  1. You asked the question, not One Sport.I guess they know what they are paying. You asked!!! Anyone that has followed the various discussions on this forum would have noticed that the imbalance in fees paid is a subject often bought up by Phil Rising, who is quite close to BSI
  2. Think a lot is just making a mountain out of a molehill. We had it before years ago.The Internationale was as good as if not often a better line-up as the world final. There is nothing basically in speedway stopping one or two promoters getting together and starting a one off big money meeting or a series. It isn't going to be called the world final because it isn't.It happened before in speedway that we had more than one world title and it happens in other sports, but this isn't a world title. And with at least a couple of Australian riders looking like featuring in the top echelons of the sport this title won't,like i said feature all the best riders.
  3. But can anything compete with the world title? It shouldn't be possible. For a start it is conceivable that the SEC might not have, say the top three riders in the world. That is a big drop in standard for a start, as there are really so few top class riders. The FIM have also made the world U21 title into a series.I don't see why another competition can't go the same way. There is no getting away from the fact it is a lower level series.Just they seem to have got some things right, like European wide free tv coverage. At least it is free to my house,so that is a big,big plus
  4. But it is a nothing title as a number here have stated. So the same money for a nothing title is good for the riders surely. And why would the FIM ask or expect the same for a nothing title as for the world title?Seems strange to even bring up the subject
  5. In all fairness i quite agree and have stated some of the things that have been put in this post. A lot of opponents on here keep saying the title of SEC is nothing,i have been to a number of Euro Championship meetings before One Sport took over.....low key affairs. Now they have changed all of that imo and the opinion of a lot of others. So why should they pay the same or similar as BSI when the title is meaningless? They should only pay the going rate for a second level title. The fact that they have turned things around shouldn't be held against them
  6. I'd guess you have to win a GP to make much out of one.But even a day or so Ecclestone was in the paper answering a question about a lot of the F1 teams complaining that they aren't making money. He was saying they should cut back on the luxury mobile homes and all the trappings etc rather than going for slower more fuel efficient cars.He wants speed and noise. You then look at what some of the speedway riders have. The amount of bikes and equipment and then probably a couple of mechanics. That all comes out of the cost,so a rider who struggles in the GPs must be making quite a loss even with 12,000 up front
  7. I wonder how much they promote speedway to the outside world.I have to admit i was in Prague a week after the SWC and saw a few posters around the city.On the other hand i have not seen anything around the Vojens area apart from in the main streets. Also the new IMG European Rallycross meeting held in a nearby town was imo very poorly promoted.By luck i was in the area a week before the meeting and although i saw quite a number of posters(20 or more along the main streets in most towns and villages in the general area) advertising a medieval festival i only saw one poster when we stopped at a petrol station. There was only a tiny write up before in the paper and i saw nothing of the results afterwards and they are a giant in the field we are told.Quite disappointed as i was thinking of going, but only saw the stuff too late to make arrangements
  8. Quite agree Humph. At the moment the Hamburg side, who are ever present in the Bundesliga(i think the only team)are on the verge of getting relegated for the first time. They have just yesterday lost one of their main players, who was in the german squad for the first time, because he was injured in squad training!!!It really could cost them millions if they get relegated, partly through missing thier top scorer in the vital run-in
  9. I think it has been documented that Emil has problems with the MFR in the past and he is not the only Russian rider. So that might explain any possible failure to ride for Russia.
  10. No.When crops are ready to harvest there is a limited time to do it or they will go bad and prices rocket sky high.It is essential t ehey are harvested as quickly as possible. It is similar with road works. It is generally essential that they are done through the night so as to cause as little disruption as possible.Near me on the motorway they are normally done from 22:00 until 05:00 otherwise there would be chaos and again it would cost millions in delays to industry etc. Some things can't be compared to a fairly unimportant sports stadium. You have picked one of those in food production
  11. Some things are essential for our existence, some things are not...........do you see where i am going with this?Do you not understand the difference?
  12. I am not one who puts the blame on BSI.For me the problems lie soley with the FIM and since Castagna has taken over we have gone from bad to worse......
