  1. Once you take a break from the sport it seems very hard to ever get the momentum going again
  2. I did go a couple of times, but never saw the Godwinson brothers
  3. I remember a few years back there was a tie for first place in an open meeting. Both riders made an agreement in the pits about the run-off,went out and rode side by side doing wheelies for 4 laps.Half the crowd thought it was the best thing they had ever seen and the other half thought it a scandal. The arguments went on afterwards on the german forum.........
  4. Doubt it mate.Only if my kids cancel for the weekend, otherwise I am busy
  5. Only once TWK.Actually wasn't as bad as it looks. But I haven't been back for seconds
  6. Don't like jellied eels and neither do I like whelks. On my brief trip to London last week I did go past Manzies on Tower Bridge Rd twice. It was closed at that hour, but was given a mention in my girlfriends german tourist guide to London. We don't have a pie n mash shop in Hamburg, but we do have a Cornish pastie shop that also now sells clotted cream.Like London,we don't have a speedway team either. What we do have is our very own regional speciality that doesn't travel well........ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labskaus Might be the start of a book......
  7. Got to say though having just got back from a trip to London that the amount of eateries in London has exploded over the past decade and there is something for every pocket on practically every corner.Amazing how they can all survive, but you won't starve in London. My partner even asked if people still cook/eat at home.......
  8. 'Childish' is the word used by the German commentators as well............
  9. They(Egon and Norbert)stated on German Eurosport that Gollob is refusing to take part in meetings where Nicki P is riding!!!!!! Is there really any truth in that?
  10. To be honest,i think I was there the last time kelvin rode on the track. He was pretty much retired from speedway and was there only to do the Bergring, but someone pulled out and Kelvin agreed to ride in the speedway meeting as a late replacement. The track even then was a gaters paradise and its reputation has declined since.Last years U21 World team comp had bad problems with the track and I think one team at least asked for an inspection half way through. In another german meeting the senior riders refused to go out and the meeting ended up a farce with only the juniors doing their heats.......
  11. Personally the gate bias was absolutely unacceptable. As for the rest I feel that was as good as it is going to get.The weather was perfect and still the racing wasn't good.Ok it got better, but I was left with the feeling they got away with it last night but the track is too tight for passing and it is an accident waiting to happen
  12. Even your picture of Norden is out of date isn't it?Think they now have nice plastic seating bought cheaply from Werder Bremen or some other club?So the difference is even bigger
  13. Guess you mean Michi Härtel?Helfer has already had a spell at Edinburgh and has been out for a while injured if I am correct
  14. Bit of a pity it seems my stream totally missed Doyle cocking up his semi and the interviews were only coherent right at the end.GP warmed up as it went along, but the track really isn't good for speedway despite what Tatum was saying about it being a good stadium for motorsport!!!! Which heats did Harris use the Gerhard then?
  15. Not particularly. At EL level at least there are heat leaders who don't want to do all the meetings. At PL level you might be able to attract heat leader level riders who also don't want to spend half their season in the UK.They would though be foreign riders.
  16. Sound is a bit busticated. Can hear Tatum and the other bloke, but the interviews were really hard to hear.Had to try to lip read Kildemand Just heard it is Jim Lawrence in charge!!!! No way should he be near another GP after his display at Warsaw.FIM holding the fans in utter contempt really.........
  17. Phil did say there will be some interesting first corners. He didn't say it would be interesting after that.............. But we should give it 6 or so heats before making a judgement, maybe
  18. Surely that wouldn't be the case. Each team would/should have cover for heatleaders in their squad,so when one is missing they call up another. The trouble is though that some riders in the squad probably wouldn't get enough meetings each season to get a fair average,so would be on false averages. It would though I guess mean even more foreign riders filling up squad positions.......
  19. While they were far from popular winners, both were actually tipped at the start of those seasons.Ok Jerzy was tipped as an outside chance in the season preview mag,but Egon was tipped by none other than Briggo,so it wasn't quite so out of the blue as people later would try to make us believe On the thread question,i think obviously Wembley was better, but those days have gone and I am not sure what is to be gained from the comparison. Is of course a big big shame that it seems Cardiff is unlikely ever to host the final GP in any season which would boost the occasion by 5-10,000 if a British rider was in with a chance of the title,at a guess
  20. Guess national titles can be run as open meetings.Seem to recall Christian Hefenbrock being Latvian Champ or at least in the title meeting and he didn't have a Latvian licence
  21. I also remember my first visit there.Thought i'd do the usual of getting the train and then at the train station get a taxi to the track.Only problem was there was at the time only 2 taxis in the town and only 1 on duty at the time and I had to tramp through the place looking for him in some café(although that is too exotic a word for the place really)
  22. And what about an Estonian one if all else fails?Finnish and Estonan are almost the same language,so I heard
