No More Semi-final Gate Picks
iris123 replied to Ghostwalker's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Honestly......get the bloody tracks right, not muck around with this sort of thing!!!!! Let's hope Prague is sorted as we have been told for a year or two....Everything was going quite well as f-s-p say's and then they have to fiddle with the system again.Like a few ohers i found the semi draw dragged out,but figured the tv companies wanted it like that -
2013 Best Ever Gp Line Up?
iris123 replied to Gavan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You are making a silly argument now.We had this from someone a few weeks back.Nonsense.We have a set of meetings, because this is a sport that are attended by fans and watched by 1,000s of others on tv and this brings in publicity and sponsors to the sport. What you suggest does none of those things.Crazy........We have been here before.Last winter and you and the others that share your opinion came up with nothing other than what everyone agrees with. The one off world final was more often than not a tense affair.yes.But what we have now is much better than that. You don't agree, but you have no realistic counter-argument.Isn't it time to agree that time has moved on?We might as well bring back scrath races and 4 lap flying starts as speedway was brilliant back in 1928 and that was obviously the reason why -

I don't know if it is.I guess every ferderation has the chance to apply for a qualifying place. But back in the 60s and early 70s how would an American get into the world championships?Didn't Rick Woods go back to the States once he learnt he wouldn't be allowed to qualify? -
2013 Best Ever Gp Line Up?
iris123 replied to Gavan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I don't know how you can say that when some riders weren't even allowed to enter the world championship system because of their country of birth!!! -
Like i said it does say 2013 for 2014.Now that obviousy doesn't count out a meeting being held at the end of 2013.Say next December.
-
I am wondering just what they mean by a 2013 challenge meeting for the 2014 season? Are they going down the longtrack route of having a challenge meeting this season to decide the riders for next season along with the riders that qualify through their performance in this seasons GPs?????

Think with the reference to planes maybe the "Wings".All you need is sponsorship from a fast food firm and you could be the Kent "yucky fried chicken" Wings
-
Not a lot. "Did Sunderland ever stand a chance of success?Poor weather hit the promotion and the 'Saints' team was never strong enough to win quick support.Ken Sharples, once a great rider, needed time in his comeback and too much was expected from untried Australians Jim Airey and Gordon Guasco.Maury McDermott found the travelling from London too much and by the time Colin McKee joined the team it was too late. The closure was announced on June 9th and nobody was surprised.".

l Live racing from Blagoveschensk http://www.ustream.t...l/tstsd/theater Austrian Harald Simon showing the Russians the way home.Nice to have a scoreboard.Seems like an individual meeting.Presidents Cup? Great race.Pawel Tschajka just passing Simon on the line!!! Get on with it pretty promptly. Two minute warning on as the riders from the previous race leave the track. But then i guess if temps are around -20 or -30° then you want it run well even wrapped up in the thick jackets and hats/gloves the crowd have on Results from nicesport.pl and it was the Governors Cup,thought it was called Presidents Cup!!! Not going through it and changing names... 1. Harald Simon (Austria) - (3,3,2,3,3) 14 2. Daniił Gołoszejkin (Kamiensk-Uralskij) - (2,3,3,3,2) 13 3. Yes i agree,i think Conkers means the 3rd/4th bend. Can't understand why apart from desperately needing to save some euros, why anyone would watch the meeting from there, although i do remember our old Zielona Gora correspondent "Tommy" posted some photos of his view at one meeting. In the old days you used to get better views of top football matches for free.At the Old Den for instance...... ok maybe there weren't that many "top" games involving Millwall Just read today that the new Berlin airport is due to open next October!!!! Just one and a half years late and €250 million over budget
-
Been regularly for a number of years. It is one meeting that is pretty much a must for me.Ice Speedway so near and in a decent stadium in a decent city. Conkers will have to give you tips about flying and travel from the airport...which airport?Big scandal over the last months with the new Berlin airport being delayed not once but twice or more..... Shouldn't need to get tickets in advance.I would watch from the first/second bend.Think it is a great view, good atmosphere there.Stadium is an easy 10 minute walk from Hohenzollerndamm S-Bahn station. Also a nice cafe next to the station which does a nice coffee/breakfast.

