iris123 replied to bruno's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Don't know cuz.In isolation maybe it might be read like that. But along with the posts made on the other thread i seem to be of the opinion Bradford Ace would be over the moon if the GP was cancelled -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
iris123 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think Steve is getting himself in a muddle with lot of words........It has been stated quite often that there is never the best 15 or 16 riders. The SGP is run to make a profit and that mean riders are picked not only for their riding ability, but also their ability to attract fans,tv,sponsors.I and others have stated this umpteen times Pretty sure i stated it in my post that you seemed to think suggested Lee Richardson is a worldbeater. So you carry on with going over old ground......... -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?

Including the SGP.There is a cap on how many Poles or Danes get selected which generally means one gets tossed aside so another can come in....... -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
iris123 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I disagree.I think Steve is making it far more complicated than it is.Is there really so much mystery and confusion as to why they have picked the riders they have/will? -
On the Russian forum they have the 3rd quali down for St.Johann in Pongau also on the same weekend as Sanok.Maybe like you say Sweden is a bit risky after last years balls up

Results from the rained off meeting in Güstrow yesterday. Result taken after 14 heats Güstrow B 18 M.Schultz (1-2-3-3) T.Busch (2-3-2-2) Güstow A 16 K.Wölbert (2-1-3-3) R.Haupt (3-0-2-2) Grudziadz 15 P.Swist (3-3-1-3) P.Rembas (2-1-0-2) Poznan 13 R.Okoniewski (0-2-2-3) L.Jankowski (3-0-1-2) Güstrow C 11 C.Hefenbrock (2-3-1-1) S.Mell (3-1-0-0) Holsted 7 P.Bjerregaard (1-0-0-0) U.Östergaard (0-2-3-1) Dackarna 4 P.Aspgren (1-1-1-1) T.Gudmundsson (0-0-0-0) Considering the rain started just as the riders went out on track and continued throughout the meeting, gradually getting worse it wasn't a bad meeting.Only the Swedish pair looked really outclassed.Pity Jonasson pulled out.But otherwise it was a pretty even meeting.Ulrich lining up in his new team colours was quite impressive.Twisty is always good to watch and the Germans were right in amongst it.Tobi Busch looking good, but said his form came far too late in the season.Pardubice last weekend and now Güstrow.Matze had what looked like a nasty crash as the track got sodden, but got up and wanted to carry on.He was out on track with Tobi when the ref stopped the meeting.1,000 fans braved the weather fotos

Dream Come True For Some. Ole Is Going....
iris123 replied to iris123's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Absolutely. And he probably deserves a Nobel prize as much as Obama. All his work in perfecting a slick surface from what is basically dirt ,shouldn't go un-recognised -
Dream Come True For Some. Ole Is Going....
iris123 replied to iris123's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think you have to go back to the original article, the recent statement by the FIM president and maybe also the rumour that Argentina want to enter the SWC......Ole will be given the task of opening up new markets for the SGP and maybe SWC -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
iris123 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
HenryW posted this on another thread..... "Yes, you are correct Iris. Next years World Under 21 Championship is scheduled to be run as a mini-GP series. There will be the normal qualifying rounds, but the final will take place over 3 rounds, provisionally listed as being in Gdansk (July 11), Daugavpils (August 7) and Pardubice (September 18)." -

Well maybe Mr Rising and Ole denied it in the Star, but it is back in the news.Apparently the FIM have stated today the next GP will be Olsens last in charge Ole is going -
Would be a surprise considering the work done in upgrading the place, the attendance at the recent GP and Olsen stating he was hoping it would become a permanent fixture in the GP series in the Vojens programme

In their day there also wasn't 24 places up for grabs, which is what would have been needed for Tai -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
iris123 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
He is not being harsh,he is being stupid. There is my post about the nomination and Lee.If you can make from that that i think Richardson is a world beater then show me Parsloes Again Parsloes try reading what people are saying,it helps with forum discussions ya know!!!! Is anyone writing tai off for the future? So why will we be eating humble pie?I hope he does finish on the rostrum.People are just saying next year is too early. Not that he will never make it.Blimey you come out with some ........And as for Lee not qualifying. You are right. But it was unfortunately (or fortunately),make your mind, up an illness that stopped his progress, not other riders. So i guess on that basis he does have a tenuous claim over the others. If you want to carry on it would help if you read and respond to what is written, not what the voices in your head are telling you -

