National Speedway Stadium Opening Tickets Now On Sale
iris123 replied to hyderd's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Here is a report and a couple of videos from last years U21 quali in Teterow. It mentions the poor track and the number of crashes and how many heats were run with only 3 riders. There are also two videos of crashes in the problem curve.Stekkers and the Finnish ref had to go out during the meeting to inspect the track.Hardly a good reputation.Like I mentioned elsewhere there was also a meeting where only the juniors rode their heats as the senior riders refused to ride because of the dangerous track......I could also dig out the report from that meeting if really needed http://www.speedweek.com/speedwayu21teamwm/news/58005/U21-Team-WM-Teterow-Deutsches-Team-versagte.html This was my first meeting in Teterow for a nuber of years as the track had a reputation of being very slick and hardly any passing.A friend o mine who goes told me it had changed and was now better. This was the result.......it also has a very poor reputation on the German speedway forum,so I have no idea who told Phil it was a great track apart from Kelvin who hasn't ridden a proper race there in donkeys years. In fact the previous time I was there I think was his last meeting Report from the other meeting where riders refused to go out http://www.speedway-forum.de/index.php/Thread/11102-Eklat-am-Bergring-Junge-Speedway-Fahrer-boykottieren-den-Start/?postID=173042&highlight=teterow#post173042 -
Actually what is quite common in Germany are these.Get them to hire at places like zoos,to cart the kids and all the food + drink around. And we have groups of guys roaming the streets on fathers day with one full of beer. https://www.google.de/search?q=vatertag+2015&biw=1366&bih=673&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAWoVChMI8YzjltbsxwIVQ14aCh0uBQ1S#tbm=isch&q=vatertag+bollerwagen https://www.google.de/search?q=bollerwagen&biw=1366&bih=673&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=0CD8QsARqFQoTCIWUuKPV7McCFUMyGgod-ewFJA

Like Oldace said it is a bit off the beaten track.Rostock is the nearest sizeable town and very nice it is too.As for getting to the track, well for the big grasstrack meeting they normally had(have) shuttle buses running from the town,so i'd guess they would do this for a GP.The fit usually have a rucksack full of beer and walk
-
Guess it is done on a shoestring.Like some of the press releases by foreign clubs or even the FIM.They have obviously asked "who can speak English" and someone puts his hand up and does the press releases. In this case they have asked "who can do a website" and the person who put his hand up got the job!!!! Main thing is the speedway is more successful than the website, then no-one will really be complaining
-
He was talking about the time when he was a meeting sponsor, rather than clock sponsor. And of course anything can be bought at the right price. It would be foolish to believe otherwise in this world He has gone all quiet now he is back doing a bit of sponsoring, but how long will that last and then he will be back blowing the lid off of even more BSI goings on
-
No,but the point was,he said he could if he wanted to
-
Maybe even more so when it is a BSI event. They won't want to be losing money.........

I think what trees is getting at is for instance Dansk Metals were the sponsor of the Parken GP and by coincidence Puk(also sponsored by Dansk Metals) got the wildcard one year slightly controversially according to some in Denmark over Kenneth Bjerre. That sort of thing.I mean we did have Mr Meridian also claiming as a sponsor he could get any rider he wanted into the meeting he was sponsoring,so ya know.........

2015 Speedway Gp Challange
iris123 replied to OveFundinFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Think you are both looking at this from the wrong perspective or misreading what some are saying. Not sure anyone has said he doesn't deserve it or that others deserve it more. What I am saying for instance is I would rather have seen a rider who could do well in the GPs qualify over someone who seemingly can't do well. There is nothing so called about these stats. Not that I want Kildemand over Harris. But there is no doubt Kildemand is the better GP rider PK-12,8,3,14,9 CH-7,6,5,5,4,5,2,5 Harris got through and so deserves his place. That doesn't mean I look forward to seeing him ride in the series next year.Liglad also seemed to have trouble in the Challenge, but is also doing better in the series than Harris. That is speedway for you.But no need to try and twist what people are saying -

You can tell by the Rising posts that they have been working hard to get Emil in the series. They know he is a big big loss.I do feel a bit let down because I thought he was doing all of this for my entertainment -

