  1. Why is it impossible for you to tell us what you would say in that situation, but you can tell us what most others would say?
  2. I think the Danes certainly should be.I said last year that something seemed to have happened and apart from Bjerre coming uo the rest seemed to be going downhil.Hans,Puk,Bjarne and even Nicki. But i reckon they still have more chance of a GP win and even a World Champ next year and for the foreseeable future than England/Britain I am certain a Danish rider will finish higher in the GPs and will win more GPs next year than any of our riders
  3. Let's be honest, the only reason he got the nomination this year is that he is the best Brit available. No other reason for it.If he was a Dane or a Pole or a Swede he would have been sitting at home come GP weekend watching it on the box.I applaud the fact he has finally got going in the GP's and qualified on his own.But how times have changed when we have to celebrate that one of our riders finished 6th in the world. For many a year that would have been a big disappointment.Hope he manages to build on this, but somehow i doubt it.Let us all gloat about it for now though. We have a rider that has qualified for the GP's next year
  4. Was at Wembley in 1975.Like you,not 100% sure. But i seem to recall the scenario you mention.
  5. An article based on flimsy evidence.Just the case that viewing figures have dropped. But then that might be accounted for with the time change as has been stated and the author seems to think the fact that is was up against a big World Cup match. Not sure if i have read that right. But if so that would account for a drop as well.Nothing can challenge Football. He does bring up important issues like the worldwide penetration. But this has no fact behind it either from BSI or from the author.I would also think there is a little bit of bull behind some of BSI/IMG's statements. But unless you can prove otherwise we just have to remain sceptical.....
  6. Totally desrved honour. If only there were a few more British guys who put as much into the sport as Neil and Olle Nygren. Was lucky enough to see Neil ride a number of times. And particularly back at Somerton Park when him and Crumpie were on those 4 valves in the first few months
  7. Why not give a little rest. The team manager must have a decent reason for picking LiGlad over Darcy.Let them both develope at their own pace without always trying to big Darcy up.Putting too much pressure and expectations on youngsters does them no good.Maybe dropping him for a few meetings might be the best thing for him in the long run anyway.
  8. If that is correct it is bordering on a disgrace.I wouldn't mind guessing that one or two other countries have more U21 riders in the country.Tai is a product of Oz speedway and apart from him none of those riders look to be heading for an international career of any note.Sad state of affairs
  9. Yes fine.Actually one of the best deals from one of the most fan orientated clubs in the world maybe.....local club St.Pauli offered season tickets for life for between 1 and 2,000€ i think it was.Back in 2003 they were close to going out of business and needed money fast.A lot of promotion selling t-shirts and stuff. But these season tickets are fantastic value for someone under 60 years old .They also go against the norm in Germany of not setting different categories for different teams.Tickets for Bayern are the same as a ticket for Freiburg."Our fans come to see St.Pauli, not Dortmund....." was the reason.Good start to the campaign yesterday. The future is Brown/White
  10. Without being condecending or aggresive i am arranging a date with a lovely woman so don't have time to go into too much detail.Forgive me,but i am sure you will understand....priorities and things But you give the impression that Bayern have a big attendance because you can buy season tickets for 120€.Well as i have pointed out that only accounts for a small number of the crowd. You can't say that.If all the 68,000 people could buy tickets at that price the club would probably be in the Regionala liga or something. So you can't say look at how cheap it is for a succesful club......If speedway clubs set tickets at a very low price they have no other big source of income anyway like Bayern do with sponsorship and shirt sales.....and even when Bayern have all these other alternative income sources they don't sell all their tickets at that low price
  11. Couple of points.I would say you are probably guilty of looking at some good attendance figures as if they are in isolation. As it has been pointed out they might be good compared to Britain, but are poor compared to previous years. We can always pick things out such as the price of bread in one country and compare it to the price of bread in england and say "look and weep" Also you take the price of a standing ticket at Bayern and give a false impression. The standing tickets are cheap, but what about the other tickets, because that is what makes up the majority of the crowd. Kategorie 1: 650 € Kategorie 2: 550 € Kategorie 3: 450 € Kategorie 4: 300 € Kategorie 5 (Stehplatz): 120 € Doesn't quite look so good now does it And chances of anyone getting one of those 120€ tickets are practically nil.Bayern have 38,000 season tickets set aside and 10,000 people applying for any ticket that isn't renewed. Then i think i am correct to say if you want to watch Bayern in a European game you are not allowed to stand,so have to buy a seat ticket.......plus from last weeks comparison of Bundesliga clubs watching a game at Bayern is one of if not the most expensive stadiums if you include parking(which is the most expensive at €10 and a beer....)
