Best Speedway Track In The World?
iris123 replied to Stoke Potter's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I'd say from my experience...Güstrow in Germany -
Would probably have been for the best if Grig had carried his wish to become a Latvian citizen through, although that obviously as far as i know got dropped because of his inability to get to grips with the language. And nobody knows more than me how difficult learning a foreign language can be
-
Exactly.Think OveF.... has missed the point. This isn't about choosing a wildcard this is about choosing a substitute from all the worlds best riders that aren't currently in the GPs surely? Then you end up with a someone like Nilsson instead of Kildemand.Different class and robs the paying public and tv viewers imo.No-one argues that a local wildcard might be a bit of a duffer, but substitutes shouldn't be in that category if there is already a local wildcard selected. My opinion

On the one side i can see that BSI wouldn't want to stick someone in that at this stage might upset the apple cart as it were and get in amongst the top scorers during the important race for the title. But it does seem a poor choice and robs the paying public of seeing one of the top contenders for a wild card place.Any of the riders listed by scb would be far better than Nilsson .Obviously the newly crowned Euro champ coming in and beating the soon to be crowned world champ would be a bit of an embarrasment that i can understand they would want to avoid

Reading the thread about silencers,it seems next years approved silencers will actually be 3db louder(which is a considerable even if it doesn't look it difference)and must cause more problems for some tracks.Seems the noise tests will be made whilst the bike is ticking over instead of at full revs which currently happens.Think this is bad news for the sport There is also a very interesting thread that has received scant attention and deserves a look http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=77816

If this is a fact that he hasn't been using his best bikes in the GP series it just yet again shows he regularly makes the wrong decision. At this stage i doubt anything much will change in that direction, just like nothing much will change with his gating.I've long given up on hoping i will see Harris have a decent GP season.I keep my fingers crossed for the next generation though

This is quite a simple rule i follow.........if i am not interested or "tired" of hearing about a subject i just avoid it and let others get on with it.The title of the thread is quite clear,so the next step should be easy for you,eh? Although being tired of hearing about Darcy ward i guess you won't even read my advice
-
I never said Mr Rising.I was talking about forum Phil.Whilst he doesn't get much direct criticism the forum and the mods are always getting slagged which is an indirect slagging imo
-
Itlook a bit strange that just after Pink Polka disappears you turn up.But that could be co-incidence.Anyway it is all a bit boring now.I agree with screm, let's get on with slagging Darcy and Phil

2014 European Speedway Championships
iris123 replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in International World of Speedway
Only caught the last two heats(hope to see a repeat sometime)and the race-off was brilliant.Sadly the stadium looked 4/5ths empty. -
Getting all edjumacated, doing a degree and burnt her bra or was that the dinner and becoming a modern woman Sid.Doesn't even wear a burkha any more,so i heard

But like i said it is really the same market as Gelsenkirchen. Not much difference and Germany i would say has a bigger speedway population.Of course if the sums work out it could work as long as i said, you have someone willing to take the risk.Is there anyone in The Netherlands or elsewhere who wants to take it?You also have to remember that most countries that take an interest in hosting a GP have at least one decent rider(NZ excluded and look how that has gone)which The Netherlands don't As i have said what would be more realistic area wise is Rostock as you have Denmark,Sweden and Poland quite close. But are Güstrow or Teterow really up to a GP? As i doubt the Rostock football stadium as good as it is and i guess Rostock could do with the money -

Not so sure.I mean Gelsenkirchen is not far away from the Dutch border and wasn't a great success. You would basically be attracting the same crowd,so wouldn't expect a "great" attendance.10,000+ though would be ok for the Dutch in the right stadium, but do they have anyone who is willing to put on the show?Assen is something else really. It is almost a one-off.Not much chance for lots of people to see the sport apart from Assen + Berlin unless you make an expensive trip,so Assen has the market cornered.Wouldn't be the same for a speedway GP as there are more alternatives -
There was news on the net a while back that Arthur Sissis was contemplating a comeback after being dropped by his Superbike team or whatever it was.Now he is one of the most naturally talented youngsters i have seen.Should hit the ground running and make it up there very quickly.if he does come back.Australia would have a frighteningly good team if darcy could get himself straightened out and then Fricke or Kurtz reach international standard as well.....
-
Very true.A rider bursts onto the scene and then obviously gets offers left, right and centre and probably takes on too much too soon.It is then a case of consolidation and learning a lot in a short time. Some sink under the pressure and one or two come out swimming, but it is rare that a rider goes straight to the top without a dip or two
-
It was a rhetorical question,i wasn't really after a detailed answer But it does highlight just what can happen to any decent young rider.Personally i hope Robert Lambert carries on making good progress and will reach the top before any of the above named riders. What happened to the young guy with the dreadlocks who burst on the scene last year?Lunna.......still going strong?
-
What happened to Zabik? What happened to that other young polish guy who was going to be the next big thing about a year ago?And then there was Dudek as well and now we have young Pawlicki.........and we also had the new bunch of Danes who Erik told Phil were even better than Liglad,M.Bech and Mikkel Michelsen.............. Knew Sid had started this thread from just the snippet i could see of the title And janowski is/was the name of the new superstar from a year or so ago

Eurosport And The Swedish League Play-offs
iris123 replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Can't always believe Boris. Kerber is ranked no.8 in the world,Petkovic no.17,but it is probably Lisicki who is only no.31 is maybe the bigger "star" as she is the girlfriend of a famous german tv star so is often in the news(papers) and Germany are in the finals of the Fed Cup against Czecho. As it is a few days after you wrote this reply(which i had missed until now)there were two similarly sized articles in the paper. One about Matten Krögers attempt to win the German Speedway Final and another about a 15 year old tennis players at the US Open. The thing was though that the prominence of the tennis article was much better as the photo of the young girl was about 5 times bigger than the small pic of Matten -
In a way what is really sad is that at Plough Lane there was/is a facility that was much better than this proposed stadium and it was run down to the ground and maybe speedway should have got together and taken the stadium as was proposed in the Star back in the day.........
-
Must say i was very surprised to see him in U21 comps this year.Jacqueline must know as she deals with him and presumably his licence for bookings in Germany
-
I'll accept that
-
Seems to have been around for ever. Was years ago when he was being spoken of as the new Hans Nielsen(the Brovst connection there) and also being linked with Newcastle.........
-
Well it is a bit unfair to compare Vojens with Manchester i agree which is why i asked Phil if Gorican was better or worse. It seemed better to compare a country that has only produced 1 decent rider in the last decade rather than a country like Denmark. The trouble was Phil ducked out of that one.So maybe 2-0 to me
-
I wasn't comparing one grandstand with another. If you look i was comparing the stadium as a whole with another. You were the one who said everything in the stadium was temporary apart from the grandstand and i just pointed out you were not telling the truth....... And to answer your question if i have been to Vojens.Yes i have as have many thousands of others. As it stands at the moment neither you or anyone else has been to the national Stadium and seen a race, let alone any grandstand or bar
