Fim Bans Participation In European Championships
iris123 replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
Does it change anything for Longtrack?Wasn't this in place last year when Dryml complained that he wasn't allowed to compete in LT + European Championships......At least his complaint was that the GPs had to take priority. And it has been out that Smolinski wasn't going to be in/allowed in the Longtrack GPs.Katt was in the press last week saying how sad it was for the sport and for Germany.... -
Fim Bans Participation In European Championships

We get propaganda from both sides. You have got an FIM pass,so will you be unbiased on this? It is a power struggle and will carry on for a while. It is only the sport that suffers.....same as the local Hamburg football team is suffering at the moment with a power struggle going on.Couple of Dutch guys involved in that as well -

Thought you made a big song and dance about how you was putting me on 'ignore'? Do yourself a favour and keep your word Thought you had also previously made a similar suggestion that teams could call themselves something else to attract other fans.Ok i was a bit tongue in cheek, but Long Eaton was a possible ok choice.Don't really care for your opinion on me Parsloes. This isn't a place for personal attacks.Just to üut the record straight though i certainly don't hold the third tier in contempt.Just usual rubbish from you.I go to my fair share of junior meetings including the world 80cc finals last season -

It'll be great if they call themselves Long Eaton or Wembley or something, then they can produce badges and stuff and everyone can say they have seen Wembley or High Beech or whatever......... -
Seems like it.Lonesome George turned up on a thread he hasn't been on before because someone he is infatuated with has posted As for 'gustix'....suddenly become active on a FB group i have been quite a while active in.Thought he was previously on here asking about things on FB,because he wasn't a member and didn't want to join having previously gotten into trouble there.......
-
Doubt it.Seems he has been around and is now active on the hated Facebook. So it all points to sitting out a ban on here or he has nothing to say.I'd go for the former

Who Was The Most Frustrating Rider?
iris123 replied to Ommer Mon's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I'd say Charlie Gjedde when i saw him in Germany.Often great to watch and won a fair number of exciting races, but all too often suffered an e.f usually when out in front and cost the team Pletschacher on Ice Speedway.Lightening out of the gate and then drops back......... -

Which Rider Have You Never Taken To?
iris123 replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Not me.As already stated i didn't take to a number of riders who rode for my team.Might be though that for me at least they were associated with other teams by the time they rode for the Dons. But just because they signed for my team didn't make me "take to them" anymore than i had before...... -
Which Rider Have You Never Taken To?
iris123 replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Well a couple of those riders were in my list. But if you are including me in your attack you are wrong, because i never did and don't know dislike them.I just,as it states in the title "never took to them" .So in essence it isn't an unpleasant thread at all, just some people have got the wrong end of the stick and gone off on a tangent -
Pre-season International Speedway Cup

Not sure at 15 he is old enough to race everywhere else. And can't see how a meeting in GB can be run under any other authority other than ACU/BSPA -

Great website with a superb history section by Christian Weber But what is the "Legends of the past" meeting? I looked at the results for 2012 expecting to see some old names and they all seem to be current riders!!!! Or are the old guys guests who do demo races maybe?

Think you take things far too seriously on here. But i am just answering the answer to my question about US speedway. And in all honestly i am not even sure about all this marketing of merchandise. When i see US sports merchandise it is team stuff like LA Lakers or Dallas Cowboys,no numbers and the stuff about Michael Jordan!!!! Well he was a superstar and he is the only one anyone can quote and i have never even noticed if there was a number attached to Air Jordan trainers or anything else.In fact i haven't seen much merchandise connected to him other than trainers!!! It is team gear or "Wu Wear" that i see on the streets. So maybe it might be better getting Poole Pirates gear out on the street etc Seems like one or two are going way over the top on this numbers lark, but it makes for funny reading.......In Britain at least i think speedway fans are fish in another kettle to most other sports fans and in Denmark for instance they buy the merchandise for the rider they like without a number and adding a number won't make them buy more which is what this was supposed to be all about.Seems now it is just about making things look more professional and well i just guess those sports that don't have numbers are unprofessional.Golf + Tennis players for instance earn extremely good money and i have never noticed them having numbers? -

That is what i thought funny earlier. You can't compare GP speedway to US speedway, but you can compare GP speedway to Moto GP or Nascar or US Basketball etc Yeah right.,get ready for the big time boys -

This is the thing though, your argument doesn't really stand up.You say you were wary of buying something because next season it might be out of date. Then ignore the fact that Tai's stuff will be out of date if he doesn't win.The fact that someone else might win and his stuff from this season will be out of date as next year he is also #1 and a few others will be out of the GPs.It isn't like basketball or roadracing etc where the same guys are in a team for years. And of course if US speedway is like NL or PL what do you think speedway GPs are like compared to Superbikes,F1 or football?Speedway is a different kettle of fish.A different market altogether.Football fans seem to buy the latest stuff. When a top changes the majority of fans are wearing the latest top,not the old one. With speedway fans you get a fair number who wear with pride some old gear from a decade or more ago. It isn't 'moaning' as someone puts it.There is a discussion going on and so far it seems a lot haven't been convinced this is anything positive even if it is here to stay. And i am not saying it is a negative either,so no moan.I just don't think it is going to make any difference to the money in most riders pockets if any rider...........we shall have to wait and see,but i don't expect to walk down the street in 2 years time and see speedway merchandise alongside Wayne Rooney or Valentino Rossi gear in the high street shops. -
Speedway Champions League ?

So anyone going to cardiff will have to be careful of buying any of Tai's stuff unless he is miles out in front and sure of winning the title again or his stuff will be out of date next year. And then if next year he chooses #75,who is going to buy any of his merchandise at Cardiff in 2015 if it looks like he might finish top...... Actually the general idea of merchandise is that it will be out of date quickly so you buy the next lot.The idea of buying some merchandise that lasts years isn't that good, although it does sort of fit the speedway image as you still see people in their Bradford or Cradley jacket at meetings. That is the big deal normally with football tops. The big outcry by parents that they have bought young Jimmy a top for Xmas that a few months later is out of date and they have to buy a new one. That is how football clubs make their money from merchandise and well football is fairly good at the game And i am wondering just how many US speedway riders make a mint out of their numbered merchandise? -
Personally i am not convinced this is in the right place if it is going to be a thread about sprint cars and who has or will try to make a bit of a career out of such sport

For sure. But someone who mis-uses the forum constantly has no right to be on it. He made a right pest over topics going "off topic" then a few days later say's "I'm just going to go off topic here...." He has admitted he had a number of user names(which is against the rules by the way)that would hold a conversation with opposing views to help 'stimulate' the topic.Or in my opinion he would obviously say things he didn't believe to get a reaction.Imo it isn't right to constantly make a pest of yourself with the mods.
-
Someone doesn't seem to understand the difference between moderating a forum with maybe 5 posts a day if they are lucky and a forum with 500 or more.....Easy answer is to give him your mobile number so he can call the hotline Imo the mods should have banned him for all those user names he had anyway.Sorted!!!!
