  1. It's always your argument sid when confronted with the stats, but just what Is your argument based on then if not the facts???? You've still got a hangover from last night mate.Go back to bed Trouble is Phil and I do agree to some extent,is that the friend or fan of Ove will come on and say if there was a GP system back then, then Ove would have won more.Or Mauger would have won more or what about just look at how consistent Leigh Adams was he must surely have won a title or two,but he didn't
  2. It doesn't matter what he averaged at first Sid.Some hit the ground running and others take time.I think it took Simmo quite a while before he got a good average.he steadily improved rather than burst onto the scene like Lee or Collins.Even one of my all time favourite riders,Tommy Jansson got quite a low average in his first season for Wembley. Not looked it up but I think it was under 3.......
  3. Calm down,calm down,calm down lad.You can't say things like that nowadays!!!!!
  4. Yes,but some people back them were in teams within weeks of taking up the sport. It was easy back then
  5. And after being a wobbler at first Sam Ermolenko became a world champ,so I am not sure what your point was saying he was a wobbler at first
  6. Yes i am sure sid.He only managed to beat the great Keith White and Mike Bast.Honest he did
  7. I'm sure if Tom Farndon gave one he would be devestated
  8. I was answering one of your posts, which aren't simple to decipher, but I thought you was saying when you first saw Sam he wasn't very good.I said when I first saw Bruce(and I reckon the person who started this thread is regretting it....)he also wasn't very good, but look what happened. So you should have kept your word and stopped posting
  9. Funnily enough I was expecting a few new faces to turn up.......but I thought they would start with the Ufa club itself.Moving a few friends into high places. But that is fast!!!! I was wondering today if there is more behind this than at first meets the eye.Is it maybe a way for the Night Wolves to parade through Berlin etc coming over as ice speedway delegates/officials?They wanted to parde through Germany into Berlin and were stopped. The boss has lived quite a while before in Berlin and has good contacts there.I wonder if we will see a Night Wolves convoy on the Berlin weekend
  10. I know I don't say this often,but that makes sense John
  11. I think according to some it must be a toss up between Bast and Buzz as to who is the most talented rider of all time
  12. Getting back to the topic,i was there in 1977 when Bruce came over to White City.He was pants.Only beat Keith White and fellow American Mike Bast
  13. Seems conclusive, but a photo or film showing one or the other in leathers is needed,i think Normally always have a photo of the full line-up.At least nowadays
  14. Are there any photos existing showing either Crutcher or Westerberg at the 57 final?
  15. Surely you are splitting hairs?Just like using Jason Crump(06 August 1975 born Bristol,England)
  16. People tend to forget how long it used to take to travel around from some parts of the country. The world is a whole lot smaller now than back then. And people tend to forget how long it used to take the likes of Fundin or Briggo to travel to and from meetings and not in the comfort todays riders have in their big mobile homes......
  17. Lee wasn't a local sid,he was a country bumpkin who lived miles away from London
  18. To be honest I have heard a rumour from within Germany, from an "insider"(who wasn't there and probably because of the Berlin Wall never saw Egon much, if at all,)that Egon did cheat that day in Norden. It wasn't though anything to do with his engine being bigger or smaller or whatever. It was something to do with his exhaust.Who knows.I kinda think that most people cheated or would have with the know-how and confidence or determination.Look around at the sporting world and even people wh I thought would be above cheating like Beckenbauer are now being accused or dirty dealings.Nothing surprises me any more
  19. Had a check and they both take pride of place(!!!!) in my photo collection.Crang in the BV 1985 team pic and Barrett in Arena Essex team.I wouldn't recognise him from the rider who was doing a bit of ice racing
  20. Having seen the poster for next weeks meeting at Ufa it does seem the Night Wolves are sponsors of the club now.Their emblem is there alongside the likes of Motul
  21. No.Either read it again and have a long think or bugger off with your idiotic posts
  22. What is worse are the umpteen books/theories about who Jack the Ripper might have been.A whole range of books and tv programmes have been made. That is talking ill of the dead about someone who can't answer any of the accusations brought against them and could stigmatise any of their living relatives.Calling someone names who was known to have done a dreadful thing doesn't really come onto the scale of things to worry about in this world...........
  23. This was in the book. Not sure if the same quotes were used in the mag or if they are different quotes that have upset Dave I'd generally say a book can be more hard hitting than a magazine that people have a subscription to,imo
  24. I know I do.If that had meant saving the life of an innocent mother, then so be it
  25. Let's hope it has a happy end.We despearately need a track that is willing to host ice speedway in western Europe to go along with Berlin and Inzell or the sport will disappear. It seems the weather just doesn't allow for many natural tracks these days.Alarmingly warm again so far this winter. We have blossom on trees and flowers still blooming!!!!!
