  1. Just seen some results fron the US and ...........Slater Lightcap was among the competitors
  2. Is this thread only about the 1938 season at Dagenham or any season?
  3. Agree with both parts of this.Wouldn't trust either of the two to come out with the true statement
  4. I imagine he has,as have I,but not from Berlin. In fact if I was travelling from Berlin I would offer the person a lift.I have tried to help by hopefully drawing f-s-p's attention to this thread I could also contact a friend from Berlin who might know more or even offer a lift if that is wanted? Tried one friend, but they have a new born baby,so he isn't going Seen that they have speedkart racing starting at 10:30.The training for the Bundesliga starts at 12.30 and the presentation at 13:45
  5. Maybe if f-s-p see's this he can help,as he has done that trip,i think, and it involved a long walk......... I can't help as I come from Hamburg and never travel there from Berlin
  6. As I have mentioned before the region has really got behind the SonderjyskE project..Football and Handball are the main sports in Denmark and I doubt that speedway can match it.And we know Ole has been trying to get commune support for his track, but I guess most money is going to SönderjyskE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%B8nderjyskE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haderslev_Fodboldstadion I'd guess that Oles problems started when Vojens Kommune was abolished and it was lumped in with Haderslev etc .In Vojens it was undoubtedly the main sporting attraction in the region, but in the larger South Jutland region it must take second place to SonderjyskE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vojens_Municipality
  7. I had a lot of mates from Scotland/Ireland who lived in London and were football fans, but wouldn't go to football in England. They were supporters of a club, not general football fans who would wander down to Chelsea or Arsenal etc and pay to watch teams they didn't support.Maybe it is the same with speedway fans from Poland To be frank, from what I have read which admittedly isn't that much it sounds like Scunthorpe is dead. They need 200 "new" fans which if they get 2,000 is 10% increase, but I imagine they get a fair few less than 2,000,so the increase is more like 20-30%???? No chance is there? You might make an increase for a few weeks with such a press release, but it isn't sustainable and that is what they need.I said years ago the Uk needs to have less clubs and less meetings and others said they need more clubs and more meetings. It just isn't sustainable. It also makes me wonder why a club starts in march/arpil is poxy weather and then closes for the season at the end of August when the weather is pretty perfect.Still this is a real big shame as it is a god track that offers riders plenty of practice time, which is what the country needs.Just seems to be in the wrong place i'd guess.Only chance is if Mr Godfrey changes his mind or someone else comes in with money to lose.
  8. Funny you should mention Greece phloppy, but weren't they all up in arms about a flag when Yugoslavia broke up?
  9. I doubt if you know many if any black people personally, but you seem to know how they would react.Normally you always state you will wait for the facts, but when it suits do like to speculate to the nth degree
  10. They might very well not have a problem with it,because as has been explained its meaning and power is lost to many in another country.Just like other than a few places in Scotland and more places in Northern Ireland, the Irish flag has no real controversy in the rest of the world. But again that is one of the reasons why its use at Somerset is questioned, because it has no real meaning.Speedway exists in its own little world and no-one really takes any notice of it.A football player can hardly fart without the world going crazy about it,but a top speedway manager can call fans names and no-one takes any notice But I would say a major problem for speedway is that it hasn't managed to attract ethnic minorities. If it did,we might not have to speculate on how they would react and speculation is something I thought you didn't like, unless of course it suits your argument
  11. Almost certainly no black people there even from nearby Bristol, let alone the deep south of the US
  12. And of course according to Phil,London, one of the main tourist attractions in Europe and hosts of the very successful Olympics is,wait for it,not easy to get to!!!!!
  13. Not true. One big difference between then and now is lots of the alternatives have moved with the times.I used to go to Celtic Park or Highbury and the toilets were terrible,if people could even be bothered to use them.Often they just watered the concrete anywhere they could find a free spot. You were squeezed in and often had no real control on where you were taken by the mass.Go to a football stadium now and it is a totally different experience and that is probably why lots more females go and you will also see a lot more cosmopolitan crowd.Speedway is basically the same experience it was back in the 70s with much the same crowd that went in the 70s.Thse that are still interested.Do you see many minorities at a speedway meeting?
  14. Isn't it worrying then that this happened in 2013,but nothing seemed to have been learnt(despite the continual statement that "lessons have been learnt")for such a basic thing even after a test meeting..........it is robbing the paying public to make the same mistakes over and over
  15. I'd agree with you.For me it was electric waiting for Peter Collins to come out in the next race t see what he would do and although it was a few years before he really got to the top,i think there was a period from 1973-77 when he was like that every meeting.Tai has a great chance to go on and become our best ever rider, but he hasn't done it yet and no-one knows what the future holds
  16. You didn't really answer any of the questions put to you,o yes,a bottle job of an answer
  17. To explain.......I think Subedei was the first to post a death wish on here, many years ago
  18. The truth sometimes hurts. and as he is President of the stupid club I need to keep it short, but sweet or he gets confused,so I didn't answer his question in any depth out of consideration for the trolling nutjob
  19. Being as clear as I can,so you can understand, because you act like a stupid arsed twit
  20. Maybe no one objects because the origins are unknown according to this and not related to the slave trade and maybe not even to black boys as such https://texthistory.wordpress.com/2012/08/20/debunking-myths-on-bristol-slavery/
  21. I'd tend to disagree. We have had Humphrey tell us that Wernher von Braun wasn't a Nazi as such,he was a scientist who wanted to send rockets to the moon.He just joined the party to help further those aims.He used slave labour to help those aims.It was the thing to do at the time and he had absolutely no idea of the conditions these people worked, lived and died in.He never saw any of that,as he was too busy making rockets to send to London and Coventry. But he didn't want to hurt people,he just wanted to send a rocket up to the moon.He was a good guy really. There were in fact lots of good guys who were members of the Nazi party and hardly anyone knew what was happening to the jews and the homosexuals and any other group. So do we say the swastika is a symbol we should fly as a memory of all those good guys who died fighting with it on their helmets or uniforms? Distance tends to weaken the strength of a symbol.I once went to France and was shocked to see Red Army Faction t-shirts on sale. Now I doubt they would have been worn on the streets of Germany.I wouldn't at all be surprised if IRA t-shirts were on sale in America or Australia, but doubt anyone who might have had one would wear it on the streets of London etc.Same with Shining Path t-shirts or any other symbol.I am fairly sure most people in the Uk who might have a Confederate shirt or tattoo wouldn't walk some streets and Cities in America with it openly on display, like they might in the UK.They know the meaning and conotations.I'd guess that is the same for Americans as well. They would be careful of where they showed off their flag,t-shirt or tattoo........
  22. I did do a day trip from Hamburg by train through Copenhagen to Malmö for a meeting. It was tight.I didn't have time to look round Malmö,but it was do-able in a day
  23. All this comparing the flag to the Danish or British or Portuguese etc is complete nonsense. The Danish flag etc isn't controversial ,because Denmark has existed for hundreds of years and over that period slavery is just one small part of the Danes history,so the flag isn't associated with slavery. The Confederacy existed for a very small period of time and they didn't really achieve much in the way of social reforms or manage to become associated in peoples minds with anything else apart from fighting to try and maintain slavery.
  24. I'd imagine there would be a number of meetings in Northern Germany that people could make by flying into Hamburg,Lübeck or Berlin.Flying into Hamburg or Lübeck also means you could fairly easily reach tracks in Southern Denmark