  13. Football has always allowed some swapping up to a certain age or level i think. But at around U21 level you have to choose and are stuck with your choice.Had some tugs of war in Germany in the past year or so.One quite recently with a young Turkish/German player, who ended up choosing Turkey.I think that is quite reasonable if you qualify to play for a couple of countries to wait until you are no longer classed as a youth. In the case of Kylmäkorpi he gets the best of both worlds. His Swedish licence help him in the Swedish leagues and his fyling the Finnish flag helps him with a home Longtrack GP and now most probably the wc in the Finnish speedway GP.Obviously if he is after a SWC medal then he would need to ride for Sweden. But it would be crazy if he could choose to ride for Sweden one year and then Finland the next and maybe swap back again.....
  14. I thought there was no threat to withdraw,it was some rubbish from his manager?Anyway the Finnish GP is almost a home GP or so we were told.......another sad day for the sport
  15. Yes,but that doesn't alter what i was pointing out. That Joonas wasn't classed as Swedish just because he held a Swedish licence although he could ride as a Swede because of his citizenship. He has been riding as a Finn with or without a Finnish licence. Do wonder though, how often he could swap back and forth as i think he was listed in the preliminary Swedish SWC squad.Think at least in this respect football seem to have got it right and won't allow swapping around
  16. Indeed.Whatever is agreed,it is always good to use common sense. We all know the times are changing and more and more not just noise but light 'pollution' is coming under attack.Nowadays even if there isn't any noise, just having floodlights on during the night can cause complaints from environmentalists/star gazers/wildlife protesters etc.Why risk antagonising people when i would have thought an alternative would be easy to find
  17. Been before and it is great....well let's say,Teterow is different. It is part festival, part race meeting. In the old communist times it was a real big festival where the youngsters could let their hair down and get drunk etc and it has stayed that way after the fall of the Berlin wall only on a smaller scale now. There is just as much action going on at the camping site next to the track and i found it strange to see crowds walking in and out all throughout the grass track meeting.A fun weekend. The few times i have been to the speedway stadium it was slick and boring, but i have been told a number of times over the past few years that it has improved. Güstrow is the speedway town.Spent more time there. The stadium is good or Germany and the track is one of the best i have seen. The town is also worth a look around.A nice castle and old town that has been renovated quite a bit from the first time i was there and quite a few pubs.As it is more of a tourist town than Teterow,i think they have more hotels etc A number within walking distance of the track Trains run between the two towns and i have on a number of occasions walked from Güstrow station to the track.Takes 30 or so minutes.Never tried to walk from Teterow station. For the weekend i think they(used to)have shuttle buses running.Taxis in Güstrow should be ok,and i guess they should have some in teterow as well for such a big weekend.I only know i went once on a saturday afternoon for a German U21 final expecting to find a taxi waiting at the station!!!!No chance. There was at the time, only 2 taxis in the town and i had to hunt around for one.Found the guy having a coffee in one of the bakeries or caffs........and got him to pick me up after the meeting.
  18. Think it has already been explained that it isn't the licence that determines the nationality.Kylmäkorpi i am sure rode with a Swedish licence last year but is still Finnish and although i haven't seen any pics from his Longtrack win i would bet he had a Finnish flag.At least he told me himself he would ride with a Swedish licence, but still under the Finnish flag......there are plenty more examples.Laguta for instance. Not a fan of Schlein and wouldn't want him taking a place from a British rider even if they weren't as good
  19. Can't be that posh if a prime site is sold off for a million quid.
  20. By the time it is finished Scotland will also need a National Speedway Stadium,as they will be independant
  21. Would make it even harder to enforce if you let riders in other FIM disciplines ride in GPs and European Championships......
  22. Wonder what can be made of the fact Pletschacher competed in the Ice Speedway Euro Champs whilst also competing in the Ice Speedway GP's?Was it allowed because the Ice Speedway season was already underway when the ruling was made?Has the ruling not been made? Can they say he was the wildcard for this meeting?
  23. But aren't the Curling World Championships being held in a couple of weeks time? Will we get even more hype just before the speedway season starts? And does it show that speedways current problem with SGP/SEC can work if they have Euro Champs-Olympics and World Champs all in the one season?
  24. Seems Eurosport will be showing it,so is it now being run by One Sport? And Poole seem to be the British team according to the Esbjerg site.Rospigarna the Swedish representatives.Esbjerg hope NKI,Mikkel Bech, rene Bach and Artem Laguta will be in their team
  25. Blimey that is a bit quick.Talk about contracts.Didn't they have any contracts further than this saturday????? Come again.....
