Good line-ups,particularly the second q-final.Good luck to Patrick Bjerregaard,Lasse,René and the 2 Mikkels
  2. See the SCW team has been announced and no Joonas.Saw he had a bad score the other night. Is he injured or what is the reason he isn't riding?
  3. Would look at the earlier statement by Mateusz.Looks like no hope or bob hope sadly mate
  4. Who is this guy Mason?Seem to recall a rabid article from him on the subject of Egon Müller.Thought he was a New Zealander,so does he mean NZ when he writes "these shores"? Maybe Hoskins played an important role in introducing speedway to NZ?I have no idea how the sport started there
  5. I thought there was some great races/meetings post Len Silver. The Kestrels team had some fantastic riders.Even as a South London Dons fan,i regularly travelled up to Hackney in this period. For a number of seasons i hardly missed a meeting i think
  6. I'm going to frame this and put it on my wall Who knows, maybe next year i will keep saying to him "Wow!Look at this picture........"and get on his nerves
  7. It's a tough one Norman.People are still believing that old yarn that some guy called God invented the world. What chance have you got when some people seem to think Mr Hoskins was the next thing to God
  8. Yup,Santa made a delivery to me as well 5 fotos in the latest Sanomat .......but still that elusive front cover evades me Hope to be the official Sanomat fotographer at Holsted then
  9. Wondered about that one myself 200 or 240 maybe, but what sort of level would this 2000 be?
  10. The tv report from Berlin Berlin Wilmersdorf Haven't a clue half the time what Bauer is saying
  11. What i did find amazing is that Ivanov was given the go-ahead to ride on sunday after suffering concussion on saturday night! Fotos World Championships -Berlin
  12. Well it was a great few days in Berlin. Not only the racing, but the company as well.Lovely Italian meal last night with Conkers,Jacky and Lars Few nasty looking crashes during the German Championships and yesterday.Good to meet up with Bluejam again.Just a pity about the rain as ever and yesterday the fog coming up from the track.Krasnikov wins again, but there were some good heats from some of the lesser riders.Aakko impressed me yesterday and Bluejam said the same.He had a few great battles(one with Svensson was super),never gave up.Knapp was also pretty good. But there was also a lot of guys out of their septh or maybe carrying injuries who brought nothing to the show.
  13. Just out of interest Norman, have you any more details about the Shepherds Bush meeting you mention in your article?Where in Shepherds Bush was it held and what sort of track/racing was there. And was it just a one off meeting? Thanks for sending me the article.
  14. I'll be there on thursday Well that is if i find the place I might have to phone you for directions
  15. Yes Dean i will be there.Looking forward to the 4 days
  16. Conkers, you are a tv star Conkers on tv
  17. Sadly you could say that for speedway as a whole imo.Certainly here in Germany(and Denmark to a slightly lesser extent)speedway presentation hasn't moved on with the rest of the world.Even some of the riders have crticised the old boys who "present" the meetings to the public.Look at the way other sports like MotoX and Ice Hockey are presented and it is a million miles away from speedway. My name and address will be supplied on demand
  18. I would agree with Rob on this.It is the track and the way the rider goes round it that defines speedway, rather than the accesories on the bike.Shouldn't really matter if the bike had brakes or headlights as long as the rider broadslides. But then again i have seen junior meetings where certain riders could hardly manage that either Were brakes on the bikes in the pre-1928 Australian meetings?
  19. Guess it is all relative.Wouldn't expect Gunnestad or Moi to scare many riders on the international scene.Well maybe Moi steps up onto 500cc and makes big strides, but having seen him in Denmark last year he has a lot of improving to do before that happens
  20. Yes.And Gelsenkirchen is also situated near countries without a real strong speedway tradition.Whereas other areas have a strong tradition as well as bordering other speedway countries.Gelsenkirchen was just about one of the worst places in Germany to host a big speedway meeting imo
  21. They/We had a "proper" league last year.Well the year before there was a mini league in north east Germany with 3 teams who met each other home and away. But last year was the first team v team Bundesliga. As there was 5 teams all teams rode once aginst the other. This year with 6 teams it was proposed that it would be run as two mini leagues of 3 teams and the top in each league would meet in the final. Not sure why that idea was scrapped, but this new system wasn't met with a great deal of approval. Can't seek out all the items of criticism, but here is one slightly critical one Bundesliga system. No local derbies!!!
  22. Chav or chavvy was used as a greeting by some at my school in Mitcham in the early 70s.There were quite a few gypsies and/or romanies at my school. It was normally a friendly greeting of "alright chavvy?".Seems to have taken on an altogether different meaning these past few years Edit:wouldn't believe everything you read on Wikepedia
  23. What is expected from Mika Loppi?Thought he was the best Finn in the 80cc scene last year, wasn't he?
