Well it is a bit unfair to compare Vojens with Manchester i agree which is why i asked Phil if Gorican was better or worse. It seemed better to compare a country that has only produced 1 decent rider in the last decade rather than a country like Denmark. The trouble was Phil ducked out of that one.So maybe 2-0 to me
-
I wasn't comparing one grandstand with another. If you look i was comparing the stadium as a whole with another. You were the one who said everything in the stadium was temporary apart from the grandstand and i just pointed out you were not telling the truth....... And to answer your question if i have been to Vojens.Yes i have as have many thousands of others. As it stands at the moment neither you or anyone else has been to the national Stadium and seen a race, let alone any grandstand or bar
-
Not true.Just ignoring things that don't suit your arguement. The refreshment facilities and the toilet facilities are permanent as is the very useful 80cc track next door. All in all the package is different but as a national stadium.not much better imo
-
Guess British speedway gets what it deserves.Doesn't sound to me as if this stadium is any better than Vojens and Vojens was built 40 years ago and isn't really up to hosting international speedway these days we are told.Is it as good or better than Gorican, which was one mans project?
-
Sad but true, most probably. At least they are going to have track covers made
-
The thing is if we are talking about a GP series back in the old days you not only have to look at who was the best rider in that year, but you have to sort out the venues and dates for the GPs and if during the course of the actual season the best rider was injured for a couple of those dates then there is no chance he would have won.

Either it is a national stadium or it isn't!!! Anyway at least one other club put money into the brick fund if i remember.....
-
The only people i feel sorry for are Wards parents. They spent a lot of time and money in supporting his career in the early days.I met darcy's dad in Denmark on his first visit to Europe and the trip had cost a good whack. Now to add further to the trouble of going through a break-up,they have their son letting them down big time yet again.

Rostock should be the place, but sadly i don't think they have a stadium that could host speedway -

Let's hope not.Track is crap.....nothing like Güstrow.Boring slick track that had problems for the U21 team meet earlier in the season and had to be inspected during the meeting, then a few weeks back in a German U21 meet the riders refused to ride because of track conditions -
Really Deans post say's it all.Riders go into a meeting alongside guys they know are not functioning at a normal level because of alcohol or possibly drugs, but do nothing about it.It is their lives at risk, but don't want to say anything that will rock the boat and maybe get them ostracised. In a way a similar thing happens in a lot of jobs.I used to work at a factory where on night shifts the boiler man(the guy who could blow the place up if things go wrong)was regularly out of his brain on night rubbishs and no-one said a word, not even the shift foreman.......and the guy had to drive home which was putting even more lives at risk. But at the time it was treated more as a joke than a problem

Eurosport And The Swedish League Play-offs

Not sure where you get that from.Maybe because i live in Hamburg(quite a coincidence really, seeing as i went to school in Wimbledon)which is one of, if not the main german tennis centre, but we get decent coverage of the sport here.Far far more than speedway gets Still disappointed that speedway isn't on..... -

Patryk Dudek Tests Positive For Banned Substance
iris123 replied to lastword's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Might be ok to drive with the drowsy stuff, but what about the "verging on hallucinating terrible stuff" ?? Also i had an eye infection that was treated with an ointment that made my vision blurry for 15-20 minutes. Not advisable to jump in a car straight away. Like i say it is our responsibility and it is also the riders.No-one admits to doing wrong nowadays until undeniable evidence is produced.Until that point everything is denied point blank..... -
Here we go.Bring a serious topic down to the level of a speedway star article!!!

Patryk Dudek Tests Positive For Banned Substance
iris123 replied to lastword's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I was replying to a post that mentioned the FIM.........it doesn't matter. There are banned substances and riders have the responsibilty to avoid them.Just like as a car driver it is my responsibilty not to drive if taking a medicine that will affect my driving.... -

But it doesn't matter. If the FIM have issued a list of banned substances then it is up to riders to avoid those substances -

"a lot of people" don't need to realise something is banned by the FIM,do they?We aren't members of the FIM riding in their sport.People that do ride in FIM meetings should be very careful in what they take and the FIm if they are going to test for banned substances should advise riders. No excuses. -
Another accusation of cheating without any facts though. We had this from Mads a couple of years back, accusing riders of cheating without the balls to do anything.Puk is the same.If he knows for a fact that riders are cheating why hasn't he done anything about it?Why hasn't he informed anyone at a meeting if the riders are cheating and/or dangerous to him and fellow riders? If Puk knows it is happening, then surely others know too,but nothing is done about it.........laugh,i almost went to Ethiopia

Radical Suggestion For The Elite League 2015
iris123 replied to racers and royals's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just my opinion, but i am not a fan of the danish system. For me the previous system was better with 6 riders and two to guys per team.Obviously they changed to save money and therefore probably teams, but watching Holsted with both Nicki + Puk against two top riders in the opposing team made it less predictable. There were a few factors that made me stop going up for DSL meetings. One was Vojens dropping out as that is my nearest track, but one other was the change of system.I doubt if i would bother much to travel up even if Vojens were still riding. Now there is for me a feeling that you can fill most of the programme in before a heat has been run,bar the very odd surprise........ It is a cut in costs, but more importantly for me a cut in entertainment. And that isn't good for the crowd. I also thought the reserve rides or the 250cc heats in Germany were along the same lines. It seemed the same rider won all the heats the same rider was second all the time etc. -
Riga Gp Tickets 2014
iris123 replied to James 12345's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
No doubt though that Phil will find a rider or two who will say it looked brilliant before the rain came......and if it goes ahead,it will be much better next year for the SWC is another promise .Bets anyone? Like you say, it looked like a disaster from the first photos......and enough people said so -
Fim Bans Participation In European Championships
iris123 replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
Sensible decision.Just a pity the FIM made themselves look like a bunch of fools in getting to this stage -
Any other poster on this forum and it just wouldn't be funny.......but that gave me a real belly laugh

Swedish speedway for me,because it is on tv whereas PL isn't.Now if i had the choice i might well have chosen PL.Depends on the teams and riders. But i am not a big watcher of speedway on tv anyway. It'll be on,but i doubt i will give it 100% attention.I might even join some on here in posting stuff like "big off" and "what a race that was" or "this is pretty crap even though there are big stars in both teams,i'd rather watch PL".....sadly i can't join in the slagging off of the commentators as we have different ones here.Probably Tobi Kroner, who makes a better commentator than a rider
