bring over Nanna Jörgensen.I am sure seeing Nanna going round in just pink underwear, boots and a crash hlemet should put a few extra spectators on the gate.Especially in October Nanna
  25. I thought Gelsenkirchen also had a 3 year contract Another alternative for that GP could of course be Ole's own track Vojens. He was quoted this year as saying Denmark could have 2 GP's.One in Parken and one in Vojens
