But it is the dilemma that faces promoters and fans From opinion on here it seems some are almost looking for a breakaway, with special low cost bikes and lack of foreign riders. Which would make it even more problematic for riders to then compete in such competitions as they would have to have/jump on another bike for international comps

It has in so far as a long list of father and sons can be found. But this is a bit different with them riding with other father and sons I don’t know if the Zabiks rode with the Kasprzaks or the Tomiceks with one of the other Czech families etc
-
Quite possible something similar has happened Seem to think that Hartmut, Martin and Ben Ernst all rode for Stralsund. Grandad, son and grandson. Then quite possibly Mario Busch and Tobi Busch rode for Stralsund as well. Could well be that Mario rode with Martin Ernst and Tobi with Ben Ernst

I didn't enjoy it Thought it looked a great idea to watch, as I had the time After 5 heats turned it off. Very one sided with nothing of interest apart from the dual overtake of Wölbert. Tape delays was the final straw. At the start I was wishing I was there. By the 5th heat, I was happy I wasn't But that might just be my attitude to speedway. Might give the Brokstedt meeting a go though

If the ban is upheld by Wada's executive committee at a meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 9 December, and backed by the Court of Arbitration should Russia contest it, it would not include the European Championship as Uefa is not defined as a 'major event organisation' in regards to rulings on anti-doping breaches

Oops . Just ignore that
-
Well he posted he was going to be the jury president. Thought my memory was ok on that

Our friend Jouni was there in an official capacity I think Whatever happened to the kid with the big hair ?

Think the Trumpton riots were the last straw for the Chigley track
-
Not sure I am I would say, what I posted was spot on, apart from maybe taking into account local councils/government. As the rules seem to vary from area to area as well
-
It's not really about woke or non woke though is it. Horse racing don't make up the rules. But they might have better connections in high places, just like tennis
-
Oh I was going to say, even your team White City beat West Ham for longevity at least. Think they held their first meeting before West Ham and the last meeting after Custom House closed
-
Fair enough. Personal opinion of course. Never went to Custom House, but did manage Hyde Road As for Plough Lane, well of course the grandstand was posh. But I thought the rest of the stadium was like a museum if you want. The walkway under the stands, especially in the period we are discussing here, with the shops underneath was fantastic as a youngster. The Supporters club shop and then there was a great stall from memory selling old programmes etc. It was like a dungeon down there. Was there also a snack shop as well ? Tbh I still even now, sometimes dream about those days and being at the programme stall and snapping up lots of old memorabilia and then I am not sure if it all was just a dream or it really was there
-
Why isn't for instance Wembley or Wimbledon included ? Both as historical as West Ham and Belle Vue surely ? Think Plough Lane hosted speedway earlier and longer than West Ham. Wembley possibly longer/more seasons as well although speedway started later

It really does. Almost like two different sports in a way Some of my most vivid memories are the queues, the packed terraces and trying to find a place to sit at some of the big meetings like the Internationale, Division 2 Riders Championship or one England v USA test. And of course the atmosphere when the lights dropped and the track was lit up, the colour of the fans with their rosettes, hats and scarves and flags. There was a buzz about the sport that made it feel important and you was part of something special There is none of that today. For me at least.

Sticking to memorabilia for the moment. The other one that springs to mind is my trip to Boston. Remember getting a photo of Carl Glover and it was an unusual square format that I never saw at any other track
-
Obviously improved over the years Tbh I am not even sure now, why I bought it. I usually got a team photo or badge as a souvenir in those days. Maybe there wasn't much in the shop or not in my pocket money price range. Or did they have two shops like Wimbledon and Hackney and I went to the wrong one
-
Same here. Made two trips up from our holidays in Cornwall. Coventry with Booey was one meeting and the Dons in the other. Fantastic place. But one of my memories was buying what must have been the worst programme board I ever saw. Hard bit of plastic just the size of a folded programme with no way of holding the programme. So you needed a metal clip or something .......
