Bavarian was pointing out that no Dane will need to get a wildcard into the GP Challenge in Vojens. Not next seasons GP series -

Anyone with the chance to pick up a copy of the Western Australian newspaper should see something on Cameron Heeps and his performance in the YGT in next wednesdays issue -

So would BFD.Doesn't he mean any 5 from the first 6 mentioned....then the other two(travis included) -
You know that and so do some others, but to the outside world and probably the Polish sponsors......they have no idea Wales exists.Which is probably a good state of mind to have

British Speedway Gp V British F1 Gp
iris123 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I don't have any interest in F1.I have no interest in other motorbike GPs.Just speedway. But i also can see that people just are not interested in speedway. It is regarded by the media as mickey mouse and by the general public as boring. Why so many people are interested in F1 i haven't the faintest idea. But millions do.And seemingly more people attend two days of F1 practice and other car racing than attend the whole speedway GP season put together -
British Speedway Gp V British F1 Gp
iris123 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Ok if you just say the speedway was better than the GP.But then you talk about the coverage and sponsorship the sports get.Over 300,000 attended over the 3 days. That means about 200,000 attended when they knew the meeting wasn't being run.The fascination with the sport is there regardless of how exciting the race actually is.And that attracts media coverage and sponsors. How many people attend practice for a speedway GP?And from reading the various threads over the years a fair number of fans attend as much for the atmosphere and beer as for the speedway. It would probably be the same in F1(only much much more people).Regardless of the excitement lots of people will still go away satisfied at Cardiff and whereever the F1 was -
British Speedway Gp V British F1 Gp
iris123 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Major flaw with the thread from the offset is you are talking after having seen both events on tv.No-one knows how exciting or boring an event will be beforehand.Just because this years GP was good doesn't mean it will be as good next year.Same goes for the F1 -
British Speedway Gp V British F1 Gp
iris123 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Yeah, yeah, but i am sure there are loads of fans who come out from watching an exciting ice hockey/table tennis/basketball/banger racing meeting/match and think the same......"if only the tv and papers take more interest and if thousands of people had watched that they would be hooked instantly".Truth is even an exciting to us, speedway meeting is of no interest to the general public -
British Speedway Gp V British F1 Gp
iris123 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
That is your opinion Steve and mine and probably a number of speedway fans. But the figures don't lie.1,000's spend a fortune going to these GPs and buying up merchandise.Plus the viewing figures tell a different story, sadly. We are fans of a minority sport.Face -

British Riders In The Gp's
iris123 replied to Topcat's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not sure it is just lack of help. How long ago was it that we had threads and hundreds of posts saying that Lewis Bridger was a future World Champ????? He seems to get help and was fast tracked into the EL.Kennett was another who didn't seem to lack help and advice. You can take a horse to water........Sometime times will change and one or two youngsters will come on the scene again. But it will be down to luck and might take a decade or two.Doubt the system will change to bring through youngsters like Denmark and what sort of system is it in Aussie that helps those kids????More down to mentality there i think rather tha ngetting systematcal help from the Australian authorities -
Fim 80cc Gold Trophy 2010
iris123 replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in International World of Speedway
Thanks for the compliment Christian.I totally agree with what you say. Those old race jackets were superb. The Swedish with the 3 crowns etc.It really is a great tournament.Everyone comes together from all countries and help comes from all quarters.I have made friends with some of the fathers of these riders over the years.Mr Woryna being one.And it is great to see young Kacper having seen his Grandfather Toni ride all those years ago.It is also great to see Erik in his element among these youngsters.I know he is there in an official capacity for the young Danish kids, but he is there giving advice and encouragement to all, regardless of nation. It is perhaps my favourite speedway tournament/week and i was so p'd off that my bike packed up near Schleswig on my way to Vojens so i missed the Final People might think "junior speedway, not my cup of tea" but there is some fantastic racing and i must compliment the Vojens staff who organised this event superbly.Thursday was very hot and dry,but they got through 62 heats ahead of schedule and that with track prep after every 2 heats! A quick run round with the grader and a sprinkle of water and the track held up superbly.A lot of tracks could learn from this, especially in Germany where things just drag out soooo long -
Fim 80cc Gold Trophy 2010
iris123 replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in International World of Speedway
Absolutely. The Aussie boys always make a great impression in Denmark. On thursday a few of the Danish shooting stars were firmly in the Aussie camp.2 time World 80cc Champ Mikkel Michelsen and Mikkel B.Jensen were seen shouting "Aussie, aussie, aussie" And were spending a lot of time with Brady Kurtz and Cameron Heeps. And of course Camo had a fair bit of support from Rasmus Jensen and his family as he has been staying with them for a couple of months now.Talked to Brady Kurtz's father and he does hae an 80cc bike back home in Oz and Camo has been riding for a couple of teams in the league in Denmark.Just a pity(and it was said by a few people)that Arthur Sissis was not there. One of the most talented riders i hae ever seen on an 80cc bike -

