World Cup is special.......one of the best events of the year, each year. Why try and fit speedway intoa pattern that suits football for obvious reasons of the amount of countries entering?Speedway + football are totally different.Could say why have Wimbledon or Tour de France every year.........crack pot idea

World Cup Race Off 12 July

Hope Denmark do it for the reason that it would be reward for their youth policy and it is great seeing their kids take on the world.Hope Scott + the others give a good account of themselves and also the ref is not noticed. -
Way of the world now.Don't Nicki Glanz + the other Nielsen, not Simon have dual nationality?Think there are a few kids with at least one British parent riding in foreign junior leagues.Seem to recall hearing about the Headley boys (Kian + Oliver?) in Denmark and there is a youngster Sean Greenfield in Sweden.Tai Woffinden of course. In Germany there are a fair few who have dual citizenship or maybe have changed.Usually Polish or Russian riders.Dmitri Tschatschin,Marcin Sekula are a couple that spring to mind. But i did think that Henning Loof wanted to ride in the NL and was refused, and thought he had a British pass....maybe i got that wrong somewhere

Been there and done ita few times.Yeah,so foreign people lump Scotland and wales in together and call the whole mess England.Blame it on the edjumakation system in foreign. What the hell can anyone do about it?It's GB and so be it.I don't like it too very much, but hey i don't like spinach either and don't keep bleating on about it round the time ofthe spinach harvest each year  -
I asked this question to someone a few months back.He said he was trying to get the results on his website....www.speedwayzone.dk or you have to work hard and trawl through club websites to find some/most.....That was always a super service before Holsted have the results of meetings involving their teams, but some clubs don't have very good websites

Yes.I guess they are perfectly ok to use in the NL or maybe all leagues?. Also forgot to mention young Jonas B who was linked with a move to Newcastle this season, who sadly broke his foot in a fall.Hope he makes a speedy recovery -

Really don't know mate, but Rasmus told me he brought his from England because they were half the price what they would have cost him in Denmark!!!!The big worry was that if Team Morris couldn't get hold of any from one of the Danes then they would have to buy a new one from a dealer. And he was only due to turn up at 12,which would have meant missing training and then about €300 or so....it all seems a big con for what was basically the same part, just Ashleys were polished....you wonder why no guidance on such things was given. But then i guess they thought as they got them off a Dane they were kosher to use in Denmark. -

Enjoyable meeting with great weather compared to Outrup the night before.Unfortunately a very small crowd due probably to holiday time in Denmark.I know quite a few speedway regulars are away on holiday at the moment.Ashley Morris wasn't too bad really for a thrid division rider, better than i expected. Was a bit of panic in the Morris camp as the dirt deflectors they had were deemed illegal as they had been polished. The best bit was they had bought them off one of the top Danes.Caught wind of a telephone call and we asked Danish Webmaster for help and thanks to him and Rasmus Jensen at least rasmus loaned Ashley one of his so Morris could at least practice, while Ashleys dad drove over to pick some up from Peter Juul.Certainly didn't want to buy any as Rasmus said they are about double what they cost in England. So typical speedway community helping each other out.Rasmus got his just rewards for the kind deed as he deservedly qualified for the Final.Looked very good in doing so.And wants to come over to 'England' next season,so..... Zmarzlik was super out of the gate and hardly troubled.Rasmus gave him a tough time fora bit and Mikkel actually gated in front of him and lead for a lap or two. -

That is the problem....Len Silver was as much if not more to blame for employing Rasmussen. If all the Promoters got together and made an agreement that no foreigners would be employed in the 2.Division then it wouldn't have changed matters. But you know they will look after themselves....back then and still today. -

So tell us who is the future of US speedway then? And you don't seem to be up to date.We already have a 14 year old who has beaten former Polish talents like Zabik and Brzozowski and was giving A.Gomolski a race before a fall stopped the race..... Here you can see the experienced Zabik trying to force the young 14 year old out in the first curve but can't do anything to stop him and here is the race with Gomolski + you can see the lad ison the pace and trying to go past Adrian..... -
Seen Moi a few times now.Last year he impressed me at the Euro Champs in Holsted, otherwise i haven't been that taken by him.See if he makes it to the Final

