  1. If after reading this thread he was confused as to who we are talking about he would be .......gustix
  2. If he was feeling a bit lairy after a night on the bevvy with his mates, then he would be Darcy Wardareyoulookingatpal
  3. You didn't need to tell us,it's written all over your face
  4. Does she have to be a feminist to have an opinion on rape or other problems in society? We have politicians and judges who make major decisions in our life who do worse things than appear in a magazine in their underwear. What century are we living in here????
  5. Is that official or are you a know all who is making it up?How do you know he has served his time when the hearing hasn't taken place?
  6. Not an expert on her career, but going by the pix on the previous link she is in her underwear!!! Nothing different to Naomi Campbell or Kate Moss.Even if she got her booh bees out it doesn't mean she can't have an opinion on suspected rape cases,or are we turning into an Islamic state?
  7. Sports doping has just been made a criminal offence in germany with a maximum 3 year jail sentence, but doctors and coaches who are involved could get up to 10 years. Will more countries follow?
  8. I can see the attraction for certain people in these groups. You can post things without being challenged.I might think Mark Burrows is one of the most talented riders ever and no-one is allowed to say anything to burst my bubble.Personally i find it healthier if when i post something other people are allowed an alternative view, that is why the BSF hasl always been my main port of call on things in the speedway world and places like Karl Fialas or John Hyams groups are for insecure people or in the second case a place where the tumbleweed blows through........
  9. You might be right Norbold. But maybe you've been in Clacton too long?It is one of those places that are full of just the people i was thinking of.I am sure "dicky bird" is said more often than the norm there !!!!
  10. Come off it Phil, that is you talking to yourself!!!! Only people of a certain age and from parts of the country say things like that now.You and Mike Patrick for instance.......
  11. Sure i saw some film on it at one London motorbike show in the 70s and it looked very dramatic. The guys were like gladiators in the back of a wagon that drove them out on the track to their bikes. But i guess in a film you can make things more dramatic and exciting than they are at the track. From later stuff on here it seemed to be more for the betting than anything else
  12. Then i will try to make sure i am there mate.About time we had a beer together I have been to Assen, but i'll leave any comments/advice to Conkers or Dutchgrasstrack as they have more knowledge and like the place more than i do
  13. I wasn't.Not even on the way
  14. What has happened or is happening with the mooted meeting in China?Thought reps from across the Russian border met with Castagna + co last season with the idea of hosting a meeting?
  15. Indeed.Still active on MotoX i think. But his political career is probably more important now than trying a new motorsport career i'd guess
  16. Grigori Laguta used to ride and used to be good,so there is one.Freddie Lindgrens father used to be good,so he is a possible, though i am not sure he ever tried it.Others would be just speculating, but world champ Daniil Ivanov is also a very good speedway rider,so we know it is possible to do both even in this day and age
  17. She'd be much better on Eurosport and her diddies would be bigger
  18. Well i am spared the pain with my situation, but yes i would Actually way back in the old days you could say i did pay to watch something similar.I got my parents to travel up to Hull for the Briggo farewell meeting in which Ove Fundin rode a few heats with Briggo,Ivan Mauger and Peter Collins. But i was young and there is no-one quite in the Fundin category i would travel to see now
  19. The trouble was GB tracks couldn't/wouldn't move with the times. You can't expect everything to stay how it was 30 years ago.30 years ago football was basically saturday afternoon at 15:00 + wednesday at half 8 or so....now it is almost everyday and at various times.Even before the advent of the GPs tracks were changing race nights or wanted to and weren't allowed in some cases.Wimbledon raced on mondays when i was born but changed to thursday and was it even wednesdays?I remember one track(i think White City) wanted to change their race night and weren't allowed because another promoter wouldn't let them.Quite often tracks weren't running on their chosen night, they were running on a night that they were allocated and as soon as another track closed down they changed their race night. Speedway was shooting itself in the foot and on the slide long before the GPs.And they wanted and still want pretty much every day of the week.Well the world has changed and the speedway power base has also.Speedway in GB has to change or the downslide will continue.Personally i think it will continue anyway, but changes have to be made to try and slow down the fall
  20. Ok for a second half filler, but i wouldn't pay to watch something like this
  21. Doesn't matter what was what 30 years ago.We are talking now and the future. And it doesn't matter if the GPs or something else is the cause. The GPs are here to stay, just as all the other alternatives to going to speedway are
  22. I have been saying for years that there is too much speedway and it isn't viable. But that trouble to an extent is caused by promoters not owning their stadiums. They have to make deals with the stadium owners which mean they have to run so many meetings and trying to do a deal for fewer meetings would probably mean the rent goes up accordingly. The gap between the top two leagues(Sweden/Poland) and the GPs and the British leagues gets bigger every year.People feel they are getting better value for money by travelling abroad to watch some league meetings and a GP or two.Now that isn't extra money they are finding, but money they would have probably have spent on British speedway. It is the same as i read recently on the Beeb that around 1,000 english football fans travel over to watch Borussia Dortmund home game every other week as they think it is more value for money than watching Premier League football. In another report i watched last night it stated how big football clubs are sucking the life out of other sports in the area.Again Dortmund was named.Back in the 70s there were a few other sports in Dortmund that had teams in various Bundesligas. They have generally gone by the way-side as football has attracted most of the main sponsors and season tickets use up much of the money that fans have available,so nothing much left over for other sports. In the main it is only viable for other sports to run in areas that don't have big football clubs.Speedway is much the same around Europe in this sense and it will only get harder. The finances don't really add up to run so many meetings in what is essentially an expensive sport with few spectators. The clubs on the continent are better set up to run with fewer meetings.I can't see the British model working as it does for much longer
  23. Think it could be the answer for not all,but some tracks. The trouble is i doubt it would be allowed by those tracks who are running a team in the league. It is also(i think) linked in with promoters renting stadiums and having to use them as often as possible rather than just 6 or 7 times a year
