  1. I would be worried that the track hasn't recovered enough or in good enough shape to take even a shortened practice session hours before the meeting.Surely it would be wiser to work on the track through the day to ensure a good surface and scrap practice altogether?
  2. So hard to predict. We had a thread on this subject many years ago.Think Bridger was named by many,Zabik also a future world champ. At the time i named Rene Bach who looked one of the best Danish kids.None have made it anywhere near a GP series.I would predict Jason Jorgensen, who looks a very exciting prospect
  3. Not at all John.Thought you said it was the cost and time of the travel.I know a few people here make a plea for a lift.Just thought that would be the answer to you not attending.Just trying to help, that's all as you do seem so very keen, jack lol
  4. I do think someone should give gustix a lift down to the speedway. He seems so enthusiastic that it would be a shame if he couldn't just even the once see the Kings and maybe buy a scarf or something.
  5. Seen Engman a couple of times.Vojens 80cc YGT,2010 + last year in Holsted for the Euro semi.Quite impressed without thinking he will be a top star
  6. There are a couple of tracks much nearer.....40km away.Kronjylland Speedway near Randers(Randers Lions finished 3rd in the 1.division last year. They have a meeting on the 22.06 of some sort.Individual.And Silkeborg also have a track. That is also about 40km away. And a bit further in the same direction is Herning speedway. They are holding a div.1 meeting on the 15.06.....there are a lot of speedway tracks in Denmark lol
  7. But was you one who was backing the decision? I don't remember you posting in support of him.Think that was the point. If you didn't come out on either side then it hardly counts to come on here now and start slagging people off.I hold my hand up and say i thought the decision was wrong.Still do.Think Jepsen jensen deserved in more. But Tai has taken the opportunity superbly and surpassed even most of his supporters predictions. So no-one got it right in that sense
  8. Wonderfully intertesting site.Just found out that the footpath i used to take to Plough Lane (Meads Path) was the route of the Surrey Iron Railway, which is a real piece of Industrial history. Some nice photos of New Merton Board Mills and the Bus garage which are parts of my family history as well.Nice!!
  9. Ha ha.Not sure if i would or not.But pretty sure one of your pals Kenny Lane,Jack Keen, speedyguy etc would lol
  10. Speedway has changed since you were editor of the speedway star.Even the speedway star has changed since then. The world has changed. Not always for the better, but we have to come to terms with it and accept the fact
  11. Far too few i would guess.People expect the finished product without supporting the riders on their way to the top.Pretty much the same in every country though.Even in Denmark where it is free to get in and the racing on the small 80cc tracks can be as good as 500cc Zak Wajknecht defends his FIM title in Czecho next week.Wish him all the best
  12. Not many in the stadium.Maybe the clash with the Czech Beer festival just started was a wrong un?Beer festival has a 10,000 capacity,so i'd guess there is more packed in there than in Marketa
  13. Result from yesterdays meeting run in the old GP knock out system, although some riders didn't turn up so heat 1 was cancelled and some heats only had 3 riders at the start.Deddens is describing it as his best ever meeting and also a great result for Härtel1,100 there which is pretty good for a junior meeting.Just hope the weather doesn't hit the meetings tonight and tomorrow where crowds of between 6-8,000 are normal 1. Rasmus Jensen DK 2. René Deddens 3. Michael Härtel 4. Pawel Przedpelski PL 5. Vitaly Belusov RU 6. Erik Riss 7. Brady Kurtz AU 8. Valentin Grobauer 9. Michell Hofmann 9. Robert Lambert GB 11. Danny Maaßen 11. Lukasz Przedpelski PL 13. Mark Riss 13. Hendric Lindqvist SE 15. Andre Majewski 15. Steven Mauer 17. Maik Hofmann 17. Anders Thomsen DK 19. Hannes Gast 19. Jan-Lukas Dittner
  14. Thanks for that.I was specifically after speedway 125cc not short track. On the marketa site i did see it listed, though no start time. But on one of the main general Czech sites there were rounds listed such as Divisov on the 26.05,but nothing about Praha....... I was thinking from an organisational point of view it made sense as the Youth Gold Trophy is on the saturday in Pardubice and a meeting on the wednesday before would give the Czech kids a good warm up Checked last night and got it wrong way round.Club sites such as Slany and Plzen list the meeting, but importantly Prague don't!!!! Oh well think i will have to give it a miss
  15. Whilst you're asking Phil, can you ask someone connected with Marketa if they are staging a round of the Czech 125cc championship next wednesday, pleeeease?
