  1. I do see quite a various crwd when i have watched Premier League lately. Also see a good few Japanese or Korean fans in the crowd when one of their countrymen have signed for a team
  2. Used to go to Wimbledon with an Asian friend back in the 70s
  3. Couldn't find Greenford on maps, but a couple of overhead pics https://britainfromabove.org.uk/image/epw034577?gazetteer=Ealing&ADMIN_AREA=Ealing&quicktabs_image=1&ref=214 https://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/image/epw031779 Earls Barton : https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=17&lat=52.25185&lon=-0.74400&layers=10&b=1
  4. Hastings i think : https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=17&lat=50.87503&lon=0.58677&layers=193&b=1
  5. I once bumped into a speedway rider at a petrol station, but never in a supermarket as of yet. One day maybe
  6. I just answered the title of best, not most improved or future talent. For me there was only one choice, at least head and shoulders ahead of Hans. But Ermolenko's career basically passed me by without me taking much notice. Although i was at Bradford and he did impress
  7. That looks pretty much where the team pic was taken. I wonderedif it was just for publicity to get the bridge in the background. I did look there from google earth or whatever in the hope that the tree in the photo was still there. I'd guess that is right
  8. I don't know how well Ermolenko rode , but Ole is for me without comparison. Could it be that Sam's achievement was against stronger oppo ? 1970..Wolves..35..160..408..2..10.25..12F..1P1971..Wolves..35..159..435..2..10.99..17F..2P1972..Wolves..31..150..424..3..11.39..18F1973..Wolves..29..136..361..7..10.82..12F.2P1974..Wolves..27..119..335..4..11.39..15F..2P1975..Wolves..22..99..267..0..10.79..7F Compared to Nielsen 1977..Wolves..32..144..230..31..7.251978..Wolves..30..137..285..18..8.85..5F..1P1979..Wolves..34..157..392..12..10.29..9F..1P1980..Wolves..29..137..359..7..10.69..11F..2P Sam 1986..Wolves..39..184..407..40..9.72..3F..8P1987..Wolves..27..127..292..21..9.86..2F..2P1988..Wolves..41..226..504..27..9.40..2F..3P1989..Wolves..16..80..179..18..9.85..1F..3P1990..Wolves..24..133..269..26..8.87..3P1991..Wolves..27..143..364..20..10.74..5F..8P1992..Wolves..28..151..368..19..10.25..5F..4P1993..Wolves..43..237..627..32..11.12..8F..9P1994..Wolves..31..166..388..20..9.83..6F..3P1995..Wolves..41..243..564..66..10.37..13P https://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/2134/ole-olsen
  9. This is one of the craziest and not too far away. Look how they built the houses !!! The old Farmsen Trabrennbahn, which was a horse trotting track used for Sand track racing https://www.google.de/maps/search/barmbek+1948/@53.5949073,10.1015393,568m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=de https://www.speedway-yesterday.de/html/body_rider-3.html
  10. Yes, has another look and you are right Team World Championships are not on the calendar. Also seen that the MFR have said that only Valeev should have a wildcard. All other Russian riders must take the usual route of qualifying through the Russian Final, as Krasnikov did etc......
  11. Thought it is planned, just no venue announced. But maybe I dreamed that
  12. Managed to track down the old Hamburg Dirt track from 1929. Also the venue for one of the biggest boxing attendances in Europe. 80,000-100,000 estimated for Max Schmelling. Up in the top right
  13. No. I even looked on a local history f Chiswick site and found nothing. I guess the park might make sense for the Chiswick cycle Speedway team. It is in Chiswick at least. But that doesn't rule out another cycle speedway track on the other side of the river. The one photo f the speedway team looks as if it was taken by Chiswick Bridge, but that might have been for publicity, rather than where the track was......
  14. Absolutely . When you consider those nominated. Local stars instead of International. But not a single bike racer, makes one feel as if there is a stgma against the sport(s)
  15. Cordy Milne and Lili St. Cyr were married for 2 years. They dated for 4 years after getting together in 1932 and married in Jul 1936. 2 years later they divorced in Dec 1938.
  16. Found this. Cordy's wife of course was quite famous herself https://mobile.twitter.com/kellydinardo/status/757626589362413568/photo/1 American Speedway Champion Married At North London Register Office . Cordy Milne , the American speedway champion who rides for Hackney Wick team , was married to Miss Willis van Schaack , who made a special air dash to England from California for the wedding , at Stoke Newington register office , N . Dick Case , the Hackney Wick captain , was best man . Huge crowds gathered outside the register office and police had to provide an escort for the bride and groom as they left . Milne and his bride are both from California
  17. Plymouth : https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16&lat=50.39913&lon=-4.14650&layers=193&b=1 St. Austell : https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=17&lat=50.34567&lon=-4.73947&layers=193&b=1 Must have been the stadium I visited for Stock Cars, back in the 80s
  18. Already found that Had a go at finding one of the more obscure, Chiswick, but I wonder where it actually was. Supposedly on the Mortlake rd, between Chiswick and Kew Bridge, but on a cycle speedway site, the only Chiswick cycle speedway track was on the other side of the river.....hmmm
  19. Yes one of my extended family started out at the Isle of Wight and Iwade, but gave up after a year or so to concentrate on playing for Crystal Palace youths
  20. Stamford Bridge roughly as I remember it, with the track still visible : https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=17&lat=51.48178&lon=-0.18950&layers=170&b=1 Norwich : https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16&lat=52.66604&lon=1.27257&layers=193&b=1
  21. Guess by then the famous Lew Coffin school had closed ? But I would guess some did approach the promoter to run training schools Ivan Mauger and Olle Nygren spring to mind
  22. One of the tracks I never got to. Wasn't it down as the fastest in the country ? Crewe : https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16&lat=53.09662&lon=-2.43575&layers=193&b=1
  23. A super. Knew it should be next to the station. Just couldn’t find the right map
