  1. Your original statement Rob was "no-one remembers the losers or those that dropped out"..........I just pointed out a film was made about one.In fact a documentary was also made about her Now if you had said you don't remember losers or people who have dropped out then I couldn't disagree
  2. It was in a sense an Olympics where one or two of those missing have been remembered. There was a film based on this jewish athletes life made http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gretel_Bergmann
  3. A fair point.Does a dominant sportsperson make the sport duller and would his absence be better in the long run?Krasnikovs domination of ice speedway for instance
  4. On the other hand it was a shame that Cassius Clay missed a few years......
  5. Classic case being Denmarks win in the 1992 European Championships
  6. That is so true. There was the blonde kid who at a very young age was being trained by Ajax and then only made it to non league level.I also remember at Millwall we had a kid,Cherno Samba I think his name was who was being lined up for a million quid transfer by Liverpool at the age of 14 and I don't recall him ever making it.Sid won't believe it though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherno_Samba
  7. Ok Sid think this over very slowly then........Risager is also from a different era to Lee,but you are trying to compare them. Not me,not anyone else, but YOU!!!!
  8. Yes,but it isn't a point worth making.Hancock or Holder were never rated as highly as Lee,but they still became champions.No-one has to be rated as high as Lee to be thought of as a future world champ.Lambert doesn't have to be rated as high as Lee and he still could make a title.Mauger wouldn't have been rated as highy as Lee at 17,but how many titles did he win?
  9. Whoops!!! There you go sid,you are now agreeing with us.It doesn't matter whether they go n to win a world championship or not.No-one can really tell. But people rate riders highly and most fail.Risager was one whether you remember or not Zabik and Bridger were also highly rated and got nowhere
  10. It isn't just me and Orion though. It is Orion, scb(who saw him week in week out) the guy who wrote the piece I linked to,the speedway star guy and the people my mate Udo keeps baiting after all these years
  11. You saw him didn't you?Week in week out.Not some once a year guy who won't listen,I'll listen what did you think and those who saw him week in week out and the people who dealt with him.Very professional I heard took it to another level at junior level in Denmark.I'm listening
  12. It doesn't matter in comparison to others how he was rated. He was rated very highly and by some a future world champ. He didn't have to be as good as Lee,because he was retired by then and Risager wouldn't have to beat him to become world champ.......It is a fact.Just look at the link provided or take a search back to things around 2005 about him
  13. It's not about your opinion sid.Just because you don't remember people rating Risager highly doesn't mean it didn't happen.IT DID
  14. This seems to suggest otherwise Sid.I could do a search and find more I reckon.Maybe you could as well.Think your memory is letting you down on this one http://www.lovespeedway24.co.uk/teams/ipswich-witches/it_doesn_t_seem_10_years_more_like_10_days_since_morten_risager_burst_onto_the_speedway_scene_according_to_him_on_saturday_it_s_his_testimonial_meeting_at_foxhall_scott_nicholls_kenneth_bjerre_and_niels_kristian_iversen_and_all_1_3458885
  15. I agree if you talk about the Danish Superleague. But as a 16 year old in your first season on a 500cc you normally have to do half a season in the lower league before you ride in the top league. So it might not be the case that Risager was riding much in a better league than the German. Anyway I don't see much to gain from comparing.Let's cross our fingers that Robert and a few of the others go further than Morten. There was a joint thread a few years about Robert and Nathan Greaves.Hw is Nathan progressing and we also have a decent junior in Zak Wajknecht I think I think you are being a bit unfair.Risager was very highly rated by a number of people. In fact a friend of mine here in Germany still brings the fact up on the web now and again to wind people up.
  16. Poor Chris Harris not really in it,but the other 3 have a great race https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IB2dt0Y_Dhw One of the best I witnessed personally was a Danish Final at Holsted a few years ago.Nicki cocked up the 1st bend and was laft behind.Over the race he fought his way past Bjarne,NKI and then took Hans to win.Never seen it on video though
  17. This used to a thing with sportowefakty years ago.Thought they had improved, although I hardly look nowadays. I always liked it when they copied my results from here(including the mistakes) and never gave a source
  18. Yeah.Bloody joke how long this is taking. Not as if he is in training for the start of the season,so he has time on his little hands.......
  19. The Champion you've never heard of http://www.roadandtrack.com/motorsports/features/a25233/the-american-world-champion-youve-never-heard-of/ A report on the friendlieness and skill that Hancock has.Not quite sure about the bit where England is one of the disputed places where speedway started, but otherwise a good read
  20. Thought you gave up a few times as we are all below your intelligence level. It's nice of to keep coming back to help us out, though I am not sure why you bother
  21. An update The Darcy for the wildcard campaign has gained at least 40 new supporters in the last hour or so.Not sure if it has been brought to the attention of Ed Milliband and Mahatma Gandhi yet though.Generalisimo Franco is thinking about lending his support at this very moment,so I have heard
  22. But at least Telegraph readers were happy
