The truth sometimes hurts. and as he is President of the stupid club I need to keep it short, but sweet or he gets confused,so I didn't answer his question in any depth out of consideration for the trolling nutjob

Somerset And The Confederate Flag
iris123 replied to drvortexz's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Maybe no one objects because the origins are unknown according to this and not related to the slave trade and maybe not even to black boys as such https://texthistory.wordpress.com/2012/08/20/debunking-myths-on-bristol-slavery/ -
Somerset And The Confederate Flag
iris123 replied to drvortexz's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I'd tend to disagree. We have had Humphrey tell us that Wernher von Braun wasn't a Nazi as such,he was a scientist who wanted to send rockets to the moon.He just joined the party to help further those aims.He used slave labour to help those aims.It was the thing to do at the time and he had absolutely no idea of the conditions these people worked, lived and died in.He never saw any of that,as he was too busy making rockets to send to London and Coventry. But he didn't want to hurt people,he just wanted to send a rocket up to the moon.He was a good guy really. There were in fact lots of good guys who were members of the Nazi party and hardly anyone knew what was happening to the jews and the homosexuals and any other group. So do we say the swastika is a symbol we should fly as a memory of all those good guys who died fighting with it on their helmets or uniforms? Distance tends to weaken the strength of a symbol.I once went to France and was shocked to see Red Army Faction t-shirts on sale. Now I doubt they would have been worn on the streets of Germany.I wouldn't at all be surprised if IRA t-shirts were on sale in America or Australia, but doubt anyone who might have had one would wear it on the streets of London etc.Same with Shining Path t-shirts or any other symbol.I am fairly sure most people in the Uk who might have a Confederate shirt or tattoo wouldn't walk some streets and Cities in America with it openly on display, like they might in the UK.They know the meaning and conotations.I'd guess that is the same for Americans as well. They would be careful of where they showed off their flag,t-shirt or tattoo........ -
International Day Trips For Speedway

I did do a day trip from Hamburg by train through Copenhagen to Malmö for a meeting. It was tight.I didn't have time to look round Malmö,but it was do-able in a day -
Somerset And The Confederate Flag
iris123 replied to drvortexz's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
All this comparing the flag to the Danish or British or Portuguese etc is complete nonsense. The Danish flag etc isn't controversial ,because Denmark has existed for hundreds of years and over that period slavery is just one small part of the Danes history,so the flag isn't associated with slavery. The Confederacy existed for a very small period of time and they didn't really achieve much in the way of social reforms or manage to become associated in peoples minds with anything else apart from fighting to try and maintain slavery. -
International Day Trips For Speedway
iris123 replied to WembleyLion's topic in International World of Speedway
I'd imagine there would be a number of meetings in Northern Germany that people could make by flying into Hamburg,Lübeck or Berlin.Flying into Hamburg or Lübeck also means you could fairly easily reach tracks in Southern Denmark -

It is like a graph sort of thing you download and print out onto this paper stuff, then you look through the net, mostly on youtube and write down all the videos available.Very light weight and easily transported and dirt cheap.I take it with me wherever I go and you don't need any adaptors or anything when you are abroad and well you have to keep it out of water or fire, but you have to do that with most things nowadays. The one fault I find with my version is it doesn't update itself.I havre to do that manually I'm pulling yer plonker

Video Refs... Could It Happen In Speedway?
iris123 replied to Albert's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I know they have done in Germany. The guy stated so on facebook and there was a photo of him in the refs box showing him his footage to back it up.I know the bloke and he is no bullrubbishter and he is a one man band with his amateur video camera on a tripod by the starting gate of most speedway meetings in North east Germany -

They might also use video evidence if you filmed a meeting yourself.I know it has happened here a few times with a guy who just films meetings to put on youtube. He was asked up to the refs box to show his video after a couple of incidents -
2015 Speedway Gp Challange

Now now, some will get upset if we go over that one again!!!! -
Come off it John, you was being a silly bugger on there as well.Your attitude to the Kent v Wimbledon challenge meeting upset a few and then you ended up threatening to delete all your posts.Big deal..I noticed if I posted something about Billy Lamont or someone then you'd have to post something on the same rider the day after.......and you took offence at mild comments such as the photo of Tony Clarke where all I said was "he was a controversial rider having spent time inside for pinching bikes off a fellow rider" or the Poole foto when I said "two Poole legends and Neil Middleditch" Blimey you are a strange one if you get all stroppy at those comments

Think this situation must have happened numerous times.Fritz Wallner in the world U21 final for instance was one I recall -
The author tells us there is a new book that contains a part about speedway and some "expert" is still trying to make himself look like a divvy instead of just giving up,putting on the dunces cap and going off to stand in the corner. Stupid is as stupid does
-
Congrats to Adam Ellis for a super second place in Macon and also to Erik Riss for a very good third place http://www.speedway.org/speedway-u19-em/2015/index.html

Only on the Wimbledon facebook page John as I am a Wimbledon fan.Other than that I don't post on any speedway related sites,so not sure what you are on about there.Any further trouble you have on such sites is nothing to do with me mate,so you must be making a twit of yourself .And as you quite rightly know,my name on facebook is open for all to see.Try again. Not your day is it? 2015 Speedway Gp Challange
iris123 replied to OveFundinFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not a BSI event though is it,so it was all down to the locals wasn't it? -
You seem to be the one who is slipping up.Forgot your earlier posts about the speedway link and forgot your earlier post saying you did try pie 'n' mash. Not your day really,is it?
-
Did Barry like pie 'n' mash or live in a prefab? Not sure of the relevance here.Which were your favourite pie 'n' mash shops John and did you live in a prefab? What cars did you drive in the 50s/60s and what speedway memories do you have from that period?

2015 Speedway Gp Challange
iris123 replied to OveFundinFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Like scb I think said, the GPs are pretty much right with the best riders with one or two exceptions. That means that there isn't much outside of the GPs of the same quality.Sadly the strength in depth just isn't there,as this line-up shows -
John,if you want to,you can contact Edinburgh speedway and ask them about the part I played in letting them know that Kevin Wölbert was looking for more speedway action as his Swedish club wasn't using him. That one mail has probably been worth a hell of a lot of money to that one club alone........this isn't about mine nor your contribution to speedway, this is about your contribution to this thread. Now stop digging yourself further into the big hole that you have dug,put the dunces cap on and go stand in the corner
