  1. Let's hope so. The numerous 5 year plans from the BSPA were useless, so maybe 10 year plans work better ? Or it is just the BSPA are useless
  2. I watched some of it yesterday It did. seem like first out of the gate won, although some of the racing was close. Maybe later on it picked up ? But very impressive from Blödorn Kemp not gating well meant he looked well out of it
  3. Some heats from the Bundesliga Final from Güstrow 25.09 on this guys channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxdt_rX4TCGIo-A3_F4Ezog
  4. MSC Brokstedt - Timo Lahti, Max Dilger, Kai Huckenbeck, Norick Blödorn, Lukas Fienhage MC Güstrow - Kevin Wölbert, Mirko Wolter, Michael Härtel, Ben Ernst, Rohan Tungate AC Landshut - Valentin Grobauer, Erik Riss, Sandro Wassermann, Dimitri Berge, Martin Smolinski MC Nordstern Stralsund - René Deddens, Maruis Hillebrand, Pawel Przedpelski, Tobias Busch, Rasmus Jensen
  5. Not sure I have ever visited a track without seeing a race. By the time I visited Stamford Bridge and Paisley there were no meetings being held there. The track was I guess still to be seen at the Bridge and also Paisley, but one end had been squared off at Paisley. Celtic park comes into the Bridge category as well as I am typing this out I did. once visit a town without ever getting to the track at Bad Zwischenahn. Stopped at the local petrol station to ask where the track was, and the person serving told me the meeting had been cancelled, so I just turned round without seeing the track and have never been back since
  6. Latvia & France progressing means there are a couple of decent spoilers in the final, No idea how you come to that conclusion. Think they will both be out of their depth. Got through because of the lack of any other competition. If Huckenbeck had any sort of back up like a fit Smolinski or Riss then Germany would have beaten one if not both of them
  7. The thing is not many tracks want to host this sort of meeting. Can’t say anything about the first night, but the crowd yesterday wasn’t much to write home about and the hosts were riding The format of multiple days was always a bit iffy, and relied often on the hosts being present.I would say most countries apart from maybe GB are extremely patriotic and not just speedway fans in general
  8. Plus even internationally another former Dons rider opened a shop that still I think exists https://www.hamburg-web.de/guide/detail/Autohaus-Rumrich and of course the Milne bros ran a shop in Pasadena California
  9. Claude Rye's Indian shop on the Fulham rd and Gus Kuhn's in Stockwell were two of the most famous in South London
  10. List is almost as long as the football players who had pubs
  11. Used to be one of the highlights of the season when it was the SWC. But I guess it just shows the lack of depth in the sport these days A lot of these riders shouldn’t be anywhere near a world final unless they are in civvies, rather than kevlars But as I said, maybe for the lesser places it can provide some good racing
  12. Is Jari Mäkinen now the big boss of Suomi speedway ?
  13. But what isn't accounted for there is the rise of sponsorship. Maybe a few of the top riders had some sponsorship in the 60s and early 70s, but not many. Now most do, and it was Terry Betts years ago who said that was the start of changing the sport from a team to more individual sport as it was always important for the individual rider to shine rather than the team, due to their sponsorship or hope of attracting more Egon Müller maybe the epitome of this. Always had sponsorship blazened on his leathers, and always more interested in the individual aspect rather than the team side of the sport