Here Danish 1-2-3 -
Well having seen Moi,Sundvor and Fredriksen at Vojens on thursday i can't say i have greatly changed my opinion.Moi looked better than his 3 points i must say.He was really battling hard.....too hard.He was excluded in one heat for dangerous riding, coming hard under Mads Jensen causing him to fall.In the same heat Sundvor got his point by pushing home, but if Moi hadn't have been excluded then there wouldn't have been a chance of a point. It was a similar situation in a lot of heats for the Norwegians. They picked up points because there were only 3 finishers.Hope for better times ahead for Norway though Edited because of sticking "v"

Fim 80cc Gold Trophy 2010

Result of the first semi and a 1-2-3 for Denmark with favourite and current Euro Champ Kenni Nissen coming out on top.Should have had a max yesterday but his bike stopped while he was in the lead.....and someone said he might hae forgot to put fuel in the bike after the machine examination!!!! But Brady Kurtz had a respectable 10 points to go through to the final. And unlucky for the son of one of our forum members,Simon Selch is only reserve for the final Hope for good news about Domi Möser and Camo Heeps in the second semi Semi 1 and resulzs from Semi 2 -

Number Of Speedway Tracks In The World!
iris123 replied to davidba's topic in International World of Speedway
Well the question was if a track had held a meeting last year and or was hosting one this year.So anything that falls out of that category shouldn't be considered. And you are trying to complicate matters.I guess you might be thinking of Hechthausen,nr Hamburg. The track is only around 400m but is not considered a speedway track and is not here listed. The reason being is that the line-up and the bikes ridden are not speedway riders/bikes No-one considers Wimbledon to be currently active for speedway meetings, just because stock cars race there. And it wouldn't be considered a currently active speedway track if those shorttrack bikes held a meeting there either -

Freddie gets around quite a bit i think.Seem to recall he was in Gelsenkirchen,Parken or Vojens in the past few years.Maybe more than the one.I remember a German friend asking me to point him out and i said i hadn't a clue what he looked like now.The last fotos i had seen of him were back in the 70s when he was involed in Wembley -

Number Of Speedway Tracks In The World!
iris123 replied to davidba's topic in International World of Speedway
Exactly. There is no fiddling going on.Speedway tracks were wanted and speedway tracks are listed. Some enues host Longtrack and Speedway or grasstrack and speedway, but they are held on separate tracks not the same one .Some are totally separate ie the Teterow speedway stadium and the grasstrack or Ludwigslust Longtrack and the speedway track.Others i.e Herxheim have the speedway track inside the Longtrack. So the list as it stands is accurate -
Number Of Speedway Tracks In The World!
iris123 replied to davidba's topic in International World of Speedway
It shouldn't be forgotten though that lots of tracks stage meetins that won't be reported in the Speedway Star.In Denmark there are many meetings in the Danish 1 + 2 div as well as the "Old Boys" league and a few 80cc and 50cc leagues. This coming week Vojens will stage the 80cc World Championships which will consist of 6 meetings and maybe an international challene on top of that -
Number Of Speedway Tracks In The World!
iris123 replied to davidba's topic in International World of Speedway
Depends on what you are counting as an active track, but i think Leipzig still runs a motorsports open day which includes speedway .Generally though tracks are disappearing faster than they open here i think. When i first came over Neuenknick was pretty active with about 4 meetings per season. Now they are lucky to run 1.Wittstock opens and closes and Biesenthal was tried out and run into environmental problems.Olching and Pocking also have problems that threaten to close them.Parchim also has a speedway track in the centre of the Longtrack, but that has only hosted one or two meetings over the past years. The new track this year is in Cloppenburg. They are opening a 260m track in an industrial estate. Not too sure though if they are planning on having this as a permanent track or if this is a one off Also thought there were a few tracks in Poland that host a meeting or regular training -
