  1. Not sure.Hope to make one day at least. But it might end up as one day at Assen or it might end up as none.Think some friends are coming over from Ireland around then,so it might be a day or two in the pubs of Hamburg
  2. Strange logic from a strange person. You make yourself look like a fool to try and get back at people who say your posts are idiotic
  3. I'd agree that Spain might be a good 'new' venture, although we will have the usual suspects maybe telling us that Spain has been tried and failed a number of times.Just like the last venture a few years back,Forget the guys name(ex Arena Essex rider,i think) who had all his gear pinched and was robbed at gun point.... The trouble though with this is we have a seemingly unwanted meeting that has to be run by a new promoter to the sport. After BSI we had Onesport and all the internal problems a new company brought. Now we are bringing in another new company. It is getting to be a bit like boxing with different bodies all wanting their own titles..... Russell Payne was the guy,i seem to remember now I wouldn't be sure that FIM Europe can only promote meetings in Europe(and I thought Armando was behind this,so meaning FIM themselves) .We have had controversial talk here that Hamburg might have a Bundesliga match in Asia.......the local fans(season ticket holders etc)not being happy that Hamburg v Dortmund or Bayern might be played out in another continent, although Hamburg are saying it would be a relatively unimportant game like Augsburg......hmmmm
  4. Obviously in your world that is the criteria as to whether you accept Crutcher was there or Hoskins founded the sport of speedway. Most other people like hard evidence. Not sure what you are trying to prove here.It is already clear to most you are a bit of a prat.......
  5. They are just websites and as we know websites can get things wrong.I mean they even upset Bobbath because they get things wrong. But this guy was there as an eye witness and back in those days was quite well respected, though he has turned into a bit of a fool nowadays, but that shouldn't distract from his piece written at the time. yet again for those who are hard of understanding World Final Gossip by John Hyam (!!) "Bearded Brian Crutcher, although only first reserve and not called upon to race, took a very keen interest in the racing. When Barry Briggs headed Ove Fundin in the run-off for the title, Brian was amongst the first to congratulate the New Zealander." It couldn't be that even way back then he was also often writing rubbish could it?
  6. Maybe you, through your connections can get Brian to look at the video to see if he recognises himself or it jogs his memory? Then again he might be as confused as one ex speedway journalist as to whether he was there or not
  7. Talk about drama queen Matt Ford went on about it for years and then when it came about and his team had actually qualified for the thing,he didn't want to know. That is what the promoter thought about the comp. It is just the same with the biggest sport in the world. You just can't make up competitions and be assured of crowds and tv interest. As I said the world club championship went ahead again in about the only country that wants to host it,with very little interest from around the world. The final didn't even get as much interest here as a normal Bundesliga game.Didn't even get as much interest here as a 2.Bundesliga game....... It is an interesting meeting,if the line-ups are good. But that is all it is.It isn't going to start any big interest for the sport in a 'new' country and like our Finnish expert say's it is hardly going to be a long term deal.We have had the sport in Middle Eastern countries before.Let's hope we can actually see the meeting,it is good and the riders make money out of it.But important,it isn't
  8. Nail on the head In other news did you notice all the hullaballoo about the world club football championship? No,neither did I.Was it actually live on tv in Europe?and that is football........
  9. Well I think video evidence and the following years programme seem fairly good evidence even if we ignore the drunken ramblings of someone who most of the time doesn't know his assterix from his elbowlox
  10. Well this is the piece from arnieg on the other thread that you did post on a few times John mate Does seem quite conclusive, but only you or old don or one of the others can actually say whether you were there or just made it up
  11. This is your post after all the evidence was presented,so I am a bit surprised at this latest development But you can watch the video (again)....I guess you did watch it the first time? http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/youtube/58b9d0459d4646598a832bcafc0b4c96 I do seem to count 18 riders,so that is the 16 plus 2 reserves.although it is all a bit too fast for me to see if Crutcher or Westerberg are there
  12. I think you should look on the other thread where it was discussed and I think the conclusion was that Westerberg wasn't there. This thread seems to have gone back to the beginning and confused things again, but there seemed to be video evidence of the parade that showed only 1 Norwegian rider.Aage Hansen would be the obvious guess, unless someone can look and say they can definitely see Westerberg for some reason wearing a British race jacket.......this video 'evidence' alongside a report from John Hyam at the time that stated Crutcher was there seem to be fairly conclusive.Unless Hyam was mistaken and for some reason Westerberg is on the parade wearing a GB jacket....
  13. Don't think this is a secret that the Telegraph has released http://www.speedway.org/kalender/2016/index.html even mentioned here a while back http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=80680&page=1
  14. I have mentioned it before, but just round the corner from me is a dual velodrome/ice hockey-ice skating rink, all under one roof(well tent) http://www.radsport-hh.de/cms/index.php?radrennbahn https://www.eisbahn-stellingen.de/ The place gets used most days of the week winter + summer, although the times for the public to use it for ice skating are I find a bit restricted. Then again we do have a relatively new indoor arena that is also open and just a mile or two away.....
  15. Not sure about the terracing, but there is a danger of getting attacked by a dog or two,so I have heard
  16. One of my daughters and my son support their local football teams. My daughter, quite fanatically and my son regularly and watches wrestling on youtube etc like mad I did get them in the car and didn't say I was going to speedway. They kept asking where we were going and when I told them, they made such a hoo-ha in the car that I gave up.My one and only attempt to get them to see a meeting live A friend of mine who is a trainer at one speedway club told me if I brought my son he would kit him up and let him go on one of the 50cc bikes.I thought at least having a ride on a motorbike would excite him,but he didn't want to know
  17. I did mention it on here before, but my (at the time)10 year old son watched speedway on Eurosport last season. The only thing that interested him was the fact that in 2 or 3 heats running the rider wearing yellow crashed.he thought that was interesting, but once that didn't happen any more he just said "they are just riding round in circles!" and won't watch any more and wild horses couldn't get him or his sisters to a live meeting......
  18. Maybe one way is to give out flyers to ticket agencies?I bought some tickets for a concert a couple of weeks back and the woman put them in an envelope. When I got home and had a look I had a couple of flyers in there. One for the Nitro Circus. You then target people who are ready to part with money for a night out......
  19. Think both looked about the same.Maybe a few more today, but I think the main crowd is behind the camera? That is where the Xmas man and lady were always directing their singing, dancing etc
  20. Think with Bulankin it was 5 points and 3 disqualifications for going inside the blue line!!!!!!
  21. Thanks for that.Luckily for Steve I am not Bwitcher and won't go banging on about what a strange example he used for days or weeks to come
  22. So what you are saying is your brother is a die hard who still goes to the pub when people in large numbers have deserted them.He is like a lot of us who still go to speedway when people in large numbers don't!!!! That doesn't really help us.Think you need a better example.Like Vince said pubs couldn't rely on the die hards, just like football and the cinema couldn't.They had to reinvent themselves to attract a new audience. That is the point of the thread
  23. You still go to speedway then?My girlfriend doesn't like the sport that much, but the state of the toilets is a major turn off for her as well as the delays Delays are an annoying problem for the older generation I think, but this year I travelled back from London to Hamburg by train.10 hours with two of my kids.A few years back and a ten minute wait for the bus would be too long and they'd kick off.Now 10 hours went by without incident because they have their mobile phones........
