  1. Not sure how you can come out with "Early days to talk of Parken dropping out...." Haven't you noticed that in Denmark they ARE talking about it,so why can't we? We know there is some posturing going on.But if it is in the news then it is worthy of discussion....
  2. Poor sales like anything else as well as the disaster of the rain off.As it was i think either the first year or the year of the call off, just a week or two after the GP, Stock Cars of all things got about 25-30,000.It was a great stadium, but really in the wrong part of Germany. In a couple of weeks we will have two speedway meetings over the Whitsun holiday which will attract crowds of between 6-8,000.In a decent stadium in that area you could get a very good crowd for a GP.Problem is,there isn't a stadium.Well ok if you compare it to Italy then yes north Germany could at this moment in time host a decent GP..... Is it negativity or the truth? You can't really compare the two.Parken/Copenhagen are much better than Vojens. And that coming from someone who likes Vojens.A Vojens GP is easy for me to get to and i would probably go to more than i do at the moment.Far more.I mean i will weather permitting be going to Vojens on saturday morning for a meeting.I like the place, but it isn't a good town and the stadium is just slightly better than average. Not a GP standard stadium really
  3. Exactly should have darfted ina couple of the German guys and given them a new first name and bobs your uncle....yanks... Mac Smolinski and Tony Busch. You could have even got that Pascal Swart who is looking for a place.........i give you "Dutch" Swart
  4. Doesn't sound good if one of the flagship GPs/Stadiums is maybe going to be dropped and the GP moved back to the rainy City..... http://ekstrabladet.dk/sport/anden_sport/motorsport/speedway/article1968159.ece
  5. Pity the much wanted Robert Lambert couldn't be drafted in,but it seems he was injured in a clash with Smolinski and Kroner last night and missed a meeting in Denmark today for what seems to be his new club Holsted if i have read that correctly
  6. I would agree it is a bit of a let down opener.Even at full strength were the US up to much? They only got 4 points in the U21 SWC which must be a record low? That being said maybe they will get a decent repacement in for the two missing riders and everyone will see a cracking night at what should be a super new facility.I hope there are few negatives and very many positives both from the opening night and the first season of many
  7. Thought are with Emil.Super rider and has been said a very nice guy.My favourite rider along with Nicki. And also the only rider i have ever had my photo taken with.I was very chuffed at that.I know he said before the GP that it meant so much to him to know he wasn't alone at such a hard time in his life.Well there are thousands of fans around the world thinking of you at this time Emil
  8. Good point.Other countries stick the youngsters in and give them experience. Some maybe do sink, but others swin.I was talking to a team boss over here recently about their trouble finding a rider and they went through a list of riders.....none British. So i jokingly said "You could try a British rider" And the answer was "Yes,but it needs to be one that has experience of these type of tracks and there aren't many......".That is our problem. Our riders aren't gaining experience of continentasl tracks and they don't get much chance of experience of GPs as it is always the same riders......
  9. Funny i thought between 3-4,000,but was told by the man in charge it was nowhere near that figure. At least paying public was around 2,000 and then a few hundred "free cards" 2,300 was the official figure i heard him mentioning to Wolfgang for the Bahnsport Aktuell to publish
  10. Yes i remember some controversy a number of years ago with the wildcard for a Danish GP and was told by someone in Denmark....Dansk Metal sponsoring the GP and also the wildcard.....There was my answer, they were saying. Yes one thing to come out of this thread for me was the statement that the decision to use the British Final as a quali for the Cardiff GP wasn't an idea from the BSPA,but from a tv company.Doesn't that say it all that the BSPA couldn't come up with an idea to help the British Final from falling into obscurity???
  11. So by your thinking if Coventry go to the wall it won't really be a negative thing for british speedway as questions won't be asked in Parliament or the general public won't be talking about it!!!!!Actually i guess British speedway is still pretty good,we must still be ruling the world as i haven't heard any speeches in Parliament being made about it's decline,so it can't have happened.....yeah,right I do get the feeling that this is all mixed up in it somehow.Toys are being thrown around and people are getting a bit spiteful throwing their weight around...
  12. Er,i think you were going on a day or two ago about where is the Polish version of Ghostwalker.Thing is a few years ago we had a number of Polish guys who were on the spot and reported things from the terraces. They have generally disappeared as guys who aren't there seem to do all the reporting now.And that seems to have happened quite a bit over the past 3 or 4 years. Then you wonder why.......
