Referee Just Bottled Semi Decision
iris123 replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The thing is Philip you are often here telling us that ex riders say this and that as if it is gospel,so when 3 ex riders in the studio can watch the replays and say Holder should have gone, what do you do?Ignore that and say what someone else said is gospel..... No,but almost saying it.Fact is what you are saying is crazy imo, because what you are telling us is,if a rider has a bad start all he has to do is run into another rider and it will be all 4 back. The start was satisfactory,Holder was losing and lost his head for a split second, was the cause of the stoppage and should have been out.If that would have meant he lost his crown or kept it it was down to what happened after.No-one will now know, but tainted title imo -

Exactly Ghostwalker, the referees decison(dodgy imo)did decide the title. As i said after the incident, sad and it spoils what was a great GP season.I would echo Philip Risings words on the other thread that i do think Holder will make a good world champion. Not sure if it says much about him or just this forum now,but there aren't that many congratulations for a new world champ.Used to be page after page for most champs. But then again there used to be 60 or 70 pages on a Poole meeting before the thing had even started, now there are hardly any for the play-off final,so maybe understandable. Said over the last winter that i wasn't convinced that AJ was going to move up to challenge for the title and was proved right. This time i really hope that Antonio carries on his improved form and actually makes a challenge next year. All in all a very good GP season which promises more of the same next year -
Agree there sidney.Glad i helped in a small way to get him the gig.Never thought he would be outscoring Rene, who was one of my favourite juniors. But could see that MPT didn't lack determination and also can be quite exciting at times Like you say Scunthorpe give their riders a chance rather than chopping and changing

Oh come on,he came in as a WC and won a GP!!!How many riders have done that? And he is in a good position to win the world U21 title. Now compare that to Tai's or any other current British rider.Michael is rising fast. And i don't see Vojens as being so significant. He was only a Vojens rider for a couple of years in his career and they don't ride too often at home.In fact in his first season he had to do a number of div 1 meetings(6 or 8,can't remember which)before he was even allowed to ride in the Superliga team,so that was really the first half season gone before he had done that. And in div 1 they have only 2 or 3 home meetings per season. So riders in the other main countries probably have more meetings at home in one season than Michael has done on the Vojens 500cc track in his career......Tai is making steady progress, but after a steady start Jepsen Jensen is having the sort of season Tai can only dream, of.No comparison. If he was a Brit he would be a dead cert for next season and Tai wouldn't get a mention

I used to work with a guy from Chippenham(well i think he originally came from somewhere near Sutton)and sometimes in our breaks when the opportunity arose he would lean back, put his hands behind his head and let out a knowing groan before starting off with"The best feeling i ever had was running out onto that pitch at Wembley....."and telling anyone in the room about the times he played in goal for England schoolboys.Someone told me at one stage he had played in a works football tournament and was rubbish,so i wrote a letter off to the FA asking for details.I got a nice reply on FA headed paper saying that no-one with that surname had ever played for England at any level.I carried it around with me and told a couple of colleagues about it,but i think one must have tipped him off because from that day on he never once told the story in my presence.........

Robert Lambert National League Next Year?
iris123 replied to Damon's topic in National League Speedway
Yeah right. We have a few youngsters who seem to be doing great at the moment.Robert,Nathan Greaves,Zach Wajknecht and Adam Ellis to name the most prominent(to me at least). The good thing is they all seem to be taking different routes, which proves no one way is the right way nor does one suit all. What should we do when they get a bit of success?Ignore it?Of course not.But neither does a few words or threads on a forum put untold pressure on any of them.It is though the way that they deal with pressure(and that comes mainly from their own success)that will sort out the also rans from the champions. At some stage they stop turning up to meetings being the rank outsider or one of the spoilers, but they become one of if not the favourite to win.And how they cope with that is the deciding factor. And how they cope with criticism and how they deal with the success. Let us not get too sarky over this and just see how things go.Maybe for varying factors none progress to Elite or GP level.maybe they all do or mabye something in between.Of course we desperately need a top GP standard rider or two.Long time waiting. It is almost getting to the heights of the American search for the Boxing "great white hope". But at least at the moment other riders are having the pressure heaped on them.Sadly none arereally coping that well with it -
Yes Woffinden seems to have the Joe Bugner effect on a lot of people. No matter how good he will be he is never going to endear himself to people as much as someone who wear their partiotism on their sleeve and tai their flag to the mast
-
In the SWC race-off in Sweden Jepsen Jensen was not beaten by one GB rider. That means not by Harris,Nicholls or the two heats that Woffi came up against him
-
And as far as i remember none of the world U21 rounds have been in Denmark, let alone on the Vojens 80cc track
-
He might have ridden at Vojens since he was 8,but the track he rode on most of that time is next door to the GP track
-
Sure Michaels time will come. But if he wins the world U21 championship as well as the Gp at Vojens then that surely say's his time is next year.He is improving at a very good rate and i don't see that next year will be any different.I think by the time 2013 comes he will be in a position that he could be regularly making semi finals and sometimes finals. He might not win another one next year, but i think if he has that world title it will be hard to make the case for anyone else over him.Obviously we will get one though if some Brit is in
