  1. Crackerjack + Hampel were announced as the Polish pair yesterday?Ho hum
  2. Ha ha.....on FB it is all going great guns again.I see there is a campaign page to get darcy the Oz wildcard.Guess all the usual suspects will be on it and promoting it for the poor lad
  3. Please don't keep on.We are trying to have a decent debate here!!!
  4. Think we have to realise that. And should be grateful for some great local coverage in the press and like I say,the internet is also a fantastic resource if used to your advantage
  5. Still have 90-odd league teams though.........and then unlike years ago more and more coverage is given to the other big football leagues in Europe.I really can't remember back in the 70s or 80s much being said about German,Italian or Spanish football. That has all changed now.And it seems some European clubs attract more English people than local speedway can..... http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/29624410
  6. Football is undoubtedly way out in front now.Over the last 20 years or so the financial power has just grown and grown and nothing really can match it apart from the Olympics. This latest Premier League deal has even shocked the Bundesliga. It seems the bottom team in the Premier will get about 4 times the amount from tv that the top teams in Germany will get. There really is no way a small sport(and compared to football what isn't?)can compete for column space, sponsors and sadly even fans

  8. Ok,i need a new pair of trainers and a leather bomber jacket.Which pub?
  9. Will they still be showing Swedish speedway as well this season?
  10. It was a quick glance.......at the bottom of the list
  11. And there was the guy known as Diablo Rojo or something when he toured South America because of his red leathers.Ex Belle Vue rider and promoter?
  12. Simon Wigg,Eric Broadbelt,George Stancl,Kevin Wölbert,Zdenek Kundra,Ivan Mauger,Okoniewski and lately Kacper Woryna have all worn green at some period in their career. Some longer than others. But a couple of polish teams have green in their official colours.Just seen a team line up and the guys are all in their official black/green shirts including Batch,Dakota North and Chris Harris!!!!!
  13. That reminds me of Glasgow back in the 80s,when you could put your 'order' in and in a few hours it would be brought to your table in the pub!!!
  14. Each to their own I guess. The pie + mash trade still seems to be going strong even with the few who don't like it.Unfortunately the same can't be said about London speedway or the fishing industry.Let's all hope the book sells as fast as they can knock 'em out though
  15. Few years back we had a thread along these lines about Leathers/Kevlars http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=44544&hl=%2Bgreen+%2Bleathers
  16. Think I count 4 people who you could call "negative" if you take the point they are looking back to the days when speedway received far more coverage in the nationals than today.Seems a fair viewpoint to have, although I for one think internet coverage has made up for that.My view is that more coverage wouldn't make much difference as those that aren't interested in speedway would just flick past any speedway in the papers so I can't see anyone being "massively negative",just realistic.Parsloes going ott as ever?
  17. It was terrible to wait all that time to get the results. And back in the newspaper days I never had any idea about all the ins and outs of the sport like slick tracks etc. They were either dry or soaked and Cyril had to bring out the sawdust........
  18. Actually,i am still drinking all the stuff I quickly bought when I heard 2 Finns were coming !!!!!
  19. My guess is that is was around then that Chunky meant and not before
  20. Thank god for that.I thought Darcy was taking on the IMF.Then again Muddlo probably thinks speedway is run by the WWF,and I don't mean the wrassling folk
  21. Used to eat in the Tower Bridge Rd one a bit.But Harringtons was most frequented by my family. My mums family lived near the Selkirk and then made the big move to the other side of Garratt Lane A visit is usually a must when I am back 'home'
  22. Was planning on at least one meeting in either Berlin or Assen, but had to put back a trip to the mountains which meant no Assen yesterday. So missed my chance of a beer with you and also my chance of a beer with f-s-p this week as well due to German inefficiency and a Finn who comes to Germany to buy a van that only does 100kmh!!!!!