  16. Yes,but you were one of those that stated newcomers wouldn't understand the dropping of David Mason,so you would attract some likes for that sort of post. I put to you two situations.A rider gets dropped from a team that has just lost two home meetings.Or a rider gets injured whilst guesting for an opposing team. Now which would more likely be bewildering to newcomers? Like i said before newcomers are going to be just getting into the rules and more getting into the racing. If they are going to be put off by someone getting dropped after a couple of losses, then speedway will probably be far too frustrating for them anyway. Look forward to some positive posts from you in the future then.Speedway in the south east certainly needs a success story.Hope the Kent Kings is that story myself
  17. You seem all so desperate for Kent to fail John.Is Kent the new Spain i wonder? And why are you so negative? Are you going to be a regular? Will you pop down once or twice or just snipe from your computer?
  18. Ok,super.Hope the crowds flock in as i am sure it will be a spectacular show having seen this sort of thing in Germany. The only problem with the one i went to was the speedway was overshadowed by the exciting jumps. But that was down to a poor concrete track i am sure the leicester track will be much better!!
  19. Let's be honest newcomers won't know how the sport works so why would they be dumbfounded? For all they know this happens all the time....i doubt after two meetings that many newcomers have suddenly got emotionally attached to any of the riders.Doesn't sound good, might have been an action taken too quick, but i guess they thought something had to be done. Some seem to be over-reacting in how newbies will see this though And if they are dumbfounded now then it will keep them in good stead for the future.I remember when i first started going on my own and taking notice of riders....there was a guy called Jim Tebby who wasn't in the team but we were told would be trying to get in by riding second halves....whoops a week or two later he was riding for Newport! Were we dumbfounded? Few years later we were told our number 1 would be Christer Lofqvist. He was even in the programme as our number one for a few weeks, but never turned up!Not sure how dumbfounded we all were at the time.....
  20. Yes.Not that we might see a series of freestyle/speedway meetings around the country like?
  21. Seeing as "Phil" liked the post i guess it is just you.It is partly a speedway meeting and surely this is the place speedway meetings get mentioned/advertised.Have a look at all the threads stating there is a speedway meeting coming up in the next few days......just hope this has got the speedway authorities go ahead?????
  22. Well we could ask what did all those appearances in the GPs over the past couple of years do for Harris.maybe he is the one who should have been looking and learning? That in a sense is the problem with the system or our system. We didn't honestly have a GP standard rider so Chris was the one who was always being thrown to the lions. He probably wanted it and thought he could make it,but it became clear to most it was doing him more harm than good.Same really with Scott before him.Rather than taking some time out they got punch drunk All done now anyway......but if Darcy is out for too long poor old Dryml ends up in the nightmare situation he was warning about before the season started with fixture clashes.......
  23. As it is they are all very much a muchness.Doubt anyone could say with conviction that one rider would do better than another out of the top 4 or 5 Brits. But i can't see Harris bringing in any more fans than any of the others. What does make me think on this situation is why this was done.Tend to think a number of things are all linked together and this was done to get at some people.Wouldn't at all be surprised if say Eursport get the contract to show British league speedway and want the British Final to be linked to the British wildcard, then quick as a flash, next year it will be all change again. And as for attendances,i think you will have to look over a period of 3 or 5 years to see how this decision has affected the final. It all seemed to leak out quite late
  24. Maybe due to the GP and travel he couldn't make it?
  25. Peter S is a source for news out of Slangerup. But he was probably in discussions with Lars Munkedal....