  12. Probably one of the most talented riders i have ever seen. Was lucky to see him and meet Phil Mac and Arthurs dad in Denmark for those few days back in 2008.Great kid and his dad is a super bloke.Wish them all the best for the future, whatever sport he decides to concentrate on
  13. You would have seen more of him than me.It was a great time for German talent.Personally i wouldn't rate him so high.At the time i thought Smolinski and Schultz were on a par, then Hefenbrock was close behind. Then came a group of riders pretty much on a par.....Kroner,Hertrich and Knackowsi and Wölbert was a bit younger but riding alongside all of them when he was only about 14
  14. He was pretty good as a youngster. But thought i read that he was a bit too fond of nichtclubs and then gave speedway up to take up some form of fighting sport.Don't think it was boxing.Maybe some martial art.Guess that didn't work out
  15. I just cross my fingers they are more intelligent than some here
  16. Think Rune is having the last laugh on this one with his gold medal
  17. I worked with a guy who was born and brought up in Pakistan. He worked his guts out for the company i worked for and was very proud when he got his British passport. Now to some people he might have been a Paki or whatever, but to me he was a British citizen and better than a lot who were born in the country.Holta has a Polish passport because he qualified for one.He is worthy of a place in the Polish team if the Polish manager decides to choose him and the FIM agree to that decision.Makes no difference what you think about the matter or what stupid name you decide to call the Polish team.Fact
  18. Tainted in your world, but in this one and particularly in Poland no-one gives a monkeys what you think
  19. It is a list of riders spanning about 20 years or more if you take them at their best. This year we just can pick from the best at the moment. But if we produce a list from this year and going back 20 years,we can include some of the riders in your list as well. There were a few(and only a few if you look back at our history)when we produced a crop of good riders. To have a period like we are in now isn't a one off.We had to bolsted our squad with Antipodeans for quite a while because we couldn't produce enough quality of our own.........
  20. an watch the Final, and all the other meetings again on Czech tv and you won't have to worry about the commentators "drivel" SWC
  21. Great post Mateusz. Why do Polish riders have more track time than Danish for instance? And i know of riders who don't want to attend the practice days in Poland. One was telling me that was one of the reasons he hardly rode there, because the teams always wanted him to attend a day or two before and get lots of practice in.He would rather be somewhere else.Poland are not the best team at the moment through luck.My tip before the meeting panned out.Maybe it would have been different with Nicki in,but he wasn't.And all this talk about Holta has been done to death and is nonsense anyway.People should take a look at the sporting world. They must forget how Zola Budd's citizenship was rushed through for one of the Olympics.Take a look at how many africans were running in the European Championships over the past few days.....
  22. It is always the same with speedway and anything really. We all have different taste and points of view.If you are at the meeting and your favourites are winning and you are with your mates downing a few pints the you have had a great time.If you are at home and your team is getting beaten and your favourite rider is having a bit of a stinker then the meeting looks entirely different.I have been at broing meetings, but the announcer has stated what an exciting meeting it is just because(as far as i can see) the score is close.Pointless arguing about it as everyone is entitled to their opinion of what makes a good meeting
  23. You have mixed up a couple of names Arnie. It is Mikkel Michelsen and Michael'LiGlad' Jepsen Jensen
  24. Think we have had this debate before and by doing that the track sweats and causes other problems. But i am no expert
