  1. Guess you are right, there should be some sort of colour code.Trouble is teams do tend to have similar national colours.Red/White or Red/White/Blue or say with Finland just Blue/White(and i know they haven't qualified, but it just shows the problems ofthose countries involved).Sweden are ok with Blue/Yellow,but Australia are Yellow/Green....but it shouldn't be impossible to overcome.Saying that i have only seen Denmarks and their flag seems quite prominent and looked quite good, but can imagine Poland look very similar ????
  2. Results from the meetings can be found on the Vetlanda site.I won't be online and ithink Anders has his hands full with organising the meetings.Biggest event organisation wise the club has ever put on so he said a few days back.Good luck to all involved. First quali meeting finished now http://www.elitvetlanda.nu/index.php?page=news&stage=1&id=2081
  3. Wells + Fisher????? And i think the Americans usually ride against NL oppo rather than PL.Remains to be seen what the future holds for them.Certainly ain't scaring anyone at the moment.Once Greg retires they have no-one.Even England shouldn't be too worried just yet
  4. Jacqueline,Rasmus and myself will be there on our way to Holsted the next day.Maybe one or all of us will give the folks at home a wave :t:
  5. Robert Lambert is the same youngster who rode at Plough Lane. Was invited down to ride on his 50cc bike by Gavin Hedge. And another Dons connection is Trevor is a sponsor of Robert. So i guess in a few years time Robert will maybe be the last active rider ever to have ridden at the famous track
  6. Ok,that sounds convincing.Like i said i have no idea about Rayleigh.Leaves it open again then.....but i would have thought it has to be somewhere around London.Does it really make sense to travel much further when there were so many stadia in the area and all the protagonists were there? Not sure why Dukes is getting so upset.I don't often back Parsloes up,but can't really see anything wrong with his post.It quite clearly isn't Wimbledon. If you know the stadium throughout its life and the area(after all we are talking London then at no point not even when being built in the 20s would it have looked like that, surely?
  7. Clearly a case of incomplete records and those that were involved are now no longer with us or their memories have faded. That isn't Wimbledon, but Maitland-like the mistake gets repeated.Seems from discussions elsewhere the likelyhood is this was filmed at Rayleigh.I was never there nor have i seen any photos from that period so have to wait for evidence
  8. I agree, but it isn't suddenly....i was at Vojens in 2009 when they really did surprise with pretty much the same team. But then they flopped the next year i think. But they do seem to get their riders fired up and one or two perform above what you would normally expect. That is what we always seem to lack. One or two riders that go out and beat riders they don't often beat plus the others to perform to their best.It is also like you say ridiculous to put GB on a par with the US.They have the world champ, but after that run of the mill riders who probably wouldn't make it into any other team apart from maybe Germany.Wait and see just what Hamill can do at this level now,but i guess if someone like Loram was fit he could do a decent job as a one.off....maybe.
  9. Trying to find out the line-up for this and have most, but missing a Pole and a Brit at least here plus a rider from Belgium if there is one that qualifies Denmark M.Michelsen J.B.Andersen T.Jørgensen R.Jensen N.Porsing Sweden O.Berntzon J.Thorsell F.Engman V.Palovaara Poland B.Zmarzlik Germany A.Mochner D.Maaßen +1 Poland,1,GB,1,Belgium + Finland not sending anyone so???? reserves N.B.Jakobsen K.L.Nielsen Should be an interesting meeting with 6 going through to the final in Opole 25.08.Hope a good Brit gets picked and i imagine a super young Polish rider also.Fingers crossed for the weather..... Thinking about it,i saw Maaßen hobbling around on crutches just a couple of weeks back,so he probably won't make it
  10. I think the all time best translation was an article about David Kujawa when he left Newport many years ago.Generally i wonder why people just post a translation and not tidy them up,but this was superb as it was
  11. No,direct from Russian!! And the other funny thing is points -glasses from Russian. So i was wondering what the hell they were going on about at first when a certain rider got 3 glasses from a heat!!!! And we also recently had the translation of Vladivostok into strangely either Peking or Beijing or i think The East.Very strange that it couldn't make its mind up one one or the other...
  12. Pawel Tschajka-Paul Seagulls Think if i remember rightly Peter Kildemand comes out as Peter Source man And anyone with the name Roman usually translates as Novel...from Russian and of course my mate Conkers fell foul of google when translating Vasili from Russian and getting two Ice racers with the unlikely first name of Basil
  13. I must say and i know i will probably get some flack here, but i do wonder why you start threads a day or so before the info is available ,just to say, when the info is available this is where i will post it  It does then smack of trying to be first or why not just start a thread when the info becomes available???? Just saying like
  14. Well simple really.Holsted are hosting the third semi-final of the Euro U21 or U19 still not really sure but i think a few countries are still just sending U19 riders....which should i guess be the Nordic round, but asking which Finns will be there i heard that none will be riding as they have a re-arranged fixture. So was just asking what fixture is stopping the Finns sending any representation, like
  15. And what meeting is it next week that stops any Finns entering the Holsted round of the European Championship?Another round of the Kerplunk Cup? :P
  16. Yes,seen that pic or one like it on the back of sanomat?Passed it on to someone else,so can't check. But i thought it looked great.Just it bears no resemblance to the one Timo had with gaffer tape and edding marker and his own little finland flag etc....not sure i have ever seen a worse one or maybe it should be a work of art in a museum :t:
  17. Just seen Timo Lahti's self-made race jacket for the meeting!!!! I know you told me the Finnish federation was having money problems and wondering whether they could send riders to FIM meetings, but surely they can afford a couple of race jackets f-s-p???? Opinion of course and i respect yours. But if Batchelor is on form then ok,but i thought this season he has been struggling badly. If he has picked up lately then all well and good. But just look at the Poles for instance. For the last few years all we hear is how they have a brilliant bunch of youngsters. But where are they in this line-up?????The same old faces here for me
  18. As always not really an inspiring line-up,but that is speedway.Would have been good to see Ward in there.Just hope that Pavlic doesn't make it with home track advantage.Zagar as well has probably ridden there more than most and he has shown enough times like Bjarne Pedersen or Protasiewicz that he isn't really up to it and hasn't developed since his GP days,so can't see him being any better now. I hope it is Vaculik,LIGlad and Niels who has moved up a level this year from his GP days
  19. So,to sum up 1.Niels 2.LiGlad 3.Watt 4.Walasek 5.Miedzinski I'm not saying it is wrong.I am saying sidney is wrong.Just read what i wrote.....seems a few people are having trouble with reading tonight
  20. I disagree sidney.we always seem to support the plucky loser.Henry Cooper for instance.Chris as well.He ain't up to it but gets support because he isa nice guy and has nicely coloured bikes.....maybe not the last bit
