  1. But the referee was perfectly within the rules to exclude someone. The way people are going is the ref should turn a blind eye because it was the final.Guess we should have calls that the ref in a world championship boxing match should do a "long" count if someone gets knocked down in the first or second round because it would spoil the fight if he counts the guy out.....
  2. But theirein lies the problem. If riders know that the rules will probably not be implied in a final they might take more liberties/chances in the knowledge things will be ignored and we will have calls that the ref has cheated a team out of a title......Not easy to make split second decisions that will please everyone.
  3. Don't think it is like that.It might be more like watching a movie and wishing the end was somehow different to the one the Director chose
  4. I remember at an indoor meeting on a surface that was fairly dangerous, there was only 1 rider left in a heat and he poodled round and was excluded for not trying!!!!!Then again at another meeting there was a run-off in which both riders agreed on tactics and just went round wheelying for 4 laps and the ref done nothing.Half the fans thought it was the best thing they have ever seen and the other half were a bit annoyed
  5. Bonnie Tyler!!!!! You mean J.Lo or Shakira isn't appearing like in the Football World Cup?????I hope my visitors aren't disappointed
  6. Think some have got a bit sidetracked with the spelling lark, and that was probably my fault.I just brought the spelling into it to show that the Danes not only spell it differently but pronounce it differently. As pandorum stated it is the pronounciation that is the problem. You can spell it how you want, but there is surely only one correct pronounciation of a name and that is the one the rider chooses? As was stated the Poles, being close neighbours of, and having a similar language and i'd guess still quite a large percentage can speak Russian to school level at least, should know how to say the name. The thing that has bothered me is regional accents/dialects don't seem to exist in Russia.I have asked on a number of occasions work colleagues from Russia/Kazakhstan about this and everyone has said there are no big differences in accent throughout the vast country!!!!Always found it hard to believe due to the big differences in both England and Germany
  7. Funny that.I saw him in Güstrow this year and at first wondered who this German guy Franz was
  8. You know that,i know that, but in Denmark they always as far as i have seen spelt it Lokatev!!!! Thought it was a mistake at first but it went on and on like that..... Actually looking at the Outrup v Holstebro programme from 2012,which was the last time i saw him in Denmark his name is spelt Lokajev
  9. Maybe Jack has been watching the Danish speedway as they always had him down as Lokatev
  10. Apparently you pronounce if Shilmakorpi.......never knew that. And after informing us,he continues to call him Kilmakorpi!!!!!
  11. Hope you bought something nice with the money I did pay for them didn't i?Wouldn't buy one of Gustix books,if he wrote one,so that is some comfort lol
  12. Not sure what Norbolds post was bringing to a decent thread. But i just gave him some advice, that's all
  13. Honestly,i have seen some amazing races there. Was talking to Andy Smith a few weeks ago and he said he loved the place "like a little Sheffield",although i have never been to Sheffield so can't say if there is any resemblance at all.Gollob said it was like Ipswich and Nicholls said it was like a small Longtrack......Really is worth a visit once in a lifetime.Nearby Teterow is totally different.Chalk + Cheese and pretty boring track
  14. Is it that you have spelt his name Covatti + Covetti? And you spelt faults as fauts!!!!
  15. To be fair the stadium was probably a bit of a wreck at that time.Only about 7 or 8 years ago the main terracing on the 3rd/4th bend was crumbling away and had to be cordened off at some stage i think. They have done some major work at the stadium most winter breaks for a few years now and the stadium is well worthy of big meetings.I would say that the racing is regularly very good.Last nights meeting wasn't even great for that track. It can often be better
  16. Wimbledons start + finish line thing was due to the track being too small for international meetings,so they needed the extra few yards to meet standards, not for any racing decision.Don't remember the start line being right down by the corner either and guess it provides a problem as to where does the refs box go?start line or finish line.Personally think Güstrow works well. There were quite a few close finishes last night
  17. Oh deary me. Someone asked for help and i have tried to give some.Answered the results question and gave one memory of the Internationale. At the beginning of the 70s it was a massive meeting.By the 80s i think it was finished wasn't ?I was truely surprised at just how big the crowd was for that first one i went to.Not sure what the problem is in mentioning that?
  18. Now you have topped the first comment. We can always rely on you.Have yet to see you say anything positive!!!!
  19. Classic!!!!If your only moan is about the girls outfits then it must have been good
  20. It is a wonder that half of the crowd couldn't be attracted to Bydgoszcz, which isn't That far away really and the German fans are used to travelling over the border.Surely they weren't interested in the womens basketball as well?????
  21. No,but if you go to the newspaper archive you might be able to find out and put it in a book
  22. Great start to the series.Expect more great crowds at Togliatti and Holsted. Both tracks where Nicki goes well.Holsted his home track and sure he won a Lada in Russia before
  23. Well it is the biggest meeting since the last one held at Güstrow or the one at Teterow, both on the Whitsun weekend which got about 6-8,000.It is just the right area for the sport where the major North German speedway population lives.Big meetings there always get big crowds
  24. My first Internationale was in 1973 and it was quite a shock just how big a meeting it was.The cars were parking half way down Blackshaw Rd!!!!!Then when i got to the stadium i couldn't believe how big the queue to get in was.Think by '77 they weren't parking any where near so far down Blackshaw Rd and the stadium queues weren't as big.It was a marker for me that speedway was on the slide(no pun intended). Can just imagine in those early years of the meeting the queues were even bigger as they were in '73.......
  25. Some great racing in front of a super crowd in wonderful weather. What more could you ask for? :t:and it doesn't seem to matter to anyone that the title is "mickey mouse"