Would be better to read what i wrote Parsloes And i think you will find Peter Collins and Michael Lee,even Ronnie Moore qualified for the World Final. If i am not mistaken Tai got knocked out in the quali rounds. So what point are you trying to make?He had a chance and failed....... -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
iris123 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
This is the problem with a lot of Brits, that they see things in isolation......how long ago was it that so many were raging about Bridger being a super talent and a future World Champ?????He might still make it too that level.I won't write him off totally just yet.But where did this super talent finish in the recent World U21 final? And has he ever finished on the rostrum at any previous World U21 Final?Tai is no doubt a great prospect. But i have seen a few prospects in Denmark as well.I am sure LiGlad will be challenging for U19/U21 honours next year. And Mikkel Michelsen and Mikkel B.Jensen are fantastic prospects who will make their debuts next year on 500cc..... -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
iris123 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
That is my opinion as well. The quicker they take this safety net away and make them work to get into the series the better it will be.Nicholls had it easy for too long and he has payed the price really.Rico and Harris i think have also suffered from thinking they would get a nomination to an extent -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
iris123 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Why is it anti-english to say there is no British rider good enough. That is what i said in my earlier post as well.It is a fact.Harris xouldn't even get through the qualifier on his home track!!!! -

Guess that must be your medication Strange that you didn't laugh at Spook, who also suggested Lee I guess$ having Bridger or Kennett in will give Magnus some competition for 15th place -
Woohoo.....Ice Racing comes to North Germany!!!!!! Teterow.......

Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
iris123 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sorry, been to work today and was talking to a neighbour.....you know the normal things people do in life My opinion is that there is currently no GB rider that desrves to be in the GP series on riding merit.Of course we live in a comercial world and so we will see at least 1 rider in.I hope it is just the one and no more. Now do i believe the report from Poland on tv a few weeks back that stated Tai would be in if Harris failed to qualify?Could be likely, but i hope untrue.I don't believe, like i said that a youngster should be thrown into such a series to see if he "sinks or swims".This isn't an old style World Final where he might not do well but after a few days all is forgotten. This is a year long slog.Might as well say Hans Andersen imo will never do much,so why not throw Michael Jepsen Jensen in as he looks a very good prospect. So,if we are going to have 1 rider in,then i think it should be Richardson.Firstly because at the moment Nicholls has failed miserably and Harris after showing some promise in his first year is also out of his depth and needs to have a break. That leaves Lee as our best rider at the moment.I am not convinced Bridger and Kennett will ever reach GP level.Tai will hopefully, but next year is really a year or so too soon.So to save him breaking his balls, let Richardson do it.........and give Tai the Cardiff wildcard and also see if he can qualify through the GP Challenge anyway......... As for one off World Finals.Thing of the past.Looking at them through rose tinted glasses to some extent.Would we for instance be able to hold them in venues like Cardiff if you could only sign a contract for one year in every 4 or 5?Don't tell me we could hold some meaningless meeting there in the other 3 or so years......The SWC or something you will make up......Look at the investment in stadia in Poland and look at for instance the re-building going on at Vojens.Would this be happening to this extent if the venue was holding a GP every 4 years?I doubt it very much.I know, talking to one press officer at a Polish club that hosting GP's is very much on their minds.Sure it is in Olsens as well with his work at Vojens. So there you go Parsloes.........enough for you to get going on.Just don't expect an answer if you post too late as i have to get up for work at 4 in the morning and don't spend all day in front of a computer -
Hmmm..strange that Inzell is on the list.According to this news they cancelled the meeting in the summer because of the re-building of the stadium. And that work is already behind schedule No Ice Speedway in Inzell And here is what the place currently looks like......Inzell But i guess it could be possible. If they state that training and a low level speed skating meeting might be held during the winter, maybe a World quali meeting could be held.Must be doubtful though........