Must be over as i am reading Norway have 3 riders through to the semi's

Team Race Suit Clashes

Guess you are right, there should be some sort of colour code.Trouble is teams do tend to have similar national colours.Red/White or Red/White/Blue or say with Finland just Blue/White(and i know they haven't qualified, but it just shows the problems ofthose countries involved).Sweden are ok with Blue/Yellow,but Australia are Yellow/Green....but it shouldn't be impossible to overcome.Saying that i have only seen Denmarks and their flag seems quite prominent and looked quite good, but can imagine Poland look very similar ???? -
Results from the meetings can be found on the Vetlanda site.I won't be online and ithink Anders has his hands full with organising the meetings.Biggest event organisation wise the club has ever put on so he said a few days back.Good luck to all involved. First quali meeting finished now http://www.elitvetlanda.nu/index.php?page=news&stage=1&id=2081

Wells + Fisher????? And i think the Americans usually ride against NL oppo rather than PL.Remains to be seen what the future holds for them.Certainly ain't scaring anyone at the moment.Once Greg retires they have no-one.Even England shouldn't be too worried just yet  -
Jacqueline,Rasmus and myself will be there on our way to Holsted the next day.Maybe one or all of us will give the folks at home a wave :t:
-
Robert Lambert is the same youngster who rode at Plough Lane. Was invited down to ride on his 50cc bike by Gavin Hedge. And another Dons connection is Trevor is a sponsor of Robert. So i guess in a few years time Robert will maybe be the last active rider ever to have ridden at the famous track

Ok,that sounds convincing.Like i said i have no idea about Rayleigh.Leaves it open again then.....but i would have thought it has to be somewhere around London.Does it really make sense to travel much further when there were so many stadia in the area and all the protagonists were there? Not sure why Dukes is getting so upset.I don't often back Parsloes up,but can't really see anything wrong with his post.It quite clearly isn't Wimbledon. If you know the stadium throughout its life and the area(after all we are talking London then at no point not even when being built in the 20s would it have looked like that, surely?
-
Clearly a case of incomplete records and those that were involved are now no longer with us or their memories have faded. That isn't Wimbledon, but Maitland-like the mistake gets repeated.Seems from discussions elsewhere the likelyhood is this was filmed at Rayleigh.I was never there nor have i seen any photos from that period so have to wait for evidence

Speedway World Cup 2012
iris123 replied to mdmc82's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I agree, but it isn't suddenly....i was at Vojens in 2009 when they really did surprise with pretty much the same team. But then they flopped the next year i think. But they do seem to get their riders fired up and one or two perform above what you would normally expect. That is what we always seem to lack. One or two riders that go out and beat riders they don't often beat plus the others to perform to their best.It is also like you say ridiculous to put GB on a par with the US.They have the world champ, but after that run of the mill riders who probably wouldn't make it into any other team apart from maybe Germany.Wait and see just what Hamill can do at this level now,but i guess if someone like Loram was fit he could do a decent job as a one.off....maybe. -

Thanks for the info all and a lol at f-s-p :t: -
Trying to find out the line-up for this and have most, but missing a Pole and a Brit at least here plus a rider from Belgium if there is one that qualifies Denmark M.Michelsen J.B.Andersen T.Jørgensen R.Jensen N.Porsing Sweden O.Berntzon J.Thorsell F.Engman V.Palovaara Poland B.Zmarzlik Germany A.Mochner D.Maaßen +1 Poland,1,GB,1,Belgium + Finland not sending anyone so???? reserves N.B.Jakobsen K.L.Nielsen Should be an interesting meeting with 6 going through to the final in Opole 25.08.Hope a good Brit gets picked and i imagine a super young Polish rider also.Fingers crossed for the weather..... Thinking about it,i saw Maaßen hobbling around on crutches just a couple of weeks back,so he probably won't make it
