  1. Don't see why he wouldn't be allowed to do both.Didn't a couple of youngsters who are living in Germany(The Spiller brothers)compete in the British youth championships and also the german youth championships last season? He has competed in the German U21 championships before and finished 2nd or 3rd in the final and it was ok.It is only a qualifier for the year afters world championships if you fit the requirements.Which i don't think Robert does seeing as the Germans didn't want their coach/manager working too closely with him
  2. It is a matter of opinion. There are no hard and fast rules or we would have the same rules year in year out.The opinion changes often and so do most rules. As for the nonsense in the middle bit of your post........the Star article actually states that the Aussie Rule is DIFFERENT TO THE BSPA RULE!!!!! So the Aussies have a different opinion on how old you can be and the germans have another opinion. On the last bit of your post i do quite agree and think it the best route to take it easy rather than go straight into the EL,but i am not making that decision. Those that have will have to live with it if it turns out to be the wrong one
  3. I agree and hope that Robert does go this route and rides in the British championships and represents Britain on the international scene
  4. You don't often see those words associated with speedway seeing as they change them or ignore them at the drop of a hat.All a matter of opinion. You have yours and it seems the Lamberts have a differing one.Someone has to convince them that theirs is wrong it seems If we had a youth system that had produced much talent we could say this works, but we don't.We have a world champ that is the product of the Aussie youth system and was a talented rider before he came to our shores. That is about the sum of our international talent. How many other riders do we have that have qualified for the Gps through riding ability?Guess at the moment the Germans have more
  5. That is one of the things at the heart of this problem.Speedway so often has exceptions due to special circumstances. If i remember right this is what the lambert family thought could have happened but was blocked by someone........
  6. A driving licence and breaking the law is a bit different.Even at the age the BSPA say Robert can race a 500cc he can't get a licence to ride a 500cc on the roads can he? I guess they thought speedway rules are so often bent and ignored they had a good case for them as well.Looking at the videos or Robert beating Smolinski a couple of years back and a few others including Zabik it does seem he was ready and able to handle a 500 As for being picked on and victimised, well some on here seem to be calling for such treatment. It is not something that is going to help the situation.
  7. Now you are just going off on one.Obviously someone who has been stealing anything is breaking the law of the land and should be punished
  8. Of course there is.Most kids are not ready to do things at a certain age and a special few are.No matter what we are talking about.Ales Dryml snr who was a decent rider himself obviously thought his kids were ready and it seems he was probably right. There is also a very talented young rider from Russia who has been riding in germany the past couple of years as his parents obviously feel he needs the challenge and is ready..... What is ridiculous is to say all youngsters mature or are ready at the same age
  9. Slightly strange comments about the wildcard imo.Seems Timo Lahti feels hard done by not getting the decison "because of commercial reasons" Well as a speedway rider surely he should realise these things are run commercially.Without looking at the commercial side and trying to get that right there wouldn't be a GP in Finland or anywhere else unless you have money to burn like Mr Buckley has/had.On the other hand i wonder if he honestly thinks he is as good a rider as Joonas? For me Kylmäkorpi is an easy choice. The best rider and also happens to be a current FIM track world champion.Makes for better marketing in the press etc.Speedway riders are sometimes in a world of their own and have people around that will tell them they are right........
  10. To me the Star has set him up for a fall here with their criticism.I wonder if they have done one or two pieces criticizing Horton or Ford etc recently?Did the Star do a big article taking Darcy Ward to task or one highlighting Lindbäcks alcohol problems a few years back?Things far worse than what a youngster has to say to someone looking for a story.I do also think he shouldn't come out with some of the things he seems to have said,but.........more often than not youngsters are treated on ability in many things especially at school. You'll get the more intelligent children pushed on.You will hear of youngsters taking exams a year or two before other kids of their age.You will also find some talented youngsters in the Olypics competing against people far older. It is ok to point out Dilger and Busch as Germans who have started out on a 500cc at 14 and not achieved much, but on the other hand both Dryml brothers also came to Germany to get round rules in their country and one or two here will tell you just how good one of the brothers was before an unfortunate accident. Two sides to every story and it is not one size fits all. Some youngsters are just far better at an early age.His parents thought it more suitable to his ability to be riding against better riders than he would have done in the British youth championships.I'd guess Camo Heeps and Brady Kurtz's parents thought it an advantage for their children to ride a season on 500's in Denmark before they could do a season in GB I have met the family and talked to them and must say i found them very pleasant without any big heads at all,but they did feel a sense of grievance towards the British authorities and funnily enough were a bit upset at the time by an article in the Star about Robert and that was well over a year ago.So it seems nothing has been done to build bridges. Quite a shame to see so many adults on here taking exception to something someone so young has said and seemingly out to 'teach him a lesson'.I'd say the sport has bigger problems than this
  11. Think the rule is a British passport holder gets a lower average and can ride in the NL.Don't know of a rule that say's if you don't toe the line then you won't be allowed the privileges your nationality allows.
  12. Don't see how you can compare Tai with Michael Lee!!! At the stage Lee won his title, which is the stage Tai is at,Lee hadn't tipped his career down a drain......