  13. There you have it in a nutshell from someone who wasn't there. No need to add anything else!!! On to the next meeting next week which we will have to wait and see what happens there as both Wittstock and Wolfslake will host meetings at the same time.Wittstock will host Wolfslake in the Bundesliga, whilst Wolfslake have a big international pairs meeting including Greg Hancock and Jarek Hampel for example.Shame because the crowd will be split as both tracks are pretty near each other and the question is what sort of team will Wolfslake put out as they obviously want to attract the big crowd of the day......speedway!!!!
  14. Super looking line-up of juniors including our own Robert Lambert and promising young Aussie,Brady Kurtz currently spending the season based in Denmark.Looked good from the little i saw of him on saturday. Line-up zur Güstrow Junior Challenge am 17.05.: Rene Deddens Oskar Fajfer PL Hannes Gast Valentin Grobauer Michael Härtel Michell Hofmann Zdenek Holub CZ Kai Huckenbeck Rasmus Jensen DK Eduard Krcmar CZ Brady Kurtz AUS Robert Lambert GB Hendric Lindqvist S Andrzejs Lebedevs LV Danny Maassen Emil Meyer DK Andre Mochner Lukasz Przedpelski PL Pawel Przedpelski PL Erik Riss Mark Riss Ondrej Smetana CZ Anders Thomsen DK
  15. Fact is Phil is this a positive or negative move for British speedway, regardless of what other countries do?I can't see anything positive here in giving Harris a chance at a GP.All i can see is a downgrading of the british Final and a demotivation of all the British riders who thought they were in with a fair chance of a wildcard.A decision that makes a few happy and a lot angry.Typical speedway
  16. One change for Brokstedt.Matten Kröger was injured in a crash at the weekend and just got out of hospital yesterday,so will be replaced by local youngster Danny Maaßen.
  17. Good looking meeting.Kenni is much improved on last season i think.Had a good weekend and was pretty impressive at Holsted on saturday.Holsted might be weak if Hougaard doesn't find his form.At least you won't have to push start any bikes tomorrow Peter ha ha
  18. Well i watched half an hour or so of the programme.Bit tired after a day out at the speedway in Denmark and then some sightseeing with the girlfriend and a dangerous stop off at a Danish bakery!!!!Oooh i is burly now.Acting was a bit wooden and it did seem very dated especially the action scenes in the studio. Was interesting to see Egon and some of his contempories on track. There was some action of ex Berwick(i think) rider Jörg Pingel. And what is surprising after all this time.Nearly 24 years to the day,as i expect the racing was filmed around 01.05.1989(?)was that one of the riders is still active!!!!! Not on solos, but is still doing sidecar speedway.Arne Jasper. One negative aspect of the film is that i couldn't really notice any difference to the stadium from 1989 to the present......exactly the same
  19. Yes of course. But it is still a bit sad and unusual.I see Liglad has turned down his spot in the Debrecen EM round to ride for Grindsted
  20. Lucky i know what you are on about, but it is pronounced like poodle rather than puddle(sorry,no smilies working for me)!!!!
  21. First meeting next wednesday at Brokstedt, where the home team take on the new look super duper Wolfslake Falubaz Berlin.Nice looking line up with some good youngsters.Sadly no Danes, which is somewhat unusual for Brokstedt, but an old face returns in World Longtrack champ Joonas Kylmäkorpi. The meeting also sees the return of former "wonder kid" Erik Pudel...... Brokstedt Mikolaj Curylo (P) Joonas Kylmäkorpi (Fin) Vaclav Milik (CZ) Tobi Kroner Matten Kröger Wolfslake Falubaz Berlin Piotr Protasiewicz (P) Patryk Dudek (P) Kamil Adamczewski (P) Marcin Sekulla (D/P) Erik Pudel Rene Deddens
  22. Bit of an obscure one coming up on German tv saturday night.Egon Müller in a murder mystery. And no i don't think he was murdered for singing!!!!An episode of a series from 1989 where Egon appears as speedway rider "Tonio" and has a fatal crash on track.Seems his sponsor is mixed up in this somehow NDR 22:15 british time if anyone is interested
  23. What purpose John?Get 100s if not a 1000 or so people to write in,get a few lines in the book and then of course go out and buy it just to see those few lines printed and bound in book?Sounds like a great marketing idea to me tbh
  24. Ok DW,i'll take your advice.Any idea of the line-up for Hosted saturday morning?Would like to make my first trip seeing as the Holsted v German U21 meeting was cancelled
  25. I guess it doesn't look good that the event is now up and running, but we only have two venues for the final. Will we get any more venues now i wonder? And is this new look just because there are more tracks in Poland wanting a GP/SWC than can be accomodated,so we end up with a new competition to let them get in on the act with big meetings.rather like various boxing championships.......it all looks interesting as to how this will pan out
