The last time I was there, some of the terracing was still to be seen in the park. Might still be there

Always thought it a pity one of the top speedway journalists associated with Wimbledon never done a book on the subject. Must be some great stories to tell. Sadly Phil Rising never contributed much on here, nor as far as I know any articles on his years at Plough Lane ?

Just came across this guy a few days ago. Seems to have done vids on most US riders. Here is his history of Mike Bast -
Absolutely !! I mean just watching the video yesterday and hearing Blazeaway, the tingle down the spine at that anyway Was no great fan of Dave Lanning, at least as a speedway tv commentator, and looking back at some of his old speedway star columns, they were a bit painful to read. But I think he was in his element as the stadium announcer. Both the Lanning's added something very much lacking at Plough Lane in the previous years. But the drop down in 1985 I think was a memorable period for me. The local rivalries and the riders we ended up having. Ferreira, Jamie, Stingray, Todd and of course Roger, plus many decent supporting riders I loved it, whilst trying to block out the feel it was all coming to an end, with the closing off of a large part of the stadium. Think looking back with a pooor memory, wasn't there one at least scare that we were closing a season or two before we did ?
-
I thought maybe the recorder was right near a speaker. One of the things I had forgotten. But otherwise great to see the old place again and Todd, Roger and the rest
-
Brings back memories. The one thing I had forgotten was the terrible music !!!

Tbh I didn't give it much attention. Russians were angry. Could be that a sponsor dropped out, or made too many conditions.... As you say, doesn't look good yet again for any Continental natural ice tracks in the west
-
Only that lots of the western riders were complaining they wouldn't get any training in before and wanted it postponed until next year. Not going to happen. Also saw something about the Russian training camp being cancelled due to lack of funds. But guess individual riders will still be able to train

Just stumbled across this guy. Made a hell f a lot of videos on US speedway/riders, plus others. Bit crazy, but maybe some interesting info. At least some nice photos, plus he did visit the Milne brothers bike shop. Not sure if he is on something though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSoussTewKI&list=PL6jQvoj-BCrHbcajFgFhmDxkQQV4gGgqV&index=42

Nope. Disappeared I think, like the guy who ran it I was in something like regular contact with him. But when I contacted him with some info over a year ago now I never got a reply to this day. Which is unusual as he was fairly prompt replying. I hope nothing bad happened Pity, he was a nice guy and the site was brilliant

Me too Steve. Plus reading the translation of the Swedish report, it seems he had plenty of trouble with authorities and promoters

Kent kings are no more ??

I personally think the less tracks there are in the South East the less chance, rather than more chance the others have to survive. Will be very lucky to have one long term successful track going through this decade -
On the photo gallery there are a couple of pics of Posa and Hasse together On my previous link it actually mentions Hasse himself rode ice speedway and finished third in the Swedish championhip 1977 https://www.nyteknik.se/teknikhistoria/trogen-mekaniker-bakom-racingstjarnans-framgangar-6394434
