Upcoming Aussie Season Dates
iris123 replied to BigFatDave's topic in International World of Speedway
Exactly Dave.We should be celebrating these similar but differing events held in places with weird names like Kurri Kurri and Sankt Johann im Pongau St.Johann has a pop of 10,700 or so.So an attendance of 8,000 is pretty decent.Kurri Kurri has a pop of about half of St.Johann,so the attendance is about right proportionatelly.Like you say, excellent crowd. The Int section is where we all get along.Leave all the fighting for the EL and PL sections -

Well let's see......3,000 at the recent Oz Champs meeting(which is about as big as they come down under) and 8,000 for a World Champ quali meeting in Austria. And i did spell those countries right and didn't mix them up,even though they are quite similarly spelt In all seriousness, does it actually matter which topic is at the top? -

Doesn't sound too bad.Concussion and bruising.Quite lucky. And forgot to mention the crowd of 8,000!So it said,if i heard right. The good weather got them out in numbers

TV report from St.Johann.Concentrating on the Austrians and of course Zorn.Who is apparently injured from a training crash a week ago.And someone else will have to translate what he says in the interview, because i can't understand hardly a word St.Johann And must add what a great performance by Stefan to get through

4 quid is certainly a bargain if you live in the area.....but i have to smile at Jouni Sepännens comment about the meeting in Poznan at the weekend....."3,000 km for 5 minutes racing" The iceracers do have a hard time on the road for very little actual racing...

Why No Second British Gp?
iris123 replied to BARNES's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Hampden also isn't in a great part of the city for restaurants and pubs from my experience......i always had to walk half an hour to Paddy Neesons or the Queens Park Bar Would love to see a GP in Glasgow and/or London.Don't think it is likely. And certainly doubt very much they will be anything like sell outs -
Are you saying that Togliatti would only be allowed two riders in any one quali?
-
Is that the first time they have split the Ivanov brothers up in a quali?I thought the Ivanov's and Khomitsevitch's seemed to travel as a pair. But maybe my memeory is playing up

Why No Second British Gp?
iris123 replied to BARNES's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I hear what you are saying, but it is hardly unique to have a stadium away from the bars and restaurants.Vojens springs to mind.Even Parken didn't seem to be in a great centre of entertainment the two times i went there.I would imagine the Swedish stadiums are all generally away from anything in particular. As was the short lived Gelsenkirchen and most German stadiums. It doesn't stop 40 or 50,000 german football fans from enjoying their day out.My favourite team St.Pauli are unusual in still having their stadium in amongst a residential and entertainment area.I really don't see the problem in taking a bus or train journey from the HSV stadium over to the Reeperbahn.Nor from Copenhagen centre to Parken or from Kilburn high road to Wembley -
Why No Second British Gp?

From memory, and it has been a while since i was there,so they might have moved it.But London and all it has to offer is quite nearby -
Well i have often thought that at this stage in the proceedings Nikolai has helped his Ufa colleagues out.More often than not Bulankin. So i wouldn't put too much into the fact he didn't win this or previous titles. He was lacking sharpness in the first turn.I would guess when push come to shove for the title he won't be so lackadaisical.I won't be betting against him, even having seen this performance Anyone know the attendance?Didn't look that many, but they could have mainly been standing on the same side as the camera

Oh you are a card....that will put her control over her waterworks to the test, you jester I like it.Not a lot.But i like it....as the saying goes

I'd have to say he is one of the most talented riders i have ever had the pleasure of watching.Came over and gave all the top Danes a real scare. And that was on borrowed bikes!!!Hope the lad stays with speedway and continues to progress. But i wish him all the best regardless.Phil and Arthurs dad were also great i must say -
Don't forget in just under an hour the second day of the Russian Final will be shown live.Stream running now....showing track prep Should be another great meeting, even if one or two riders have dropped out due to injury. And the entertainment is fantastic between the heats as well Russian Final Ht 2 and Nikolai again loses out in the first turn and can't do anything against Kononov and Makarov!!! Ht3 and Dimon should have had that but lost out on the last bend to I.Ivanov. :(How the hell Vitali lose that after Daniil was left sleeping at the gate??? The meeting today hasn't got the spark that yesterdays had, sadly.Bit of a gap opening up between the top and bottom. Not a lot of strength in depth with a couple of riders out and others like Tschajka not here 1. (3) Dmitri Khomitsevich (Togliatti) 13 +(3,3,2,3,3)14=27 2. (16) Nikolai Krasnikov (Ufa), 13 +(1,3,3,3,3)13=26 3. (5) Daniil Ivanov (Togliatti) 12 +(3,3,2,2,2)12=24 4. Going by the fact he couldn't see what was wrong with the sentence Norbold picked out,it does make me wonder
-
Well Monkford didn't really invent it for use at New Cross as such.He invented it for use at Crystal Palace.Or for the benefit of speedway. But in 1932 i doubt he even thought speedway would be held at New Cross. So it is rather misleading. Not a very well thought out sentence shall we say? What did Mark Twain say about the difference between the right word and the almost right word...?

Or just the direct link rather than one imbedded on another website Russian Final Some good racing in the first 4 heats.Heat 1 looked close on the line. And in heat 4 Krasnikov lost out on the first turn and then had a battle on his hands to keep second place.Ht 6 a great heat by Dimon from last to first, then a nasty looking crash to stop the race.Ht 7 Dmitri K looked to have that, but Kononov took him well....looking good here.Ht 8 and Krasnikov easy, but a great race behind him for the other places.Makarov looking out of it comes through from the back into second and Korchemaha slides off and looks ok.Great racing as ever from one of the best meetings of the season And why can't we have weird and wacky entertainment likes this stuff from Russia during track prepGreat stuff after or even before a few bevvys : ht9 and again Nikolai finds himself in third after the first bend!!Can only finish in second place. Is he going to find it hard this year?To lose to Kononov isn't too bad.But to struggle against Vitali and Karachintsev!Dimon had a little battle with Kononov there.Hope he makes it through to the World Finals again.Lot of falls occuring now the track is rutted Karachintsev sleeping there against Makarov?Heat 14 and a great race between Dimon and Vitali K And again Nikolai finds himself behind, but manages a great ride to take Dmitri K .Ht 18 and another nasty crash 1. Sergei Karachintsev (Togliatti) (2,2,1,2,2) 9 2. Dmitry Bulankin (Ufa), (1,3,1,3,2) 10 3. Dmitry Khomitsevich (Togliatti) (3,2,3,2,3) 13 4. Mikhail Bogdanov (Sterlitamak) (0,1,2,0,1) 4 5. Will this meeting definitely be on?Just asking as we have had warm weather since yesterday here and everything is melting. And i know from a few friends over by the border that it is the same there? And as i have a tiny idea about getting up in the early hours of the morning and driving over.....what do you have to pay to get in?Seeing as a few Finns are in i might be able to help my editor out with some fotos and a report .....maybe I would imagine if they can't make both meetings in one day then the Dutch riders will be in Poland rather than CZ

No they don't sell out.But that has little bearing on IMG's attitude to Britain.Different country, different situation...... -

Jesper Krisiansens write up is a bit hyped imo.Junior Champ is not U21....and Danish National squad member?Guess that is meaning he rode for the Danish U21's a few times -
Any news on the line-up for this?I know Seppänen is in.But who else will be riding?

It has been stated before by the big man that they wouldn't think of a second GP until Cardiff is a sell out -
Günther Bauer could be riding a new GM engine in this meeting. GM
