King's Lynn V Team Fritte - 10th July 2015
iris123 replied to Mimmo's topic in National League Speedway
Very strange to have some young new talent over and give them no real mention. Also wonder that Tom Madsen was given credit for this when the "Fritte" name is synonymous with the Frimodt Pedersen family.Mark of course one of them and I know his father Henrik quite well and he is a very generous sponsor of youngsters and I think Patrick Hougaard when he was younger.Henrik and Partick Bjerregaards father also helped Arthur Sissis when he first came over for the 80cc YGT News from the Fritte website with an interesting article from last years speedway star there.Don't think any young brits have ridden in this years comp though http://www.frittecup.dk/nyheder -

Somerset And The Confederate Flag

Another use of what is a legal flag, but one that is often used by neo-nazis and caused quite a storm near me last year amongst the allotment holders.Again, there was no real reason to hoist the flag and the guy swore he wasn't right-wing,said he was just a fan of eagles, but eventually removed it and probably has now been kicked out o the garden community... http://www.bild.de/regional/hamburg/kleingaertner/hisst-reichsflagge-in-hamburg-37204558.bild.html -
Somerset And The Confederate Flag
iris123 replied to drvortexz's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Can't you understand a simple statement? It isn't about telling people to be offended. It is telling people that it is a controversial emblem that does offend others. It also has nothing whatsoever to do with Somerset,so there is no real reason to use it.So why use something that offends others when it is quite easy to use something more relevant to Somerset that isn't controversial. It just appears to me to be stupid and inconsiderate to continue with it once it ha been pointed out how offensive and controversial it is -

Surely you aren't saying education is wrong and leaving people to be ignorant is the way to go as long as they are happy? The fact that people don't know the emblem might be offensive to some doesn't make its use ok and we should all be receptive to new information, surely? -

Very impressed with Emil when I saw him a few weeks back.Patrick Bjerregaard is a good steady rider and Jason is one to watch for the future. He was always an exciting rider on 80cc -
I am biased as a Wimbledon fan of course.I think one season Wimbledon could have had the top 3 riders in the world in Huxley,Tauser and Lamont.Lamont and Tauser both won what could be thought of as world championships and Huxley finished second in one

The 1938 season is interesting for the fact that not only did Dagenham race at the track, but Romford and also West Ham Hawks used the track as their "home".Could be some sort of record having 3 teams out of the same track?
-
Just seen some results fron the US and ...........Slater Lightcap was among the competitors
-
Is this thread only about the 1938 season at Dagenham or any season?
-
Agree with both parts of this.Wouldn't trust either of the two to come out with the true statement

I imagine he has,as have I,but not from Berlin. In fact if I was travelling from Berlin I would offer the person a lift.I have tried to help by hopefully drawing f-s-p's attention to this thread I could also contact a friend from Berlin who might know more or even offer a lift if that is wanted? Tried one friend, but they have a new born baby,so he isn't going Seen that they have speedkart racing starting at 10:30.The training for the Bundesliga starts at 12.30 and the presentation at 13:45
-
Maybe if f-s-p see's this he can help,as he has done that trip,i think, and it involved a long walk......... I can't help as I come from Hamburg and never travel there from Berlin

Danish Gp In Horsens 08.08

As I have mentioned before the region has really got behind the SonderjyskE project..Football and Handball are the main sports in Denmark and I doubt that speedway can match it.And we know Ole has been trying to get commune support for his track, but I guess most money is going to SönderjyskE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%B8nderjyskE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haderslev_Fodboldstadion I'd guess that Oles problems started when Vojens Kommune was abolished and it was lumped in with Haderslev etc .In Vojens it was undoubtedly the main sporting attraction in the region, but in the larger South Jutland region it must take second place to SonderjyskE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vojens_Municipality -
Future Of Scunthorpe Scorpions
iris123 replied to lucifer sam's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I had a lot of mates from Scotland/Ireland who lived in London and were football fans, but wouldn't go to football in England. They were supporters of a club, not general football fans who would wander down to Chelsea or Arsenal etc and pay to watch teams they didn't support.Maybe it is the same with speedway fans from Poland To be frank, from what I have read which admittedly isn't that much it sounds like Scunthorpe is dead. They need 200 "new" fans which if they get 2,000 is 10% increase, but I imagine they get a fair few less than 2,000,so the increase is more like 20-30%???? No chance is there? You might make an increase for a few weeks with such a press release, but it isn't sustainable and that is what they need.I said years ago the Uk needs to have less clubs and less meetings and others said they need more clubs and more meetings. It just isn't sustainable. It also makes me wonder why a club starts in march/arpil is poxy weather and then closes for the season at the end of August when the weather is pretty perfect.Still this is a real big shame as it is a god track that offers riders plenty of practice time, which is what the country needs.Just seems to be in the wrong place i'd guess.Only chance is if Mr Godfrey changes his mind or someone else comes in with money to lose. -

I doubt if you know many if any black people personally, but you seem to know how they would react.Normally you always state you will wait for the facts, but when it suits do like to speculate to the nth degree -
Somerset And The Confederate Flag
iris123 replied to drvortexz's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
They might very well not have a problem with it,because as has been explained its meaning and power is lost to many in another country.Just like other than a few places in Scotland and more places in Northern Ireland, the Irish flag has no real controversy in the rest of the world. But again that is one of the reasons why its use at Somerset is questioned, because it has no real meaning.Speedway exists in its own little world and no-one really takes any notice of it.A football player can hardly fart without the world going crazy about it,but a top speedway manager can call fans names and no-one takes any notice But I would say a major problem for speedway is that it hasn't managed to attract ethnic minorities. If it did,we might not have to speculate on how they would react and speculation is something I thought you didn't like, unless of course it suits your argument -

And of course according to Phil,London, one of the main tourist attractions in Europe and hosts of the very successful Olympics is,wait for it,not easy to get to!!!!! -
Not true. One big difference between then and now is lots of the alternatives have moved with the times.I used to go to Celtic Park or Highbury and the toilets were terrible,if people could even be bothered to use them.Often they just watered the concrete anywhere they could find a free spot. You were squeezed in and often had no real control on where you were taken by the mass.Go to a football stadium now and it is a totally different experience and that is probably why lots more females go and you will also see a lot more cosmopolitan crowd.Speedway is basically the same experience it was back in the 70s with much the same crowd that went in the 70s.Thse that are still interested.Do you see many minorities at a speedway meeting?
-
Isn't it worrying then that this happened in 2013,but nothing seemed to have been learnt(despite the continual statement that "lessons have been learnt")for such a basic thing even after a test meeting..........it is robbing the paying public to make the same mistakes over and over
-
I'd agree with you.For me it was electric waiting for Peter Collins to come out in the next race t see what he would do and although it was a few years before he really got to the top,i think there was a period from 1973-77 when he was like that every meeting.Tai has a great chance to go on and become our best ever rider, but he hasn't done it yet and no-one knows what the future holds

You didn't really answer any of the questions put to you,o yes,a bottle job of an answer
