Absolutely!!!! Not wanting to stick up for promoters, but like I mentioned before the EU have clamped down on diving boards,so maybe laws have got tougher. If an accident was caused by being blinded by the sun they might find themselves in big trouble.Things do change from 30 or even 10 years ago.Just look at the Ty Procter situation. That would have been unthinkable 30 years ago......but,they are taking a big chance with the paying public. They know in which direction(or should doif they look at the right website)the sun will shine throughout the year and are just hoping it won't affect them and if it does then the paying public will just have to put up with it and wait, instead of like Gem say's, start later In Denmark they start earlier or later according to the time of year, surely it is possible in the UK?

What a bugger that the Gp in Tampere was on the same day as the womens institute was holding their annual knitting event.Must have knocked thousands off the gate -
Nail on the head.I find that it is hard to justify the time/money spent on speedway and because none of my kids nor my girlfriend like it then I end up doing something we can all enjoy, because even I can't say I get much enjoyment from it most of the time recently.Even watching it on tv I find once someone makes a protest I think "yes,it is boring so far....." and end up turning to another channel.Maybe it just needs one good meeting to change it all

Must admit my enthusiasm is on the wane. The long delays when it is cold and/or wet are indefensible. Was thinking of taking my son to speedway a few weeks back and lucky I didn't because a bad crash held things up for an hour or so.Now this is unavoidable, but to a newcomer it is just a boring wait......took my girlfriend to speedway a couple of days ago and as a football/speedway fan I am used to dodgy toilets, she was shocked at how bad the womens toilets were, and that was pretty much at the start of the meeting. No knowing how bad they ended up like. But the thing that realy gets on my ** are things like turning up for a meeting and the start being delayed by 90 minutes or more because they have forgotten to book a Doctor.......any by the time they find one willing to give up a sunday afternoon it starts to rain..........

Warsaw Gp Saturday 18th April

Whilst I don't want to be defending BSI at this time I really feel British speedway only has itself to blame for the situation they are in now.Shortsightedness with having no real scheme to train and bring on the youngsters and shortsightedness in not being in charge of their own destiny regards to having virtually no speedway owned stadia. They relied on kids coming through local grasstrack and they relied on stadium owners giving them access on good nights.Without their own stadiums they had little chance to train up youngsters of their own and relied more and more on foreign rider and had to lump whatever days/nights they were given by the stadium owners. That isn't good, regardless of what BSI do.And you/we can hardly complain about them "creaming off the top talent from our Tracks" as most comes from abroad -

They also paid some money for that venture across the ocean to Argentina, which could be seen as trying to help develop the sport in South America.... -
To an extent you are right. It shouldn't have happened that Schlein ended up riding for the "British" team. But how seriously did Germany take the competition to enter a pair when at the same time Germany(not the strongest of speedway countries)were also riding in the Official FIM Team world cup at home, which meant they knew from the offset they would only be sending a reserve 3some to Esbjerg?????? I could understand it if it was Poland or Denmark who have a decent group of riders, but Germany...........

Yes and think they rode in the Russian (or Soviet perhaps) league, before that, but still struggle to put a national side out -
From Wikepedia Millwall have spent 85 seasons in the Football League (1920–21 to 2011–12), and in that time have averaged an attendance of approximately 11,954, with seventeen of those years being played at the current Den and the rest at the Old Den. Just before World War II Millwall averaged their highest attendance of 27,373 and were the tenth best supported club in the country.[31] After the war they continued to attract 20,000+ gates, but the team's fortunes on the pitch began to change for the worse. In the 1950s attendances began to dwindle as the decade drew to a close.[32] Throughout the 1980s Millwall struggled to pull in crowds after home games were made all-ticket after crowd trouble against Leeds United.[33] Often averaging around 4,500 for a season, the club was pushed to the edge of financial extinction.[33] After watching the team struggle for years, promotion to the top flight in 1988 brought supporters back, games are no longer all-ticket and averages since have been just under 10,000.[ So that average for a poor relegation season was just under average

Let's face it there was a meeting a couple of years back with including New Cross,Stamford Bridge etc and they have all been closed for 50 years or more and soon there is a challenge meeting with Wimbledon as the visitors.............

Think the present crowd has held up pretty well over the past few decades really.I remember at the Old Den crowds of 3 or 4,000 and we had one of the biggest terraces in the country.I also remember games of 18 or 20,000 and thinking "how the hell did they fit another 20,000 plus in here?" when the record attendance for the ground was over 40,000 I think for < Derby County FA Cup game.......

Croatia and Latvia only have one track unless you now include Riga which is also a once every 2 year thing I think? So there really isn't much difference apart from Pavlic has money and I guess someone in Daugavpils has some as well........ Might be being slightly unkind, but the way I always looked at it was Pavlic was trying to buy big meetings for his son.Now there is no similar thing in Belgium, but if they had a decent rider who had a rich father the same thing could happen regardless of how many meetings a year they hosted -
Have to have a look, but have you or anyone else read anything to suggest a reason?I was thinking it was just Gorzow and maybe fans we upset at the team selection or prices etc.But if this is at a couple of the better supported tracks it must be more than a local problem.Just found it strange so early in the season when normally enthusiasm is high
