Ice Speedway Fixtures 2015 - 2016
iris123 replied to Hawk127's topic in International World of Speedway
Just for tv imo I did see a good old video of Bauer and his father making an ice speedway track themselves so he could practice a little while back.Think his son Luca was just starting out at the time on a small bike.Something I hadn't seen before Saw a few pics some days ago of what looked like ex champ Nikolai Krasnikov becoming a member of notorious Russian motorbike 'gang' the Night Wolves -
I thought it was Dantodan's site or is he the same person as Jackofdiamonds? We do get people on here with more than one forum name
-
That Gus Kuhn site is very good indeed

3 heats that spring to mind as very memorable 1.Years ago at Güstrow in the rain Mirko Wolter was leading then lost control and was very lucky to keep on the bike and keep it going,he then went on to pass a couple( I think) of those in front.I was always impressed with Mirko and it seems many in Germany feel he never reached the height his talent should have taken him to 2.It was an amazing piece of skill in a Russian ice speedway final by ex world champ Dmitri Bulankin, who also lost control and was pretty much lying on the track and somehow again managed to keep control and keep going an eventually get himself and the bike upright again.....Only saw this one on a livestream though. 3.Was probably my most memorable heat over the past decade and it was at Holsted in a Danish Final in the final heat.Nicki was against Kenneth Bjerre,Hans Andersen and Bjarne Pedersen.Came into the first bend in the lead, then lost control and ended up at the back.Kept going and over the next few laps passed Bjerre and Bjarne then took Hans on the last lap to win the Danish title and Hans was at 1 stage way out in front.Great stuff

Are There Any Characters Within The Sport Anymore?
iris123 replied to steve roberts's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Robert Lamberts mum Guess you could also include one time hot talent Danny Knakowski, who had a spell inside for (I think)armed robbery Reputation has taken a bashing of late, but Len Silver is still one of the old characters -

It is possible to cover for most scenarios,if you are allowed to use your best 5 riders, regardless of age -

I agree with Humph.Seems a bit strange the way they are going about it.One country has 5 decent riders over 21 and not much under. So they end up lining up with 4 decent riders and a not very good rider.Another team has only 4 decent riders over 21 and a very good under 21 rider. They line up with 5 decent riders.....it's bound to happen at sometime -
Somehow White City never really done it for me.I was at the first meeting on re-opening and the next 10 or so,then hardly went again. The World Team Cup final when Oz won, being an exception I enjoyed my visits to Eastbourne,Crayford and then later Arena Essex far more

Then again Perth to Brisbane is 4,300km or so,compared with Moscow to Vladivostok which is 9,200 or so......They manage to have a speedway league in Russia somehow There is huge and there is Russian huge....огромный.Which is bigger than the english version!!!!

I did manage to see some heats with Fundin,Mauger,Briggo and PC.....although it was Collins, not Craven

Well if you look at the schedule and look at say sunday the 12th of June then they have games at 15.00,18:00 and 21:00.Same for the sunday 26th June........etc Not sure why marky is repeating what I have already posted(wrong in the case of the Euro Final dates ) ?????? -
Nigel Boocock Ashes Laid To Rest
iris123 replied to speedibee's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Jim also rode with Booey in New Zealand for England,so could correctly be described in this case as an England star,as for instance could Ken McKinlay 1968-69,1969-70,1970-71 tours for instance http://www.internationalspeedway.co.uk/nzveng.htm -
So,you agree there were 3 then? Ove doesn't even come into the equation as from the time he rode for Wembley he never rode in a Wembley world final. He only rode in Wembley finals before he signed for Wembley

I know Scotland beat Finland in the Euro Curling semi-finals.And the bronze was Finlands first ever medal -
Seems to be running an Irish pub-night club and probably speedway is just a hobby now.Had a short spell in hospital this year after maybe puncturing a lung or something at a meeting. Not sure.So many accidents,i can't remember who done what

He started a comeback, very slowly.Got injured again this season, but is still riding.Just not at the level he was before his bad crash a few years back
-
Good to see Bradley is still riding and making progress.I was somewhat surprised to see him not listed in the NZ league teams and assumed he had given up the sport.Intersting signing
-
One time when the track wasn't set up for home advantage was Wembley '75,which I was at.As it went we had the inofficial unauthorised watering of the track which was supposed to have ruined PCs chances......
-
None other than Barry Briggs tipped Egon to win the title before the season had started.Coincidently the 1972 round up and 1973 preview also tipped Jerzy as a dark horse. But it is also quite sratange to think that setting up the track for anyone rider is the reason they win.It might give them that bit of advantage. But in this class of meeting surely it also give one or two others an advantage.Setting the track differently, just gives a different set of riders an advantage.I'd imagine the Poles always set their tracks up to suit their riders and so did they in other countries as far as they could with the weather

Don't think their football is that big in Denmark, although they do play on sunday. The big problem for Sweden,Denmark and a lot of countries is they watch English or Spanish football on sunday.English football at least is very big and there are lts of fans who even travel over for the games. So I guess it gets big coverage. The trouble is really which day doesn't clash with football now?Even the Bundesliga want,to protests from the lower league,to play on Mondays for tv money -

So,does that last sentence mean they are looking at changing the race day to avoid a clash with football? -
A very nice guy and so is his father. He is a Poole fan because of his Grandad riding for Poole. Not sure any other relations rode for Poole though. Not sure he has been a student in the UK either, but has been the guest of Matt Ford and maybe even Rossiter a few times to see some meetings.Was/is a mate of Lewis Bridger I seem to remember.Saw him a few times back in his 80cc days and was fairly impressed.Hope it works out for him