Risk...acceptable Or Unacceptable?
iris123 replied to customhouseregular's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
We are currently starting building a roof for the motorway through Hamburg that will take years to finish and cause major disruption to stop the noise. But of course when the plans were announced, some of those people were then appalled that near their house would be an outlet for all the fumes that come from the vehicles under the roof!!!!! -
Risk...acceptable Or Unacceptable?
iris123 replied to customhouseregular's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I don't think that is possible or sensible.............just this week in the news was a case of someone in Bavaria who was complaining about the cows having bells round their neck and that they sound like "jack hammers".The woman who has the cows offered to take all except one bell off the cows(so she could at least find them if they strayed away on the mountains),but it seems at the moment she has to remove the bells after 19:00......such is the world we now live in.Something that seems so idealic is now considered a nuisance and it might well be one if those cows are roaming around outside your window -
That is true.Tommy Jansson will always be a great for me,even though he never got near an individual title.Emil will of course go down in history as an extremely ggod rider, probably even a great with or without a world title. There is of course the suspicion from some that he is being pressured not to enter.Maybe he himself makes the choice not to enter because of the apparent snub or extremely high list of wishes that BSI want to host a GP in Russia. It is a shame if he doesn't ride, but not as tragic as if Darcy will never have the chance.........
-
Maybe happens quite often this problem. There was another case just this week of a rider taking a booking or two for open meetings and having to pull out .I became suspicious of the press release and mentioned so on the internet and got a message that his club wouldn't release him before an important meeting. Now the thing is there are rules and all riders sign up for clubs with often very good rewards.People are always quick to point out when rules are being broken. And scb is one of the main posters in this area So it isn't very credible when someone stands up for the rules and still gets flack.

I thought you might......... A couple of speedway riders with german surnames, suggest as would generally happen, that not all people with german heritage left Poland Glücklich + Hampel for instance

Gorzow Gp 29 August

When a GP is in another country they might well be past the watershed in that country. How are we going to cope when the GP gets to Australia? -
If you take it that communism "influenced the social fabric...." then surely you should agree that German occupation or annexation of part of what is now Poland also had a similar influence. Here is a pretty good list of pre WW2 speedway meetings in Poland.Sure you will notice a lot of Germanic surnames and even german riders.Alfred Rumrich who rode briefly for Wimbledon for instance and the brothers(I guess) Geyer. And just look at the names of some of the Bydgoszcz clubs riders.........Helmut Zimmerman,Herbert Beitsch and Albrecht von Alvensleben, all riding for Bydgoszcz in 1930...... http://rlach.republika.pl/pl_1932.htm
-
Like I mentioned before,i do think the Poles were very proud people before the Soviet occupation. They seemed extremely proud and brave during WW2. There was for a brief period after the war a town in Germany that was cleared of its inhabitants and handed over to the Poles. It was called Haren, then the Poles named it Lwow and then under pressure from the Russians named it Maczkow from 1945-1948.What does seem important is that most of the Polish soldiers seemed to end up in the UK rather than go back to an occupied homeland https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haren,_Germany On a speedway note,i think I am right in saying that former speedway rider Kevin Teager now lives in Haren
-
Interesting theory. How do you come to this conclusion?I wonder why Polish air crews were so passionate and patriotic during WW2?I wonder why Polish people are amongst the most religious in Europe?Surely yo can't be suggesting they became so patriotic during the communist period? And why are their near neighbours the Danes so patriotic then, without having lived under communism?
-
Maybe, maybe not.A couple of the local sports clubs near me for example are "Sportverein Eidelstedt von 1880" and TSV Stellingen von 1888" so maybe "Klub Sportowy Polonia" which was formed in Bydgoszcz in 1920(the year the Red Army was repulsed) and predates communism and went on to include a speedway team, might have been formed along german sporting club lines........ In fact a quick search of a few clubs(not only speedway)such as Lech Poznan and they all seem to have been formed in the early 20s,after the Polish independence and before WW2 The oldest still existing Sportverein in Germany from 1814 https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/TSV_1814_Friedland
