  1. Ron Johnson was born in Scotland and went on to ride for Australia
  2. Old news.On here a few weeks back and what is he going to say? "we expect the same old crap as last year, but as long as the mugs pay for tickets we are laughing...."
  3. Does it matter? What matters is the track gives good racing, not how quick is is compared to last year..........it seems the video of the meeting is hard on the eyes. The proof of the pudding will be what the GP is like. One thing in its favour is it can't be worse than last year or the last GP.....can it?
  4. It is poor timing to be giving the riders a big bonus just after they forced a meeting to be abandoned for no real reason other than they couldn't be asked to start on a green light as the rules state.........be announcing a nice big pay rise for Ole now he has learnt another lesson about track building and Jim Lawrence/Phil Morris learnt a lesson about running a meeting fairly + efficiently.Everyone gets a pat on the back and a brown envelope and the fans are short changed.Nice
  5. Oh yeah,so you are some sort of angel.Never done nuffink wrong in your life to judge him.He was a contender and in Sids world that negates beating up someone. So other than that was has he done wrong?
  6. There was a gig in Denmark over the weekend if he fancied a go........
  7. I would say St.Johann was alongside this and the others, very weak
  8. Even Jamrog in that interview said he took parts over to sell.Guess most do.And as for the rest, that is what youngsters do nowadays
  9. Which is pretty much what was said here within hours and without the need for a jolly in Geneva or a meeting with any officials on or off duty.............
  10. Pretty sure in the 1976 speedway yearbook it gives Neil Street of Australia a test meeting for Yugoslavia!!!!! But wasn't the Daily Mirror Nations thingmy in 1973 an official FIM series and there was the Norway/Demark team in that, just really to get Ole Olsen into the series as there was next to no world class Danes at the time other than Ole.......At least I hope it was an official FIm series and not just British promoters inviting riders over or using team names
  11. I agree that it is taken seriously in other coountries.I think Esbjerg announced they would be holding the world pair on their site at first.Might have changed in later announcements. But let's not go over the top, even in official FIM and FIM Europe events we have had things like Team Croatia/Slovenia and Team Europe on a couple of occasions in speedway and Ice speedway I think
  12. Even in official events we have seen similar things happen. In the 2011 U19 team competition we had a joint Croatia/Slovenia team and then there was the mixed Team Europe!!!!
  13. Think if the GPs can use an off duty policeman, then this competition can use an off duty Australian
  14. I'd agree.Whenever I have been to Esbjerg I have rarely seen a good meeting. Most times a dustbowl, but last night it was damp and still poor What I must say how the stadium has developed in the time from my first visit. It was basically a grass bowl with a garden shed as the refs box and a small pavilion with a café and roof for about 40 of us to shelter under as it rained the whole way through a Denmark U21 v Sweden U21 meeting. Now it looks pretty good(for Denmark) with seats and a better its etc
  15. To be honest I find it sad that British speedway has reached the level where Auty,Garrity,Newman and Howarth are mentioned on this thread
  16. As time goes on it is becoming clear that no-one was to blame, especially not BSi nor the riders and certainly not the ref or the FIM.Well actually the way this is going I think we will end up with a statement in the Speedway Star blaming the fans.......for making so much noise!!!!
  17. Abensberg,Germany. The details so far are on a previous page
  18. 2 heats are missing,so I guess they ended up on the same points total? What is clear is our 2 failed to progress
  19. That is the thing though,d we have any riders(apart from Robert Lambert)who has any sort of GP future at the moment?Unfortunately I can't see any.So you just have a few riders who are going for the adventure and a bit of experience. They might get lucky, but that is unlikely with better riders in there..Might have been ok on a British track, but really they are just losing money.Kevin Wölbert pulled out of these meetings a few years back because he always got the long expensive trips while others always got the home meetings. And it sort of answers those who want to see all riders in the world able to enter the world championships.........
  20. Here possibly,if live updates is what you mean. Not normally any livestreams from Italy and updates are also a bit hit and miss http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/wydarzenie/35218
  21. Found this sad news of the death of former Irish rider William "ginger" O'Beirne late last year http://www.irishbiker.ie/general-bike-chat/r-i-p-william-ginger-obeirne-bohemian-motors/
  22. Meeting here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A9vHbfx-8Y