  13. Think as someone connected to a 'rival' you are always going to be questioned when commenting on another rider. To be fair France has no real speedway tradition or competition so to progress it was wise to move. But you should also know it isn't an easy route for parents to travel the distances the Lamberts do to give their son the competition they think is best for him.All those miles and staying in a camper or hotel takes its toll. Not easy at all i would say
  14. Don't quite agree with all of this. The easier route would have been to let him ride in GB against other 14 or 15 year olds. They chose to go the route where Robert was riding against the likes of current GP rider Smolinski or other international riders. And he didn't sink, but swam quite well. And if he goes into the world championships through GB or Germany makes no real difference. It is obvious GB would pick him.And either way he has to beat people to progress. If he doesn't,it makes no difference who he is representing
  15. Another side to this is the German team manager was given an ultimatum.Stop assisting Lambert or stand down from the german job.He stood down last week. The German authorities thought it wasn't fitting for the German manager to be helping out a "foreign" rider. It seems the connection between the two will continue. So expect to see Lambert carry on in Germany. He is very thankful for the support he has received here.Push him too far and i wouldn't be surprised to see him jump.Sure he could get rides in various countries and doesn't really need GB meetings Not sure about the "ain't going to see much international action riding for Germany" statement
  16. You don't need to be a journalist at all to evaluate or seek further reference and understand those comments.Obviously have far too much time on your hands now the planned forum has failed and no-one much apart from yourself bothers commenting on your other proboard things.
  17. Stop trolling, trying to make problems where there aren't any. Those comments were made over 7 years ago and haven't caused any trouble so far and i don't think will.in the future because most people have a sense of humour and know they were not in anyway meant to be nasty.Comments from you get criticised because they deserve it more often than not..........
  18. Think Bast + Penhall had a few laps after a meeting once. Before they appeared in one of those old world championship qualifying rounds.Might have been an Intercontinental final at White City a few days after the Wimbledon meeting.
  19. Looks like the initial title really means...."Discuss anything about speedway" As we are also on "Will there ever be a more loyal rider than Steve Lawson?",off the top of my head i'd name Bjarne Pedersen at Holstebro + Nicki Pedersen at Holsted who must be hot on or have passed Lawsons "record" and still going.....
  20. No.I can see Matthias Kröger, who has ridden for Brokstedt from 1984 until the present day has a few years to do to catch up with Stevie
  21. In the end it didn't matter if it was Firley or Fierlej,as he didn't ride!!! Was a very enjoyable meeting.Like i thought, very evenly balanced with a few great heats and a wonderful 6 man final after the meeting on this very wide track.5-1 in the last heat clinched the meeting for the home sideThe crowd seemed sparse to me,but at the end they announced it was a record crowd. Not sure if that is just for the new promotion or all time record.I guess the former Team Wölfe Wittstock 63: 1. Christian Hefenbrock (3,2,2,3,2) 12 2. Kai Huckenbeck (3,3,3,3,3) 15 3. Marcin Sekulla (0,2min,0,R,1) 1 4. Steven Mauer (0,0,1,1,3) 5 5. Zdenek Holub (3,3,1,1,3) 11 6. Matthias Kröger (3,1,1,0,1) 6 7. Roberto Haupt (0,1,1,3,0) 5 8. Tobias Kroner (1,3,2,2,0) 8 Team Polen 57: 9. Mariusz Staszewski (2,3,3,2,1) 11 10. Stanislaw Burza (1,2,3,2,1) 9 11. Rafal Fleger (2,R,0,2,2) 6 12. Tomasz Rempala (2,2,3,1,2) 10 13. Andriy Kobrin (1,D,R,N,N) 1 14. Lukasz Kret (1,1,2,1,3) 8 15. Piotr Dziatkowiak (0,1,0,0,2) 3 16. Tobias Busch (2,2,2,3,0) 9 U21: 1. Jan-Lukas Dittner 11Pkt. 2. Dennis Pedersen 10Pkt. 3. Hannes Gast 10Pkt. 4. Maximilian Pott 7Pkt. 5. Michal Kordas 0 (fell in first heat and pulled out of meeting )
  22. Well that would probably be my only chance of watching them, personally. But Germany has borders with a few countries and i think the tv channels cross the border.I know one of my friends who lives a bit further north than me used to be able to watch danish tv and get the GPs.I also know some people over in Berlin who watch Polish tv.Maybe people down in Bavaria can pick up a foreign channel that shows speedway? That really covers the main speedway areas in Germany anyway. The middle of the country, away from the borders isn't really big on speedway.Tbh i don't watch much.Eurosport is enough and i will try and tune in tomorrow to see how Smoli + Kevin go
  23. I do get the impression from some of the discussions that there are people just hoping this all fails.Wait to see them post if anything negative happens. Not saying that SCB is one,but i think a few are here.Pity that some seem to want speedway to fail.Don't think it unreasonable to compare this series with old World Pairs titles as this is a line-up fit for a world title.Just wait for BSI to start an official pairs title......And rather funny that all the talk of it not being necessary to have a European Championship, what do EUFA go and do?They announce yet another football title to add to the Euro Champs!!!!! It is all about money and giving the fans something rather than friendlies. If the fans don't want it they won't go,just like any of the One Sport meetings
  24. No,but we get the One sport meetings on Eurosport for free.Starting tomorrow with the Pairs in which Smoli rides
  25. No need. Why not lay all those bricks Matt Ford has bought for the Belle Vue stadium around the track to keep the rain off in future, until the day they are needed in Manchester?