I don't know.I was told when in Pardu that Dresden will be on again, but looking at the website it just has a thank you for 2012 and see you again in 2013.No info on a date.Only thing i have seen to be held in Dresden is the Speedway on Ice series.Would have thought it was easy for you to find out by asking Antti or Jouni if they have been contacted by the promoters for meetings? Saw some photos from Blago a few days ago and the new Samara team outfit looks very professional.Team colours on rider and bike along the lines of Togliatti, although brown maybe isn't the most exciting of colours

Berlin will be on the weekend 2+3 march http://www.eisspeedway-berlin.de/

2013 Best Ever Gp Line Up?
iris123 replied to Gavan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Exactly as the man said.......i don't think anyone at any time has ever said the system we have now is perfect. It has its faults. But for sure it is way way better than what we had before.Only a few Luddites won't have it and we have heard the flawed arguments against it 1,000 times by now -
2013 Best Ever Gp Line Up?
iris123 replied to Gavan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sure most would agree that Tai in normal circumstances should never have got the decision before Jepsen Jensen. But finances and maybe more importantly tv coverage have an important part to play.I am getting the feeling that tai has been put in to attract a tv deal.Either continuing with SKY or it would surely be important to have a GB rider in to attract a new company?Would myself much rather have Liglad in,but can understand, although don't agree with the decision on this basis -

League averages ain't the b all and end all in proving who is the best rider.Invariably they are not riding the same tracks on the same day against the same riders. In the GPs they are. That is the competition to find the best rider in the world and invariably unless a rider misses meetings,it does.I thank you Arguing anything else is like arguing friday should be called tuesday.... -

In all seriousness, would love to see them do it.Always been supportive of the US in our sport having witnessed the arrival of Scott Autrey and Sumner McKnight back in the 70s.Started off the golden years of American speedway(in the modern post war period anyway)and brought that special razzamatazz that only the Americans can bring.Would love to see another wave of youngsters take the sport by storm here in Europe.Good luck -

Billy? Why not try Shawn Moran,he doesn't live too far from Hungary. Now if both he and Billy were in the team i might even travel down for that -
Is that official? Just that i heard for a while that he doesn't want to ride 500cc and a close friend of his wanted one of my photos to present to him........maybe he has changed his mind?

Oh so Slangerup won't have a team again in Danmarkserien! And i thought maybe one or two of the Holsted 80cc guys would be moving up.Martin seems to have been around a long time now on 80cc.And Mark Frimodt Pedersen from Vojens?Giving up now?

Monster Energy World Speedway Invitational !
iris123 replied to TwoMinuteWarning's topic in International World of Speedway
Looks great.Hope this is a success.Don't imagine the Poles or Emil will get to grips so easy with the track.Seem to remember kennett was over a year ago and also didn't find the tiny US track too easy???? -
Maybe Peter S will post his views on the trip at some point? But sure we have to wait for the guys to get back home and let the dust settle .But if this article is to be believed then neither Jepsen Jensen or Mikkel Bech are happy, and that is now on record, and as i said this only backs up things told to me before the guys set off.If others are saying positive things that wouldn't be a big surprise.Everyone is different and has different views. The thing is though that with the top guys dropping out it puts a big financial strain on those riders not doing as well.Proof of the pudding will be next year to see who enters the competition.Expect to see Liglad concentrate on other things anyway and if Mikkel B is adamant he won't go,then i wouldn't expect to see him enter either

Thanks a bunch. So we get to see either Argentina(in 50 rides i think one of their U21 riders only took 1 single point off a foreign rider....),France(hmmm,this isn't longtrack...) or Croatia(have they got enough riders of any international standard??????).At least Germany have a chance now
