  1. So Torun was the old sell the land off to a supermarket and get a new site or stadium at a reduced cost. This has happened before.Think of the Crayford stadium or Dulwich Hamlets. And I don't think they were hoping to host a match in the World Cup or a piece of the Olympics as part of their plan
  2. I'm not sure, but I remember a real speedway rider who stole some gear off another rider. He rode for West Ham funnily enough
  3. http://www.speedweek.com/langbahnwm/news/75203/Marcel-Gerhards-neuer-GTR-Motor-mit-Suter-Design.html pretty sure there was a site one of my 'friends' on FB liked this week that had an engine with some details listed, but it is now lost in the depths of Facebook, never to be found again........
  4. Wouldn't disagree, but I think the nutcase half came more to the fore when subedei took over
  5. Bila Hora wasn't just a "guy" he was half Superman, half Einstein
  6. To be honest I am with Ghostie, you are comparing chalk + cheese here. You might have a good point if you were comparing say the Danish(Mikkelsen + Bech maybe....) + Swedish 80cc riders a few years back who rode a test match in Vojens in really appaling conditions.Tha track was just pure mud and the riders were absolutely covered, but they just got on with it and rode. That is the youngsters who are just riding for fun and the pride in representing their country. Now compare that to when they grow up and it becomes a business......then it might be a thread of some merit Seem to recall a meeting last year in Germany where the juniors went ahead with their races, but the more experienced riders wouldn't do theirs.......think it was at Teterow
  7. That for me is where the argument falls down.Ok one or two Polish tracks could build a decent stadium with GPs in mind, but once you get to 4 or 5 then you have too much competition in your country to be assured of getting big meetings regularly. So the theory can't really explain the amount of tracks. And like I already mentioned Togliatti is "this sort of stadium" and hasn't held a GP.You then end up building a great stadium hoping to host GPs etc and and half decent stadium in another country i.e Vojens,Malilla or Belle Vue gets to host them instead because of the rota.........and like you say the calculations about how much money they must make from the GPs etc has forgotten all about how much they have to pay out to host them
  8. It is funny though when a commentator spontaneously calls them England.Think it might be Tatum that regularly does?????
  9. If they don't want to ride for Russia we could put them in,like we did with Schlein
  10. Then it looks like we are lucky with this one.Hope no more rain comes along, although it say's Indianerna is also up to heat 5
  11. Can't for the life of me understand how Matze Bartz gets anywhere near this meeting!!! Surprise that they don't have anyone in Bavaria better than him anyway. It is like Denmark selecting Thomas Sorensen
  12. I know gustix was moaning about you listing the thread "Bank holiday Monday 18" Not a bank holiday and which month do you mean etc,so he is still around and still the same
  13. Not sure I agree with you, especially on the last bit.Togliatti is a great stadium and has never hosted a GP and I doubt that the hosting of a GP once a year comes close to the Polish league meetings which are the true foundation and bring big crowds in regularly. It would be madness to build a stadium in the hope of hsting a GP once a season when other polish clubs also have a stadium to rival it.Belle Vue on the other hand has no competition in this country and you are probably right on that one
  14. Yes I have been to Pardu and Prague(not for the speedway though),the trouble with your idea is that Pardu don't want a GP.They are happy with what they have. You can't force a track to host a GP if they don't want it,which is where any list of the 10 best tracks falls down.....
  15. Me too,but it only works if people know what he is on about.Just like old Subedei giving riders nicknames which no-one else knew.........well at first no-one else knew, but after about 100 times I think we all got the picture
  16. Not the best of meetings, but good enough to keep me watching throughout, which is rare
  17. So that is where all the terrace testers live The one line track nearly got them in trouble there
  18. I did think that in one of the early heats and thought one rider at least looked like he thought the race would be restarted, but it wasn't.And hadn't noticed it since tbh
  19. Could it be the one line is fast and to move off slows you down.Kildemand looked like that in the previous heat.
  20. Think Nicki should have tried to upset Lampart a little there,to give Smektala a chance
  21. Actions speak louder than words. We keep hearing things like "lessons have been learnt" or "it will be better next time".......Prague,how many times? But we keep getting served up with the same rubbish as before.Time to put up or get out,i think
