Uem Youth 125cc Trophy
iris123 replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in International World of Speedway
Not going to make a prediction on this one.......too many riders i have never even heard of let alone seen But one to maybe watch out for is Steven Mauer.Goes pretty well up here. Was racing against Michel Hofman who won the test 250cc meeting.Should be on good equipment as well. His father is one of Seb Ulamek's sponsors and also finances the Wolfslake team........ -
I had an Olle Nygren rosette(in fact i still have it...).Great time the 60s were what with the Lisborn Lions as well Bet it wasn't only Charlie who was stoney faced at the time in Glasgow

You don't want to believe all that a rider says.....didn't Bjarne say something similar when it looked like he wasn't going to get in again. But low and behold Bjarne was in the qualis again this year, trying to get back in. Thanks henry.Have no idea about cricket and am quite happy with that -

Guess by the lack of respone,it isn't that interesting.I haven't a clue what the "IPL" is and if IMG lost the rights to it or didn't particularly want the rights to it........or what significance it has to the SGP -

QUOTE (Rob B @ Aug 31 2009, 03:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Got back from Vojens last night had a close look at the track covers. Spoke to someone apparently they cost £20,000. They have been made to exactly to size of the contours of the track, each panel is numbered. They are made out of thick heavy duty plastic, there was thick piece of velcro holding each piece together but down the egdes there was steel rope sewn into the cover to weigh the edge down so wind doesn't lift edges up. They did great job, they carefully pulled each section from the outside onto the centre green so all the water ran onto the grass then pulled it back over the track and lifted it over the fence. Track was bone dry underneath. Personally thought they should have given it a quick water before the racing started as it was dusty. If they hadn't had the covers no chance the meeting would have been on the amount of rain there was during the day. Going into all that detail, you forgot the sandbags as well to hold the covers down.I also had a close look.....they were nearly dumped on top of me -

Just looked like a tough plastic sheeting velcroed together at the edges -
Yes an important point about what system of GP people are assuming would have been used.

Said the Hofman boys were impressive .Well the 1 that rode was.Sure it was Michel who won the meeting in Brokstedt for the 250cc class.Looks a good prospect -

What is this place coming too? A Poole thread that only has 5 pages and a GP thread only running to 6!!!! Typical Vojens weather.I was soaked by about 15:30 and couldn't dry out until i got home But despite the weather it is great to see the stadium so full. The big meetings in Denmark are being well attended.Could do with a few more of the fans going to Superliga meetings. And of course the Euro U19 Team meeting last week only getting 500+ -
I don't think it is quite so easy to say "look at his league form".Winning a title no matter if it is in a GP series or a one meeting title need bottle to get past the "Oh i am in with a chance of winning this thing" scenario.Lot's of riders choke in that situation,as do other sportsmen and women.I think Hans had a bit of a psychological problem at first which would have been there in a GP series just as much as the one day finals.Even he was on record back in the 80s as saying he didn't like big tracks. And in a GP series how many of the tracks would have been of a fair size back then?

Heard last week at Holsted that all Danish Superliga clubs will have to have an airfence next season. So far only Vojens and Fjelsted have one as far as i know.I can imagine it will be pretty hard to get the cash together for a few clubs like Grindsted.I guess Peter S will be busy with this one And talking to Ivan Bjerre last night,it looks like we will have to wait until next season to see Lasse in the Superliga now

One of the important parts of the interview is this bit,i think...."Grand Prix are shown in 117 countries - and ultimately it is not inconceivable that the speedway go and become a year-round sport. - The possibilities are there. It's just about to seize them, think Ole Olsen." Whether it is possible to have the riders competing throughout the year i can't say.But i guess if tv back the plan then you could possibly see GP's being held in our winter,in Asia + Australasia -
Imo some people seem to be regarding this as a "best rider never to have won a World Title" thread.I would say that is different to a World Champions that never were thread.A rider that had not only the ability, but the right attitude to win a World Title.I guess Farndon,Huxley and Parker can be included because they won what was the World Championship of the time without the title, meeting.Star Riders Championship. But i don't think the Morans can be included as they might have had the ability, but not the right attitude........same for a lot of riders mentioned here.Tommy Jansson would be one i would tentatively mention.Who knows how good he could have been?

Fim 250cc Test Meeting Berghaupten

From little acorns and all that. But it does seem that the smaller nations are going off at a tangent to the well established ones.Although i think eventually the Scandinavians and Poles will have to come up with something other than two stroke 80cc meetings Surprised the Czechs haven't entered anyone as i thought 250cc was their thing as well.Saw the Hofman boys when they were up in the north a few weeks back and they were pretty impressive. -
I would say certain riders just don't have the mental toughnes to be a World Champ, regardless of the system.Leigh Adams i think would be a bottler in a one off final, just as he is in the GP's when the stress is on

fotos Great to meet up with you too Anders And i thought Bach was at fault in that one as well. That is the way it goes sometimes.Like you say,Denmark were always struggling after LiGlad broke the tapes.Bjerregaard had a bad crash the day before.Wrecked his bike and hurt his neck in the process, but Palm Toft surprised me with some good rides. As i said to Jan.....next year with Mikkel M,Mikkel B and Lasse Bjerre should be better for the Danes
