  1. Stadium isn't as good as Bayern Munichs though,is it?
  2. Yes.I went there twice.First time i thought "well maybe it was just a bad meeting".After the second meeting was just as bad i have never set foot in the place again
  3. Wasn't the recent European Grasstrack Final held on a sand(long)track????Thought i saw a convo on the net about the meeting.Someone announcing they were going to the Grasstrack Final, someone saying "but that is a sandtrack" and the other guy who was the announcer saying "yes i know, but the title of the meeting is European Grasstrack"!!!!!! Amazing if true
  4. Personally think this system is much better than the one before when a rider got into the final with less points than others and ended up with top points just because he won the final. At least with this system the rider with the most points over the season wins the title, rather than the one who fluked a few finals.I see no problem that every point counts
  5. June '77 we had 02.06-Reading (GBL)42-36 09.06-Wolves(GBL)43-35 16.06-Bristol(KO2)48-30 23.06-White City(Ch)40-38 30.06-Hull(GBL)47-31 and Eddie won the Embassy Internationale on the 6th
  6. I'd agree with you on the U21 series and especially taking it to Argentina. But in a way that goes against what you say in that they lack the mean spiritness. My way of thinking, despite the evidence they just went ahead with that project because it was what Armando wanted. Not sure who is on the CCP apart from Castagna?Olsen? I get what you are saying, but i doubt any of them are poor.No-one sadly makes much money out of speedway apart from the top-ish riders and a few promoters and possibly BSI,Mike Patrick and Phil Rising
  7. Sure it was announced last season(didn't i put a link on here)that Parken wouldn't host any more GPs.This years was a "special" because of the DMU centenary or last years would have been the last one
  8. On the face of it that does seem a bit ridiculous. Are you saying the FIM have given a specific life to an air fence and then the track that bought it must sell it and the track that buys it cheap can then just ask for a new licence, pay a couple of hundred quid and they have a cheap airfence that will last 5 years or so?The original track then has to buy a brand new airfence again......
  9. I understand the dilemma.I'd imagine it will be extremely hard for some countries/tracks to ever afford an airfence,as like you say an old one isn't any good. How do we get around that?Do the FIM outlaw non airfence tracks,so they in effect run as pirate/non licenced tracks? All riders that ride on them are then automatically banned from FIM competitions?
  10. Like i said on the 125 thread,it would also put a lot of the Danish 80cc tracks out of business and quite a number of other tracks around the speedway world. It is of course desirable, but not at the moment possible to have all tracks fitted with an airfence.Think there are still a number in GB without an airfence and Longtracks have seen a number of bad accidents in recent past. Think it would not only put Finnish speedway out of business, but Argentinian,Bulgarian,Estonian etc.But it is a big decision for fans and riders if they want to go to a track without an airfence
  11. Guess you spotted this from my comment about the group.I just assumed it would be forming some sort of pressure group, but guess as the next Dutch League meeting is set for next weekend then nothing so far has happened. The easy answer for those fans and riders who don't want speedway at tracks that have no airfence is.....don't go to them.It will be interesting to see how many fans and riders(some who witnessed the tragic crash last weekend)will attend the Dutch meeting
  12. Sometimes i do wonder if "we all love Speedway".I wonder what the point is of coming onto a GP thread and posting that someone thought the stadium wasn't as good as those in the football World Cup or the atmosphere wasn't as good as in Brazil!!!!!I mean that isn't news to anyone and in all honesty, what sport can compete with the football world cup? Also wonder what the point is in coming on here and saying speedway isn't as good as stock cars etc.......maybe it is just me,but i really don't get the point if someone does love speedway. It is that sort of post or posts from others who don't actually attend that slag off British speedway saying it isn't as good as Polish etc which they watch on the internet.Constant sniping from people who don't attend and have no intention of attending makes you wonder if they are doing it because they love the sport and want to see it as good as it was back in the 50s or 60s or are just sniping for the fun of it/boredom
  13. These FIM junior titles are a bit strange that way.Wasn't it last year that they had a "speedway" meeting on a grass track? And then later on in the season had a grass track meeting at the same place. No consistency .I wonder if the movement for "No airfence=no speedway" are also going to campaign for this in junior speedway etc?Would mean a number of 80cc tracks in Denmark/Sweden having problems
  14. No.Really i don't.Having had a look at a few threads over the past couple of days it seems a number of members have had problems with a certain poster,so i have no idea if this "other fellow" is one of them or someone else..... What i would say is that there does seem to be a problem with multiple user names or just constant changing of user name.We have seen over the years people saying they are leaving and then coming back with a new name or people having a number of user names. So i must admit to being a bit wary when a new member comes along and starts posting a lot and in a certain style etc. Those people who have abused the forum in the past have made me cautious
  15. Only one GB rider, but when i saw him Finn Loheider was riding with a split German/GB flag race jacket, because of a friendship with some British fans
  16. Agreed. The thing that gets me on here are those who constantly post, but constantly moan about the place its members and the mods!!!! Don't like it,go somewhere else or start your own forum......oops!
  17. Condolences to family and friends.Saw him a few times in Berlin and he was a very colourful and exciting rider who just seemed to lack the consistency to reach the top.Sad day for speedway and ice speedway R.I.P
  18. I seem to recall one top Dane who is now retired calling Protasiewicz an animal or something along those lines and getting a lot of people agreeing.Don't remember him ever saying that about Nicki. So it is all about opinions and from what part of the world you come from maybe.Never had any problems with Nicki.Think he is one of the most exciting riders out there and can believe him when he say's he does have great control over his bike.I always wondered about his lifting in the bend and 'losing control' as he did it so regularly i thought it was a ploy to block riders. It can go wrong of course, but that isn't his intention. His intention is to win or get in front of the rider in front of him.I don't think it is win at all cost, but he is a winner and a champion and they have a different attitude to those who are just middle of the road........
  19. One thing that has me worried is the bad to very bad track surfaces that have been seen lately. This was a strange surface.Kroner was saying how it was grippy and seemed moist by the start gate, but on the bends it was extremely dusty and slick. Then we had recently two very poor GPs.Add to that the criticism from NKI about British tracks and also Two recent FIM meetings in Germany came in for criticism.Mads i think called Abensberg a disgrace or very dangerous and at least one other rider backed him up. There really needs to be something done by the FIM i'd guess to get tracks/track staff up to standard.A school of excellence for a week or so where the information can be passed on to track curators.People are paying out good money and are being robbed of any meaningful entertainment
