Was it around the end of the 60s that the japanese changed from dirt tracks to concrete/tarmac?Sure i read somewhere that they thought the dirt tracks were too dangerous.maybe a fatality...... Anyway this thread is really turning into something for the years gone by section ,when speedway even gets a mention!!!

The way i understand it is he only has dual citizenship, not licences. He only has one of those per season, surely?

Wittstock V Polish Select,29.03.2014
iris123 replied to iris123's topic in International World of Speedway
That is who i thought it was,but not having followed Polish speedway so closely over the past year or two wasn't 100% sure -
Quite an interesting line-up without being outstanding. But looks quite even and could potentially be a real good meeting. If the weather is ok i could be tempted to travel over for this one Team Wölfe Wittstock: Christian Hefenbrock Mathias Schultz Kai Huckenbeck Steven Mauer Marcin Sekula Zdenek Holub Matthias Kröger Roberto Haupt Team Polen Mariusz Staszewski Rafal Fleger Stanislaw Burza Patryk Dziatkowiak Mariusz Firley Lukasz Kret Tomasz Rempala Got a feeling Firley is spelt wrong on the Wittstock site

Think this is the situation i explained on the other thread about nationalities.Joonas gets the best of both worlds as i predicted. He gets the benefit of a Swedish licence in Sweden and also gets a wildcard for having Finnish nationality

Finally got round to finding the MotoX meet.It is on the Bank Holiday monday in Tessin,nr Rostock.About 35 minutes away from Güstrow. So you could have 4 days of bike racing in a very small area of Germany. And it is also a very beautiful part of the country with plenty of lakes around and Rostock is well worth a trip too -
'speedway Riders - History, Results'
iris123 replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in Years Gone By
Well some months have now gone since the poster was so offended,an offer was given and i have looked. It seems the offending riders stats haven't been updated,so i guess no other rider has CL/NL stats added. What went wrong?Did June01 recieve the relevant info but so far has not had the time to update the site? Did Parsloes and his sidekick not compile and send off any riders CL/NL details? I know gustix has had a bit of time on hands over the winter.I have recieved a number of emails telling me of his plans to restart a new rival speedway forum and that despite him telling us how speedway forums are being threatened by his new found love,Facebook!!!! What is the story behind the story? The new season is upon us and the stats will only grow if they haven't been started already.....We need to know -
Grachan is the expert on the sport in Japan. He has been there and seen it for himself. But i thought it was on concrete. Not sure. But i do remember as a youngster seeing some film of it at possibly the MCN stand at a London Motorbike show in Earl's Court.I seem to recall the riders came out on the back of a truck which drove them out on this massive track to their bikes. Was all very theatrical.I think this was preceeded by dirt tracks at some point though. Was also,i think the first time i saw Ice Speedway on screen

Looks good to me.Think it was about 1970 or so

There has been ice speedway in China and the Chinese had a delegation at one of the recent Ice Speedway GPs and are in talks about hosting a future Ice Speedway GP A Japanese speedway rider did ride at Wimbledon in the Internationale, but gustix will fill you in on that as i imagine he was there

Just read that even sports clubs are having trouble with noise. One in Hamburg has restrictions on how often it can be used despite a €300,000 6 metre high sound barrier built around it!!!!The boss was saying how absurd it all was when it is trying to attract kids off the street and involve them in sport, yet the kids can't play.......then again we had a case of complaint about a new nursery built in a residential area!!!! Where do they expect nurseries to be built? In the middle of an industrial estate?

Bit of a dodgy weekend in Berlin. Only 1,500 on saturday and i'd say even less today.Poor weather and the loss of Bauer + Zorn probably played a part.Ticket prices i guess also in the equation Antti it seems has broken a few ribs and his season is finished Main plus point for me was the fighting display in the German Final and also today from Hans Weber

Bulgaria and Ukraine also have some speedway.Once a year a couple of Bulgarian riders seem to pop up in an open meeting at a track in the far east of Germany,so i guess they must have a small scene in Bulgaria.Ukraine seem to be a bit in the wars at the mo even on the speedway track. If i am right the speedway scene is in a bit of chaos and two of their best riders who are originally Russian are now changing back to being Russian. There has also been for years trouble behind the scenes, but think a few years ago they did even have a small league of about 3 or 4 teams

Not sure you would really find the British promoters working together with a plan. They are all basically out for themselves and are willing to knife another in the back,so they ain't going to co-operate with foreign promoters. This always makes me laugh when Humphrey trots out how European promoters should have formed a collective to run the world championship themselves. But the more things come out the more it seems to me that it is the same attitude in other countries.Look after no.1 and to hell with the rest

Eurosport Take Swedish League
iris123 replied to remembertheracers's topic in International World of Speedway
Yes indeed.A great deal......the same coverage as the SEC gets Tbh,the Ice Speedway was pretty boring even for an enthusiast like me.By the end of a lot of heats the riders were so strung out i often thought maybe there was only the one finisher......until the next rider came into view. And even here in Germany the German guy,who is the same guy who does the speedway got a fair bit of criticism(going into detail about which village in the back of nowhere most riders came from and what they do for a day job etc..),so it isn't just GB coverage -
But no need to counter with some propaganda from the other side!!! Cardiff isn't our national stadium and i thought parken was being used this year because of the DMU jubilee otherwise it would have been dropped? It is good news though with Warsaw. No need to go ott and no real need to take much notice of a poll on sportowefakty. The Poles are moaners just like a lot of speedway fans. They were talking about a boycott when the new silencers came in......and even if just 45% of Polish fans turn up then the stadium will be full i'd guess

Actually i know of someone who was seeking and was successful with getting (i think )two sponsors in Russia for Emil.I have no idea of how big the sponsors were and i din't ask as the conversation was more about doing thankless work for riders. As it happens the person was a day or so after telling me this, thanked by Emil...... That doesn't really change anything though as i am sure people often try and help out with sponsorship. -

Unless someone starts an internet campaign to raise money for him. There was one this winter for Kevin Wölbert,as it seemed he was about to give up speedway because he was skint, and i read earlier there is one for a Dutch Ice Speedway rider,so why not for Emil? -
Only managed to catch sundays meeting on Eurosport.Unfortunately imo it was a pretty poor meeting. Most heats were sorted after about 50m and by the last lap they were strung out!!! Only got interesting in the last few heats when the Russians were up against each other, apart from a tussle between Svensson + Aakko.Hope the saturday meeting was a lot better

You were talking about One Sports media mouthpiece,i was talking about one of BSI's.It makes it hard if the discussion has been going on for over a year and someone comes in after about 10 months.I am not going to seek out all the stuff from months ago.I expect people to search that out for themselves. But of course Phil can come here and tell you he has mentioned it on a number of occasions to make it all easier As it is i am not for or against either competition or company.I think they have both made improvements to the sport and bring something to the table both for fans and riders, although One Sport are just starting out.It is noticeable that one or two sponsors that have dealt with BSI are somewhat critical.Meridian Lifts and now Nice.Quite possibly given time sponsors etc will come out and be critical of One Sport. -

You just have to do a search of Phil Risings posts.I certainly ain't going to.And i doubt Phil will deny mentioning the fact on more than a couple of ocassions -

Well i guess they are only following suit as BSI have been doing the subject to death for months through their mouthpiece
